Stopped in for lunch on my trip to see friends in North Carolina. I was greeted by a friendly young man and was happy to answer my question as to where I was. He took my order with pleasure and just happened to be heading to dining area to check for cleanliness and so we chatted a little about the area. He delivered my salad to my table and it arrived fresh and very presentable. The chicken was warm, the vegetables were fresh, the salad had been made today. The dining area was clean, however the ladies restroom could use some touch up and one toilet was out of order. This is the only reason for the four star. I didn't like being rushed, looking at the ad on the counter first off. I placed my order for dine in, and it was out a few minutes later. I couldn't believe how FILTHY the tray was crumbs and everything else, even under my plate. When I quickly removed it and took pics, I didn't bother calling a manager the young man who put my tray on the table told the other kids take out the trash so I guess he was in charge. Out of all my ventures to fast food places whether they are Zaxby's or not, this is the greatest and bestest fast food chicken place of all time! I've probably consumed way too much chicken at this place, but only because the food is on point and I get my order the moment I pull around to the window. I thought fast food was dead, but this place gives me hope. Whoever's running this place knows what they're doing, and should be rewarded for bringing back the beauty of fast food when you come to this particular location, you're not just getting speed, you're getting quality as well. When I'm in the area-I say to myself, "hmm, Burger King sounds nice! But... Zaxbys though! I don't wanna wait in line for anywhere between 7 to 15 minutes for my food. I better play it safe and just go to the Zaxby's!" oh yeah, and did I mention the employees are awesome! They always have a great attitude, are friendly, and super patient! Today I had to come back a second time for a whole meal that had been missed the first time around. For the past two years, we were told we could get unlimited kids meals for .99 When I went tonight to the drive thru, I was told I could only get two kids meals at that price. I know that used to be how it was a long time ago, but I have been able to feed the kids for .99 each. Tonight, they changed their policy. Someone who appeared to be the manager was kinda rude. When we walked in there was no one at the register and we had to ask for somebody to take our order. While taking our order, the lady started at us and acted like we were supposed to tell her everything right there; salad dressing, drink size, and tried to have me pay for my food then take my sisters order. After we got our drink cups, the machine was not working and we had to ask for them to fill up our cups. The worker handed us back cups with no ice and room temperature sodas. When I ate at a Zaxby's for the first time several years ago, a friend of mine had told me that he liked their chicken wings. So I had taken his word for it and tried the wings, but didn't think they were a big deal. Once I discovered their Chicken Finger Sandwich with Zax sauce, I never ordered their wings again. This particular Zaxby's is a little out of the way but the closest one to my house, so naturally I come here most often. It's also a plus that this one offers various specials on "Zaxby's Dayz": - Wednesday is Zax Kidz Day - "99 cent Zax Kidz Meals with adult meal purchase." - Thursday is Nibbler Day - "99 cent Nibblerz all day." - Sunday is Bulletin Day - "Bring your bulletin in for 10% off your entire order." I've only taken advantage of Sunday's "Bulletin Day," when you can bring your church (or other religious organization's) bulletin and hand it to the cashier when you're ordering to get 10% off the total before tax. Apparently not all Zaxby's restaurants have "Zaxby's Dayz," so be sure to ask about it when you go to your favorite Zaxby's restaurant. I always order the same thing at Zaxby's - the Chicken Finger Sandwich meal with the Zax sauce on the side and NOT in the sandwich. This way, you get more sauce for no additional charge since it costs extra (I believe 50 cents each) for Zax sauce, UNLESS you ask for it on the side and the chicken fingers in the sandwich are not served covered with sauce. * Chicken Finger Sandwich Meal ($5.29) - Depending on the location, this meal can cost more or less than $5. I've seen some locations charge $4.99, but perhaps the costs have gone up due to inflation. The meal deal comes with a 22 oz. drink and crinkle fries. Sometimes, they will give you a LOT of fries, and sometimes they don't give you much. But I like the seasoning on the crinkle fries, which tastes even better dipped in Zax sauce. The Chicken Finger Sandwich itself is always served hot and delicious, but I have to give a lot of credit to the Zax sauce. The unique flavors of their signature sauce, which looks like Thousand Island dressing, is definitely my favorite thing about Zaxby's. Overall, this Zaxby's gets 4 stars for their *usually* fast and friendly service, great food, and their special Zaxby's Dayz during the week. I have gone in on a few occasions when the restaurant was PACKED on Sundays and the wait for my food was probably over 30 minutes. However, it usually isn't that bad. And in this economy, I love getting 10% off just for bringing in my church bulletin. (*NOTE - They will actually take it from you, so grab an extra one if you usually like to keep yours.) The bathrooms were dirty and out of soap - I think I could have handled the uncleanliness if there was at least soap stocked in the dispenser. One of the two paper towel dispensers were also empty. They have about 8 employees behind the counter, 2 on break eating dinner, and the bathrooms are dirty and not stocked. 2. Drink dispenser is dirty and not very responsive. Took me about 2 minutes to get my drink selected and dispensed. Should not have taken longer than 10 seconds. 3. I ordered way ahead of time for a 5:30 pickup. It is 5:51 and I still have not received the food. Nor has anyone taken responsibility. Whenever I ask if my order is ready yet, all I get is "it's being made." The place is dark but does have TV's and is generally pretty busy during lunch hour. It's quiet enough to have a light-business meeting lunch, but not clean enough for that to fill totally appropriate either. It's a simple chicken sandwich & many tines her same sandwich is given to another person. Our last trip they gave her no honey mustard sauce & after waiting 15 min she took what she got and left. When we got home it was too late to go back. The fries are the best part of Zaxby's...this location has yet to put seasoning on their fries. We usually wind up throwing salt on it at home.
