I had a very unpleasant experience this week at this salon. I scheduled for an appt with a JR…read moreStylist because I did not want to pay $80 for a Master stylist. The Jr was $60. I had to make a payment of 1/2 the fee for my haircut which I did that day. I came in and told the young woman who I was and that I was to see (don't want to name her because it is not her fault). In a few minutes a stylist stylist came out and called my name. I had never been here before, so didn't know anyone. I followed her back and got a trim, which was fine. I paid with my CC and also had a coupon for new customers. The total was $38 and I put the charge through. I did not do the math right then, but it seemed reasonable. When I came home, I remembered I had already paid $30, so looked at the tkt. They had charged me $80. I called immediately and explained I had just been in and had requested a Jr stylist for $60. The woman said, yes, we got you mixed up with another customer who was also new and had the same name as you. I guess they didn't check our last names. I said I thought I should get a refund for the difference of $20 since it was not fault for the mix-up. She told me she could Not give me a refund, but she could make sure I got the correct stylist next time! I just kept trying to reason with her and she said she'd have someone call me about it. They never did. I thought it was very unprofessional and they obviously don't put a priority on serving customers and ensuring they are happy with the service. there was no effort to reconcile this with me.

I came here on a Groupon. New to the area, I was looking for a place to get a good cut and color…read more The shop is in an old house. Very cute with ample parking. It was easy to find and right near downtown Homewood. Desiree did my hair, she suggested a cut that would be good for my face shape. She spent a lot of time cutting and shaping my hair. I am very pleased with the end result. The color and cut both look great and I have been able to style it to look the way it did in the salon. It was very nice to get my hair washed in a chair that reclined and I was able to put my feet up. No neck strain! The chair had a massager and I got a nice massage of my head as well.

I will follow her to the ends of the earth…read more No, really, I will - and I have. She is creative. She is witty. She is charming. She is fun. She is honest. She is my hair stylist. And, she is amazing at hiding my true hair color (shhhhh) She is so fabulous that some very special people (my 2 favorite cousins) actually come "all the way over from Atlanta" to get their hair done :-) SHE'S. THAT. GOOD. Let me first start by saying that when I moved here 16 years ago, I did NOT have high hopes of finding a stylist and I would be making that every-six-week trip back to Atlanta to have my hair done. For gawd's sake, I was moving to Birmingham ... How on earth would I ever find a stylist as good as mine at Jamison Shaw? However, after a year and a half, it seemed that I was destined to stay in this town, and I needed to quell my frequent trips to the ATL, or I'd be soon driving a SmartCar instead of my beloved German automobile. Try as I did to fight that ... It was time. Of course, with my (ahem - snotty) "I moved HERE from ATLANTA" attitude, I wanted the BEST hair stylist this town had to offer, and while I didn't really need it so much back then, I wanted a good colorist (back then I chose to color my hair not out of necessity, as I do now). I lived in Homewood and there was a charming little salon on the corner. It looked cool and it was an Aveda Salon. I asked for a consultation with the best stylist they had. A week later I had my frist appointment with Tori Watkins-Cantavespre. And, thus starts our relationship. Over the years, Tori has moved salons a few times, but I have followed her everywhere she goes (she just can't shake me!) - And for good reason. When I've had a need for "up-hair" - Tori at my rescue ... When I was bored with my "do", having NO idea what to do with it - Tori at my rescue ... When I wanted to lop it all off - Tori at my rescue ... When I wanted it to be long, thick and beautiful - Tori at my rescue & with complete honesty, told me "you want that, I can give you extensions - otherwise, I'm cutting it. NOW." HA! But that's what you get when you get Tori - Complete, and utterly unabashed honesty - I think a few more people could use this type of honesty in a hair colorist / stylist. Tori is, by far, the best colorist around. She's been touted as the best in the SE, even! And I agree, whole-heartedly with this assessment. She is innovative and clever, always on the lookout for new things to try on certain clients who would allow it (I would be one of those. I have never trusted my head to anyone but Tori and she has never failed me.) Tori's got clients of all ages and is able to expertly accomodate her mature clients as well as the youngest, hippest of teens, men and women alike - and she makes each one of them feel as if they are her ONLY client - special. She's a pretty darned good make up artist as well! This review is more about my stylist than the salon she's chosen to do business in at this point. But I'll give the salon the stage for a moment. Blonde is located in a small house, on a side street off the main drag in Homewood. The proprietor, Desiree, is quite possibly the sweetest gal ever, and she has created a warm, comfortable, relaxed environment for her staff and clients. While some might find it a bit "kitschy" with its glittered walls, it's a fun place! So, if you're looking for a new colorist and stylist 'cause your current one just isn't doing the trick, give Tori a call. I know it's a hard step to take - breaking up with your colorist / stylist is like a true divorce - you never know the backlash of that kind of action - but you will not be disappointed. I promise!

Daphne gave me grey streaks in the front and blond in the back. When I saw it, she saw the look on my face and preceded to say ( all are QUOTES) - it's so pretty ( about 6 times in a row - it takes 2 days to oxidize (anyone who knows anything about color knows this is bs) - (my personal favorite) you just need to let your eyes adjust This was a Thursday, she said if I still wanted something different, I could call her and come back on Monday. I was so upset, but am not one to make a scene. I paid and left. Then cried in my car. I looked up the salon, no website, but did learn John is one of the managers or owners ( not quite sure which) Thought this info was actually helpful. The next morning ( they open at 9, I got there at 9:30) I asked for the manager and was told by the receptionist they were all "very busy" but I should tell her and she could relay the message. I did not like that response but told her the story of the day before. She was sympathetic and agreed my hair was "definitely not" caramel. She then told me she would have a talk w Daphne and Daphne would fix this. I said. No, I do not want Daphne to touch my hair, I want John to fix it. He was the one I initially tried to make the appointment with and he gave me Daphne. She again said - I will go talk to him but he is very busy. While there is a door from the lobby to the back salon, there is no wall. I heard the entire conversation. She relay my experience and how upset I was and that I wanted him to fix it. He said- no, Daphne can fix it. Call her. She told him I didn't want Daphne. He said- "I don't care. I not doing it. I don't have time. Call Daphne." The receptionist came back to the counter and immediately picked up the phone and started dialing. I stopped her and asked- Are you calling Daphne? She said - It won't take her long to get here and this is an easy fix. I said- No. I heard exactly what he said. I will go somewhere else. She didn't try to stop me. This is one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had and The Absolute Worst experience at a salon. The fact that John couldn't even be bothered to speak to me, adds insult to injury. It was unbelievably dismissive and was obvious he could not care less. As stated in the beginning, I took them being full of clients as a good thing. It is apparent now, Salon 2000 in Trussville feels they have plenty of business, don't need new clients, and don't care if said client is satisfied with their service. To end this 2 day hair appointment, I will say I found Crave in Hoover, walked in the door, explained what happened asked if they could help and Sky, Francis, Jess & John (the owner) got me in a chair, LISTENED to me and fixed my hair to my absolute delight. I would cut and color my hair in my bathroom before I would ever stepped foot back in Salon 2000
