Since I had only been using TurboTax before, I didn't have much experience in working with professional tax advisors and I contacted Yan after reading some reviews on Google/Yelp. The experience of using her for my CPA was completely different compared to the previous one I had. She was very detailed and meticulous in checking each detail of my situation, and also didn't pretend to know everything - if there was an issue that she wasn't clear about, she didn't hesitate to look up the necessary IRS documentation to make sure that we weren't making any mistakes. Even after our meetings in-person going over documents, she would also follow-up and double-check to make sure that I hadn't inadvertently overlooked something (and she did find a bunch of details that I had filled in incorrectly as well through this process!) She was also more interested in making sure that I understood the process and what each document was for, rather than just taking everything into her own hands and just asking me to "rubber-stamp" documents. I really appreciate her spending the effort to help with my tax literacy. I first submitted a profile which was very easy to do. They do a good job cutting the barriers to employment. Within a day, I was contacted by Julia B. We set up an initial interview to just get to know me. We had such a pleasant conversation. Despite the current Pandemic Crisis we are in, we were able to discuss our thoughts on the situation because it is unavoidable, then we proceeded to the interview. It was smooth, she was clearly an eloquent communicator and very passionate about her job. She informed me next steps and we were done in our allotted 15 minute time frame. Get two HR Professionals in a room that truly understand service for others and what the HR profession is about and you will quickly notice 30 minutes is not a lot of time. Looking for an alternative program to migrate to I heard a lot about QuickBooks, but am rather 'old-school' and was trying to avoid putting our business accounting in the cloud and having a direct link from online bookkeeping to our checking account.
