We had a wonderful time at Zarandaja for our school trip's goodbye dinner! The restaurant itself is small, so our group of 17 took up about half of the indoor area. The staff was kind enough to rearrange their furnishings to fit us into a big table.
The food was marvelous! Don't be scared by the two € on Yelp - the large portions of the plates (plenty for a full meal) are around 10€ each, which is not bad at all! When a surprisingly large number of people ordered chicken rods (very crunchy chicken fingers), the owner and waiter came to advise us that we had ordered an enormous amount of food and wanted to give some suggestions on substitutions and eliminations to our table's order to better enjoy our huge meal. We took their suggestions and appreciated them. The jamón ibérico and manchego cheese plates we ordered as group appetizers were very high quality and delicious. My own meal was the bacalao enrollado (cod fillets stuffed with smoked salmon and covered with aioli sauce. The aioli was overwhelmingly covering the entirety of the fillets, so I had to scrape most of it away to really enjoy the fish. The fish was very fresh and cooked at the perfect texture, once I got rid of the aioli! The rest of our table seemed to enjoy their meals very much. I think we ordered a majority of the items available on the menu between the lot of us.
Service was impeccable - the most attentive, prompt, and caring that we experienced in our 10 days in various cities of Spain. Highly recommended! read more
