Chicken and chorizo burrito with rice, chips, and salad
Veronica D.

There are plenty good spuds to be had all over this country, but after a week of sampling the Irish cuisine a Mexican girl from San Diego, CA was in serious burrito withdrawals! Casita Mexicana turned out to be a win! Rather than traditional Mexican food as the name implied this place was more of a wild fusion of "new age" Hispanic foods, oh and throw in the Aztecan decor! There were Mexican items on the menu, Spanish style tapas, Tex-Mex flavor, and hey, would it be Ireland without the chips (fries)! The location was just a short walk off the main road with parking out front. The decor was welcoming with figures on the walls and menu that look Aztecan rather than the Mexican sombrero wearing rancher. The nacho appetizer was served Spanish style, each item parted out as a tapa. Not the usual pile on one plate. Regardless... the flavor of meat, guacamole, cheese and chips was fantastic. What I assume was their version of pico or fresca, was sweet but still delish! I asked for their hottest salsa and I was given BBQ sauce, with 0 heat. No big, I asked to add jalapeño to my chorizo and chicken burrito. The burrito was delicious, but again, more of a Tex-Mex flavor. Also worth mentioning, it was served somewhat wet burrito style, required silverware to eat it. Service was friendly and attentive. Totally worth trying out if you are on potato overload!

Mmmmm beer.

This place was definitely a bit of the beaten path! We were enjoying our last 'on our own' evening at the end of our 9 day tour of Ireland. We thought we would look for something that would remind us of home so of course being American, we looked for Mexican (-: We had an excellent meal. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. I would absolutely eat there again. Thanks so much!

Absolute RIP OFF. How can they justify charging 18 euro for a burrito and about 10 fries??!!

When the food came out, we discovered many of our tapas plates also had bread on them. BREAD OVERLOAD. Other than that avalanche of carbs, the food was good. We ordered a bottle of Rioja and everything was reasonably priced. This is a great place to dine in Killarney if you're looking to get away from the meat and potatoes.

Another nice thing is that this isn't on the main street so not as much foot traffic walking past, and the environment inside is a nice low light eating experience. The only complaints I have that gives them 4 stars instead of 5 is the service. At first they tried to sit us in some crappy little table, even though they had nicer tables available. We asked and they moved us no problem. And when it came to ordering and serving they were great, but as we finished up our food the server vanished. She never came back to see if we wanted dessert or more drinks, which we would have ordered, and spending more money. We eventually lost interest in more drinks or food, and we eventually had to walk to the counter to get a check and pay. Other than that though, fantastic place and i would eat here again.

Our dinner was a welcome alternative to classic Irish cuisine. We made reservations, arrived early, and were seated promptly. They have a time limit on the tables, and very generous by American standards. Our wait staff were friendly, helpful, and there when we needed them. We found the atmosphere to be warm, comfortable, relaxed, friendly, and rustic. It was also cool to peak into the Kitchen and watch one of the owners in made-to-order action. One thing about tapas/pintxos restaurants is that 2 things sneak up on you as you continue to order small plates: the overall bill and how full you become before you know it. For the 4 of us, our total came out to 161 Euros (including a 12.5% service charge), which I thought was a good value for the quality of food and drinks received. Our choices included 4 different glasses of wine from a very nice list, with prices ranging from 10-16 Euros. We also had 1 coffee and 3 Herbal teas at the end. In between, our food choices were: - Grilled Sour Dough, Confit Cherry Tomatoes & Dingle Sea Salt + Extra - Roasted Almonds - Crisp O Connors Spuds "Bravas Style" Manchego & Aioli - Chorizo Sausage - Chorizo & Manchego Croquette, Aioli, Dingle Sea Salt - Fig Tempura, Dingle Goats Cheese, Peppered Honey - Potato Hash We enjoyed all our choices, with the only one comment that the croquette was a bit rich for our pedestrian tastes. We'd gladly come back to explore the menu further, which probably changes from time to time.
