What an amazing experience! My wife and I attended Dear Evan Hansen at the Zach Theatre. We didn't know much about the storyline, but decided to check it out. First of all, the parking situation was easy. You pay $15 to park right outside of the venue. Secondly, the staff were extremely friendly and guided us to will call and to our seats. Prior to the show and during the intermission, there are bars available to order beer, cocktails, wine and snacks. They also offer complimentary small bites before the show. They had a woman performing live music before the show as well, which was a nice treat. The venue was small and intimate so there are no bad seats in the building. Lastly, the show itself was phenomenal. It had us hooked in within the first 5 minutes. The actors were fantastic and had great voices. The topics and themes throughout the play were deep and profound. When my wife and I left, we found ourselves in insightful conversation as we discussed our thoughts after the show. Definitely a great experience and we will absolutely return to see another show! We will most likely bring our friends and family with us when we come back!

Came here for a show of Charlottes Web. It was so fun and so interactive and everyone had a blast.

I was lucky enough to see the world premiere of Zapata tonight. It is so nice to see some original material and music! I was so impressed to see what they did with this show with just 5 people. The set was fun, and the round Whisenhunt theater was used really well, and makes for great people watching. I loved the back and forth of English and Spanish, although you don't need to be bilingual to understand what is going on. I loved the themes that were explored, from nodding to ICE with the character Helado, to wielding la chancla as a superpower, this show has layers! This show is also a tight 70 minutes, no intermission, and something kids to adults of all ages will enjoy. Lucero Garcia as Xochitl is a star with an incredible voice, and everyone else serves some serious face! The original main song "hero" is my favorite. Get yourself down to the Camino de Estrellas and enjoy this new show at Zach during it's original run. Andale, Zapata!

The Zach Theatre plays some of the best shows and musicals in Austin. I watched the musical Waitress here recently. The diner set on stage was very well set up and looked quite realistic. The show was great and I was thoroughly impressed by the performance of all actors, especially the lead actress who played Jenna. They are all very talented. Parking is available at the adjacent lot for $12.

As a former drama teacher and forever thespian, I was amazed stepping into the world of Austin's ZACH Theatre for the very first time with their wonderful production of The Wizard of Oz. We went for my daughter's birthday and--my oh my--lions and tigers and bears, oh my! This production was worth every penny. The band, the performers, the ushers, the bartenders, everyone played a part in bringing the magical world of Oz to life for our family. For my daughter, this is her absolute favorite book and story, and you truly made her dreams come true. At a time when we recently learned she has some heart issues, this story carried even more weight for us. Tears filled our eyes as the Tin Man gave one of the best performances we've ever seen. And as a little tap dancer herself, my daughter was amazed by what she saw on stage. Thank you, ZACH Theatre and the entire company, for bringing it home. This memory will stay with our family forever.

This place is great...well-oiled machine. I've never had a bad experience with this theater. From purchasing tickets either online or using the phone to get help with ticket questions to when I made a mistake and purchased the wrong tickets, they helped me fix it. The experience is always wonderful here. There is not a bad seat in the house. Their parking situation is also quite easy. Love it!

Can't say enough good things about the numerous shows I've come to see at Zach Theatre. Firstly, I'm a huge fan of musicals and the actors here are top notch with absolutely incredible voices. Most recent show was A Christmas Carol and it was wonderfully done with the insertion of new aged music woven through the story. I have to say though that my absolute favorite thus far was The Carole King show - such a beautiful story and fantastic music throughout. Please go and support these guys - they work so hard and it's always money well spent!!

I am still so absolutely pleased with the quality performances Zach offers and presents. The actors, young, students, and professionals, combine to put on smooth shows that clearly entertain audiences. I cannot recommend more highly than this for you to check out a performance become a season ticket holder or sign up to be an XP member (so you can see as many shows as you want as often as you want). I've become an XP member; it has enriched my life! There are shows I've seen 3 or 4 times! Go to Zach Theatre!

I messed up and accidentally bought tickets for the wrong night. They were nice enough to exchange them for tonight as I was already thete. So incredibly helpful. Jersey boys is a good play.

Zach Theatre is a fantastic venue for the kinds of programs they offer. My wife and I have seen Evita and recently Jersey Boys, the story of The Four Seasons. Both programs were very well done and highly entertaining. The venue is perfect and I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. We look forward to future productions at Zach

From entering the theater to the sounds of live piano to the smiling and helpful ushers to the signature cocktails, this intimate theater excels in making their patrons feel like welcome old friends. There is not a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are wonderful. Upstairs bar provides nice views of downtown, comfy seating and another bar area. Also, the popcorn is excellent! (And they are a great place for a school field trip; Zilker park is right there for picnicking)

As a classroom teacher, I loved field trips to the ZACH theater, yet I don't really go to events for myself. I went there on Wednesday for a preview of Jersey Boys, and I loved it! I have only been to the Bass Concert Hall for musicals, and wasn't sure I would like ZACH. The theater felt small and intimate. The show was great. The line for the bar prior to the show was not bad. Like Jones hall they offer you a choice to pre-order of your drink for intermission, which I absolutely love. It's the little things...

He does a family friendly show so there were a lot of people there with kids, Full families, moms, dads, grandparents. We were one of the few without kids. The staff was very friendly at the entrance, the bar, and when seating. The place is pretty big and has upstairs and downstairs seating as well as a bar on several levels. Two points that did bring the visit a little down. The seating, you are packed in like sardines. No room to stretch even a little, you bump against the stranger next to you or them into you. It is almost worse then an airplane. Two no handrails on several stairs which are also uneven. I have some ongoing spine and foot pain and it caused me issues but I saw several other people struggling and one almost falling themselves. Had it been just me or maybe one other person that would be bad enough but as several people struggled that is a huge safety issue and should be fixed. The ushers helped when they could but sometimes they were helping others and didn't see it happen. Still it was a fun time, if a bit cramped. The staff is great and I love the history but that also means it is very outdated and not very comfy to sit for an hour or more, especially with no intermission.

AP relies on a cast of seasoned local talent, including the brilliant and talented Michael Stuart, to provide a broad variety of theatrical productions each season. For live theater, the prices are reasonable, with half-price student tickets and guest ticket discounts for season ticket holders. The one thing I really appreciate about this venue is (and I repeat myself) the intimacy of the seating and stage. The stage literally ends at the edge of the first row. The most distant seats are no more than twenty feet from the stage, making the production even more real and audience connected. You get the feeling you are literally part of the play; there is no significant degree of separation between the actors and the audience. The other thing that I love is that it's literally a working company. Don Toner himself will often call back to confirm seating reservations. If it's not Don, it's frequently one of the other cast members. When you have a special request, there is no "box-office" detachment. And, at the end of the play, Don's waiting at the door to shake your hand and welcomes your comments regarding the performance. If you'd asked me ten years ago if I would ever be caught dead watching five plays a year, my answer would have been an emphatic "no". Thanks to one of Don's Actor's Equity members, John Hoff, I got hooked. John's no longer connected with the group as he's living in Colorado, but I thank him for instilling the appreciation for this troup in me. P.S. One of their most acclaimed productions is "Dead Presidents' Club", which is showing for one more day (11/9/2008) at Evans Auditorium at Texas State University-San Marcos. If you have time to catch this production today, do so. If you miss, pray for a summer revival in 2009!
