We passed by this restaurant on the way to the Cork Gaol and I felt tempted to try out how a Mexican restaurant in Ireland compares with the ones in New Jersey. Without much to expect, honestly. But it turned out that this contemporary joint provided one of the best flavorful food we tried in Cork!
The fact that they donated meals gives it a nudge among the rest (the slogan Let's Beat World Hunger in neon light greeted you as you order your food and you eat while staring at a giant counter showing how many meals they've donated so far).
Just like many other new restaurants in the US and on this planet, this restaurant provides a select-your-own fill of your burritos/quesadillas/((fill in the blanks)). The dining room shares its space with an ice cream/fondue counter on the other side of the room. Service is standard (it's a fast food joint afterall), but friendly. The classic food we ordered, such as the soft tacos and hearty rice salad bowl turned out to be very well made. Fresh, not too dry, flavorful, and while it's not a match to more authentic Mexican home-cooking (it's never meant to be), it's still a feast of flavors worthy of mention.
