This review is LONG overdue. Zackry Cooper was our loan agent on a new home purchase through KB Homes. Zackry was the "preferred agent" which entitled us to a 10k closing credit. I can say with all honesty that I would have gladly paid the 10k in closing to not have to deal with this company. They were incredibly unresponsive at every step of the way. We had a target date that we needed to close by due to an expiring lease at our rental and scheduled movers and everyone was able to do what was necessary to hit the target except for Zackry Cooper. No one ever answered their phone regardless of when we called. No one returned calls and typically had to leave messages over a few days span to get a response. We have our house but our experience with Zackry Cooper left a huge negative impression on the entire process. I wasn't planning on writing a review as this experience was 2 years ago. Here is why I am writing... They CONSTANTLY bombard us with spam mail, calls, text messages, etc. A week after we moved in to our home, we got a mailer from Zackry Cooper telling us that he had personally reviewed our loan and we were not getting the best rate possible, asking us to refinance. YOU GOT US THIS RATE ZACK! We closed a week ago! No matter what you do, they won't stop sending you junk mail, emails, calls, texts. The kicker came this week. I received an email from Zack letting me know that he had signed me up to receive emails from a third party. Gee thanks Zack! Spam from you isn't enough so you are signing me up for your buddy's garbage as well? Lot's of great reviews here but as a person who has previously bought a home with another broker that actually worked to help us, I would avoid like the plague. Buying a home in this market is not easy. You need a broker that is responsive, experienced, and, quite frankly, aggressive. Zackry and his team are all of these things, and we likely would not have been able to get the house that we wanted for the price that we wanted without them. We are first-time homebuyers. I was referred to Zackry by our real estate agent, and he answered the first time I called. He walked me through the process clearly and concisely, then put me in touch with someone on his team to start gathering the necessary paperwork (there's a lot). The site used to upload all the docs was easy enough to use, and within a week we had our preapproval. Jon Bridge is the back-of-house guy there, and he walked us through our preapproval. Being first-time homebuyers, we had lots of questions, and he answered them all in a way that was easy for us to understand. He explained to us how preapprovals were calculated, and that we had some room to move up in price if we wanted, but there was no pressure applied. We did not have a completely straightforward lending situation, and Jon helped us get all our ducks in a row before we started making offers, so that we could move quickly when needed. And so we started making offers on houses. Zackry and his team are able to meet the competitive "close of escrow" timeline that are table stakes in making an offer. There are so many ways to lose out on an offer, you don't want it to be because your COE was too long. We lost the first two bids, mainly because of conservative pricing and an unwillingness to drop key contingencies. Finally we had an offer accepted! This is where Zack and his team really earned their money. The first appraisal did not match the sale price (maybe good in a buyer's market, but bad in this market - makes the down payment too large unless the seller lowers the price). Zackry and his team quickly recognized some fundamental errors in how the first appraisal was calculated, appealed it, and had a new appraisal complete before the end of the week. Meanwhile, because of his relationships in the area, Zackry was able to keep things moving along with the seller's agent, and we were able to close on the agreed open date. We took possession of our house last week. There is not a lot that differentiates lenders at face value. Similar rates, similar fees, etc. With Zackry's team, you get the peace of mind of having full transparency into the mechanism that gives you an obscene amount of money/debt, as well as an ally that will close the deal in a market where deals fall through more often than you'd expect. 100% recommend. read more

We have gone with Zackry Cooper's office (People's Home Equity) for our original mortgage and a refinance and their service is fantastic. Here are some specs: 1. On the original mortgage, we were moving to California from Massachusetts and had to close both houses within 72 hours of each other while we were driving across the country. Without the coordination and organization of everyone in Zackry's office we would have been so lost. They definitely went the extra mile to make sure all the pieces were in place and got us in our new home the moment we rolled into town after an exhausting trip. 2. On the refi, we worked with Stephanie and Natasha and they worked out a variety of different scenarios and helped us get the best deal possible. Not only were we able to lower our interest rate, we were able to claim a much larger equity stake (due to a better appraisal), and take a cash-out option to put into some long-term projects. Everything was smooth and expedient. What we loved about working with Zackry's office. 1. No one pressured us into anything.
