If you haven't tried Afghani cuisine you need to, and I'm not talking about kababs. Nothing wrong with kababs, I love those to but this place is something way more than that!
We first discovered Humayun and his amazing cooking at the farmers market in Stafford last year. I couldn't pronounce most of the dishes and he took time to explain them and tell me his story.
I am still learning how to pronounce the names of the dishes but I haven't had a single thing that didn't make my taste buds happy!
When we came in we were greated promptly by the friendly staff, Christian made a point to come down from their amazing lounge/bar area upstairs to welcome us and make some recommendations. Humayun took time to come out of the kitchen to welcome us, he even remembered us from the farmer's market! He really is about the local community!
Their menu changes with the seasons so they can use fresh locally sourced ingredients as much as possible.
Today's menu was served tapas style, which was awesome because we were able to try several different dishes! I recommend checking them out on social media or their website for current menus.
My son was with me and was skeptical when the first plate came out, like umm how am I going to get full Dad? By the time we finished he was stuffed!
We had:
-House chutnies with fresh naan
-Spinach Borani an amazing dip I suppose you would call it? We ate it with the naan and some on the Qubeli Palaw as well
-Salata fresh salad with house made dressing
-Mantu delicious dumplings
-Qubeli Palaw eat this! It will change your life! I can't explain it other than that!
-Lamb Shank - my son's choice, he's a huge fan of lamb. Usually I find it too dry for my taste. I am now a huge fan of lamb too! Literally falling off the bone and so tender you cut it with your fork!
The order the food was brought out added to the experience as well. I can only assume that was chef's choice because I don't know enough about food to pick what I should eat first. Truly felt like an elegant meal in a friendly home.
They do have many other selections and desert. We were too full for more tonight but will be back soon for sure! read more
