New location. Super clean lobby, restaurant and restroom-Yeah. Health score 100! Nicholas the cashier was friendly, and expedient. My Zensation salad was delivered quickly and fresh. Very delicious and filling. Hope the standard remains.

This week's team pick led us to try out the Hummus Republican. Overall rating: B+…read more Food: I had a chicken shwarma pita with chickpeas as a base and the zesty feta. The chicken was excellent. We've tried some other nearby places and the seasoning on the meat was very well done. I did have a disappointment - I ordered Kalamata olives on my pita and it was served with black salad olives (which I do not enjoy). I also ordered a jalapeño tahini dressing on the side (thankfully). It was very bitter and I skipped it (the sandwich really didn't need it either) Ambiance: the most odd thing ... for a Mediterranean restaurant, they were blasting country music. It was extremely loud and didn't match the vibe of the restaurant Menu: it's basically pitas, grain bowls, or wraps. You can essentially build your own at the kiosk. I was very disappointed to see that many, many items were out of stock. Thankfully, I wasn't looking for a soda bc they only had 1 flavor available.

Stopped by here kind of on a whim, and I was not disappointed. We were heading home on a day when the rain was coming down very heavily. We wanted to wait out the storm but didn't want to chance going somewhere where there would be a wait. We also had a taste for something fresh, so I hopped on Yelp and came across this place with pretty good reviews. When we walked in, a woman was leaving and complimented one of the employees saying, "I'll definitely be back." At that point, my expectations were a little higher. Like a lot of places, the concept is simple: pick your base (rice, greens, etc), protein, veggie toppings, and sauce/dip toppings. I chose the field greens and kale as my base, chicken shawarma, plus cucumber, tomato, roasted pepper/garlic/onion blend, zesty feta, tzatziki, crumbled feta, olive oil, and spicy green sauce on the side. The chicken was full of flavor and wasn't dried out at all. The sauces were really good, too. The flavors just came together really nicely, more than some of the other more common places with this model (including the other place that has crazy feta). My husband really enjoyed his meal as well. We've been back once more since our first visit. I ordered pretty much the same thing, except for my third "dip" I chose hummus instead of getting a second helping of the zesty feta, and I added crunchy chickpeas on top. The employees have been very kind, patient, and attentive each time. And the space was very clean and quiet both times if you're considering dining in. Highly recommend Hummus Republic!

The hightop tables were a bit too high for us, but the other traditional seating was great with a candle at every table. We ordered all types of things. The pulpo (octopus) and baked mussels really stood out as our favorites. Owner/manager came out to speak with us. The ambiance is classy while not being stuffy, with business casual dress code. All of the staff were welcoming and kind to us, from the hostess to our waitress to the food runners. We shared several tapas: paella verduras, Pulpo parrilla (grilled octopus), Pan con tomate, empanadas with beef, Calamares fritos (calamari) , Espárragos (asparagus), and Patatas bravas. Everything was absolutely delicious! One of my favorite items of the night was the bread with tomato (pan con tomate)! The bread was toasted perfectly and came with garlic and grated tomato to spread on it, along with a sprinkling of greens. My typical favorite at Spanish restaurants (patatas bravas) was done very well here too, with the right crunch and tasty sauces. The perfectly tender octopus came with a side of beans that I wished to ask for the recipe for because they were seasoned so nicely! The calamari was breaded lightly which allowed the natural flavors to shine. The beef empanadas were juicy and crisp. The asparagus was cooked to perfection. The vegetable paella was also filling and wonderful! We ended our meal with the toffee butter cake which was an absolute dream. We look forward to coming back for more!

We arrived about two hours prior to them closing, which turned out to be perfect, as we beat the crowd and before they stopped taking orders. That was my only negative observation, many people were turned away nearly an hour before closing. I know I would have been upset if I drove all the way to Decatur and couldn't place an order. Hopefully, they will improve their processes so everyone can experience the greatness that they're cooking up! When we arrived, one of the owners greeted us with a lively personality. She handed us menus and told us to select a seat. The seating is spacious, and you can opt to sit at the bar, a table, or outdoors. It's open seating, so it's first come, first served. After selecting a seat, our server arrived shortly thereafter and let us know that the shrimp fries were out of stock before we ordered. We were hungry, so we already knew what we wanted to order. I chose the "THAT SH!T SLAMBING" with feta cheese, initially opting out of the fries, but I don't think the server heard me, and my husband ordered the "Who Wants Beef" with fries. Everything was cooked fresh to order, so there was a slight wait. I would recommend planning accordingly if you're really hungry, as the wait maybe longer than expected. We also shared a Jumex Nectar, as they only had one left. While waiting, I was told they were out of feta cheese, though I saw a dish with feta come out after ours; however, they may have ordered it before us. I was still a bit disappointed, as I believe the feta would have taken my lamb burger to another level. When our food arrived, it was hot and fresh. I was glad I ended up with fries, as I was hungrier than I thought. The burgers were amazing and seasoned to perfection. You can tell the chef is cooking with passion, as you can taste it in every bite. I also appreciate that they utilize farm-to-block sourcing, providing fresh, handcrafted, high-quality food. If you've been considering dining here, don't hesitate any longer, just go! Be sure to arrive early or call ahead for takeout. I highly recommend this place and look forward to visiting again!
