    1/4 Zappy's Chicken Dinner

A small cafe on a corner of the street. I came here with my family for a quick lunch stop. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They have Pepsi products. My sister in law was able to get her gluten-free bread, my niece was able to ask for gravy for her mashed potatoes - they offered her chicken, beef, or sausage gravy. The portion was big and filling for a great price. The environment was small and cozy. We would definitely come back.

I always try to eat at this restaurant when I'm in town. The food is not only excellent but so is the service. They have good old homestyle cooking. On a previous trip, we arrived with 13 people, and they not only served us but also their other customers efficiently, without a long wait. This time, we ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with Tator Tots and the 1/4 Broasted Chicken. Tator Tots and chicken were crispy and perfectly cooked. The burger was good, and the mashed potatoes had the skins in them, which gave a good texture and had great flavor.

We were here twice. The first day, I enjoyed the omelet from the senior menu. It was very good and filling. The second morning, I had one egg with sausage and toast. The toast was a little burnt and the sausage a little dry but okay tasting. Overall I would say that it is a good place for breakfast.

Great spot for breakfast, we stopped in after we saw the Giant Paul Bunyan statue just up the road. I had the classic eggs benedict, my wife had the 2 Egg, Meat, Hash Browns and Toast meal, son had the biscuits and gravy. We also got a side of the Apple Fritter French Toast. All in all the food was good, service was a bit slow...but it was OK. Just the cook and the server taking care of about 5 tables. Good solid breakfast spot, close to the Paul Bunyan State Forest and the trails. We will go back.

This a decent little gem tucked away along the path of the great north travel path. I had the eggs Benedict for breakfast. It came with hash browns. A plain American staple, nothing unique or fancy. I felt like the hardy helping was the epitome of comfort food. I'm an endless pit when it comes to food, and this plate filled me right up. Our waitress was also the host. We dined when there was only one other party. She was attentive and kind, we felt welcomed. She was on top of refilling our coffee, which we badly needed! She was adequate pertaining to time, but kitchen services was slow. Who knows, during Covid they may have had a ton of to go orders, which is understandable. And our food cane out hot and fresh. The menu is extremely adorable. Good hearty helpings, too. Don't expect to have your socks knocked off, but do anticipate a casual experience and a happy, full tummy.

Right off the Heartland Trail, this small cafe delivers a decent meal at a more than reasonable price. I noticed the waitress delivering overflowing plates of food on the first day, so I opted for the smaller meals: 2 pieces of glorious Apple Fritter French Toast (skipping the syrup since it was perfection with butter on it), and a bowl of Oatmeal the next morning. I liked it so well that we came to eat here two days in our weekend! Great service, good honest food, reasonable prices...what more could you ask for? Check them out if you are in the region!

Stopped by this little Cafe on my way back from working Up North. Nice little place, but the Lunch was just okay, along with the service. Out of a lot of stuff. I think this may have be due to it being a Monday. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here, but not many choices in this little town. Just okay for me on this visit.

My sister and I enjoy breakfast here almost every Tuesday. I love everything about this place, food, service, prices, you name it. I encourage you to stop by and check it out.

Cute little spot. It was busy when we popped in for a Friday morning breakfast. Service was friendly and I really enjoyed my veggie omelet. It exceeded my expectations. The place is no frills and prices are reasonable. I'd go back for another omelet.

ALCOHOL CATERING REVIEW:…read more The bartender from Spanky's was friendly, professional, and kept drinks flowing efficiently throughout our wedding. They created a welcoming atmosphere for our guests. Our signature drinks--beer for him and mojitos for me--were done perfectly, and we received many compliments on them. As a note, the venue requires Spanky's for all alcohol services, so they are affiliated. There was a hiccup with our honeymoon fund jar and bar tips. We had pre-ordered drinks through Spanky's, and the required gratuity was over $500 before any services were provided. We would have preferred the opportunity to tip based on service. We also weren't aware that tip jars would be out for the liquor items (venue responsibility, not the bar's), and the jar wasn't labeled to indicate what had already been pre-tipped. On the wedding day, the bar staff ended up moving our honeymoon fund jar off the bar, and unfortunately, it did not receive any contributions. Overall, the bartenders were professional and pleasant, and after messaging with the owner, we learned the situation was unintentional. Spanky's resolved the issue promptly, and the owner was a pleasure to work with, taking steps to improve the process for future couples.

The one star is definitely deserved and it goes to the ambiance which is beautiful comfortable and…read moreinviting. Unfortunately the ambiance is the only redeeming quality we found. One of the specials was a smoked salmon and dill dip I asked if it was served hot or cold and was told hot so I said we'd take it. Somehow we were served the spinach and artichoke dip; it was flavorless and piping hot but also cold in some spots as was the rest of the food. My fiancé ordered the porter house pork chop with the mashed potatoes and sauerkraut and it came with a salad. I ordered the Trust me which is all chefs choice. I told the waitress I was allergic to parsnips since I knew that was a vegetable option but didn't give any other parameters for my meal. My fiancés pork-chop was overcooked and dry the barbecue sauce was the only thing on our table the whole meal that had flavor. The chef prepared for me a sword fish over couscous in a béarnaise sauce. The first few bites of the fish were way over cooked and dry the last few bites were moist and cooked well the couscous was both crunchy (undercooked) as well as mushy (overcooked) neither the fish nor the couscous had any flavor which was very disappointing. Along with the fish was a petite sirloin which was very tough and dry and lacked any flavor; there was chimichuri sauce on the steak that definitely wasn't made correctly it was sweet and didn't taste at all like parsley. Under the steak was roasted broccoli and cauliflower which was also somehow overcooked but not cooked enough which seemed to be the theme of the evening. When the waitress asked how everything was I said fine because honestly I was so over it and had eaten a decent amount already since I was so hungry. Needless to say we won't be back.
