I would give this restaurant about 3.5 stars. This Zaxby's is located on San Jose in front of the old Kmart. The restaurant seems to be in pretty good shape and the employees are nice enough. They have a coca cola freestyle machine which is great since I love customized drinks. The food is usually hot. However, sometimes the chicken can be overcooked and the oil doesn't seem to be changed often enough since I have gotten some items that turn out darker and have that odd old oil taste. I like the kickin chicken sandwich. I like the balance of spicy and cooling. The fries are not always fresh but they are well seasoned. I like to order the white cheddar bites, they are cooked to order so expect a wait, it is worth the wait though. If you go through the drive through, check your order, I have ordered as low as two things and have been parked to wait. When the order came out an item or two has been forgotten, when I went inside on one occasion, they acted like it was my fault for expecting the whole order when they brought it out and told me all was there. Went to Zaxby's last night for dinner and was very pleased at how fast the drive thru was. The person taking the order at the speaker was nice, despite a 4 year old screaming and changing her mind during the whole order; I don't know how he understood what I was ordering. At the window the young lady was nice, repeated our order and got it right. She took our payment and handed us our food and we were on our way. Probably the fastest Zaxby's visit I've ever had. Once home (5 mins away) the food was hot and ready for us. It was good and satisfying. I ordered online today after visiting my Dad for a while in Mandarin. I only had breakfast and kind of missed lunch. I only wanted a very lite meal, so I ordered two kid's meals to-go. No dine here. I like Zaxby's, pretty good chicken fingers and fries but the thing that keeps me coming back is their salads ( zalads according to them!) They have maybe 4 different salads each with either grilled or fried chicken, my fav is the black and blue which is salad topped with blackened grilled chicken, blue cheese crumbles, fried onion pieces, and tomatoes......it's really freakin good and I don't feel horribly guilty eating it! read more

What a disappointment...not much to say, at this location, it took us 20 minutes at the walk up counter to pickup what we thought was going to be a flavorful chicken sandwich. Needless to say that definitely wasn't what we got. After an excessively long wait for a luke warm, basic fried chicken breast (not even spicy coating) with a thin slice of chipotle cheese, does not a hot chicken sandwich make. The only reason for the 2 stars are for the French fries, they were hot and fresh. The ice dispensers didn't either work or had ice, just the topper to a bad meal. This is my first time having Zaxby's and I would say 3.5 stars. The place was nice and clean. They have the Coca Cola Multi-flavor machine which is nice. My fiancé and I ordered 20 sweet & spicy traditional wings, large side of fries, and a side of onion rings. The wings were flavored well tasting both the sweet and spicy and crispy. Good size wings. Easy to eat and very warm. We both were disappointed with the amount of fries given to us. We paid for a large and it looks like they given us a regular instead. It was on a small plate about the size of your palm. It was cooked well and crispy, but Not really worth an extra $3... Same thing goes to the onion rings, we thought it was going to be a decent amount but it was a bit little. The plate, again, is the size of your palm. It was good, but not worth the $3... From now on, I'll order just the wings. At least those were satisfying and good. I guess I expected a lot more since I read the good reviews in it. Maybe next time. read more

I come here probably 2-3 times a weeks and they give me my drink with no ice as requested and the correct amount of Zax sauce literally every time unlike other Zaxbys I've been to. Food always is raw in the middle. It happens every time that I visit an that's rare. The chicken wings are huge so they need to be cooked longer and the tenders are so tough to chew because they are raw as they are being served. The staff are children who doesn't take their jobs serious. Better customer service is needed aswell. read more

Have tried several times since I moved here at multiple locations. The chicken is pretty good, but not a fan of the sauce. If you have ever been up north and had Raising Cane's, most likely you would enjoy the sauce & say the chicken tastes better too. They have a bit wider menu options than Cane's, but I just don't think the taste and quality is there for Zaxby's for the price charged also. read more

I began ordering at 8:42pm and was told the dining room closes at 9pm. I said "that will not be an issue if it does not take long to get my food. I completed my order and had reciept in hand at 8:44:02pm. As I was making my drink no more than two minutes later, the young lady at the register called my name and said my order was ready and that she had to make it "to go" because the dining room closes in 15 minutes. I said I will be done in less than 15 minutes. She said "sorry". So I, in turn, asked "are you telling me i have to leave? I can't eat my dinner here?" She again said "sorry" adding that "it is the manager's rule because some customers have overstayed their welcome!" I asked if she was kidding me. to which she just said "I'm sorry". I asked for a customer complaint phone number to which I was told "the phone number is on the top of the receipt". The number was to that location. I explained I don't want to complain to the very person who wouldn't allow me to eat in the dining room. I want to talk to someone higher up. Maybe an owner or corporate. I was told that is the only number. The whole encounter was absolutely absurd and I hope to avoid Zaxby's for the foreseeable future. I drove home and ate my dinner and was still done by 9pm. After, I went to Zaxby's website and found a customer comment section (THEY DON'T MAKE IT EASY TO FIND!) and sent this same review to them. I received an email back this morning from the Director of Guest Services apologizing for the experience and that he "will have the General Manager investigate this matter and take the appropriate action to prevent this issue moving forward". I can't help but feel it was just lip service but I hope not. read more

This is a 50/50 split of good and bad. I've been going to this location for a while and I've had a TON of screw ups. From missing items to just completely wrong orders. I should have learned by now to check my food before leaving, but unfortunately I do not always think. I will however say that this location is quick to apologize and fix their mistakes! Today I ordered a kickin chicken and got home and realized I got a really gross looking filet sandwich with lettuce (just not something I'd eat, I'm very picky) I called the store and spoke to a manager named Travis who was very kind and fixed the problem quickly. We decided to try their new Southwest Chipotle Chicken Sandwich. There were 6 cars in line in the drive through, so we went inside where we thought we were 2nd in line. We didn't realize there were already 8 tickets in for people who were seated around the restaurant. It took LITERALLY 25 minutes to get a sandwich and fries. Seriously? 25 minutes??? Then when we got the food, the fries were great. Right out of the fryer. The sandwich, though, was luke warm, it MUST have been pre-fried and just put together and sat there waiting. Terrible. I never have a good experience here at this location. There is always an issue. Ranging from crappy attitudes by the staff or horrible service. One time I got the wrong order and the girl was arguing with me about what I actually ordered. Long story short I ended up having to get a refund through my bank. I've also wasted my entire thirty minute lunch break just trying to place an order bc they were incompetent on the computer. I did not get to eat that day. It's sad bc they could give chik fil a a run for their money if the service was better. Well the food is always good but the service at this location BLOWS! I will never come to this location again with the other one so close. Milkshakes are still on the menu but the lady rudely let me know that their location only discontinued them.. okay... Then I order the house salad and the chicken finger plate.. we didn't receive any dressing for the salad so we asked the girl at the front if we could have some, Obviously she then told us it would be 25 cents.. when we informed her that we hadn't received any she then started to argue with us to the point when I emptied the bag upside down just to prove my point. It's in the parking lot of an out of business Kmart and the road/traffic light is coned off so you can only go one direction getting out. The lady I interacted with was polite and enjoyable. The worst part for me was the wait!
