Chicken wings with honey mustard sauce
    Lynda G.

I have never heard of this restaurant so I wanted to give it a try. The staff was very friendly at all which is not the norm in the south so I took a start away for that reason. I ordered traditional wings in honey mustard sauce and a house salad with grilled chicken. Both the chicken and the salad were good in fact I went back 2 days later for the salad.

It's a typical fast food restaurant but with chicken. We went inside instead of using the drive thru so we could really look at the menu since we've never been to a Zaxby's. At first the cashier seemed to be impatient. I let her know we were not from the area and this was our first time and her demeanor became better. She explained everything to us nicely. We got Buffalo Garlic and Sweet & Spicy flavored wings. We also got chicken tenders and fries. I would not recommend sweet and spicy wings but the Buffalo Garlic was pretty good. The chicken tenders were juicy and seasoned well. The fries were seasoned well too. The soda machine had only Ginger Ale and Mello Yellow. It's one of the Coca Cola machines that you can choose many options and flavors from. I will say it must be popular because the drive thru and inside were busy.

    Fries

The sandwich was great--minus 1 star for the customer service and fries at this location. Are the fries always crap or is it just this location? Lol. I've never heard of zaxby's before. We needed a quick bite so we went thru the drive thru. The chicken sandwich is similar to Popeyes--breaded chicken with spicy sauce on top. I would say the chicken is better than Popeyes. It has less breading so the breading to chicken ratio is better. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich meal, but I didn't think it was really spicy. I'm not a big spicy food fan, and this wasn't spicy to me. The meal also came with crinkle fries in a box sprinkled with seasoning. The fries are okay--not my favorite. They seem old. The staff weren't that friendly. When we ordered, there was a person waiting with a handheld. He didn't have a menu so I didn't really know what to get. I've never been there so how am I supposed to know what's available?

First and last visit. Very slow service, chicken was fair at best and could possibly be the worst French fries ever.

This was a great stop for a casual meal and everything came out just right…read more I ordered a baked potato and a sandwich and both were really good. The baked potato was hot, fresh, and loaded well, and the sandwich was made perfectly with fresh ingredients and great flavor. It was simple food but done the right way, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable with a relaxed, easy going atmosphere. Even though it was a busy time, the service stayed friendly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Overall it was a solid experience with good food, good service, and a convenient spot to grab a satisfying meal. I would definitely come back again when I am in the area.

The food at this location was okay, but the customer service really missed the mark…read more We specifically asked for a baked potato with ranch on the side, but when the food came out, the ranch was already on the potato. I pointed it out right away, and the employee responded, "I told them, but they didn't listen to me," and just walked off. No effort to fix it or take ownership. I ended up taking the potato back to the counter myself and asked for it to be remade. When it was brought back out, the gentleman who delivered it didn't say a word--no apology, no acknowledgment, nothing. What made it more frustrating is that the restaurant wasn't busy at all--we were one of only two tables there. Situations like this are easy opportunities to provide good service, and unfortunately, that didn't happen here

We walked into Georgia Comfort…read moreKitchen off I-95 on one of those gray, damp Georgia afternoons, and from the first bowl of gumbo, the weather outside stopped mattering entirely. We ordered off the menu rather than the buffet -- though both were available and the buffet looked well-stocked and genuinely tempting. My husband had the Shrimp & Grits: Georgia shrimp over stone-ground grits with andouille sausage, peppers, onions, bacon, and a sherry cream sauce. Rumor had it that was the move, and the rumor was right. The grits alone were the kind you don't stop talking about -- velvety, deeply seasoned, the kind of base that makes everything sitting on top of it taste better than it already is. I went with the fried catfish, a side of mac and cheese, and a bowl of gumbo. Honest take: the catfish itself was good -- the fish was fresh and well-flavored -- but the batter had gone a little soggy, which kept it from landing where it could have. That's the kind of thing that varies by timing, not kitchen quality. The mac and cheese, though, was exactly what you want: cheesy without being gluey, hot all the way through, properly indulgent. And the gumbo -- chicken and sausage, rich and built with patience -- was the best thing on my side of the table. On a rainy afternoon in coastal Georgia, it was exactly right. Then there was the cornbread, served with peach cobbler butter. That detail alone tells you something about how this kitchen thinks. It's not an afterthought. It completed everything around it. I'm not from the South, and I won't pretend to have a lifetime of comparison points. But there's a kind of food that makes you feel like you were born into it anyway -- like your body already knew what it was tasting. That's what happened here. Good for road trippers, families, rainy days, and anyone who needs a real meal after a long stretch of highway. Four stars, with the grits alone pulling hard toward four and a half.
