I've never been around llamas or alpacas before, not even at a zoo, and this was a fun experience. It was a trip when Cassidy, our guide, brought the animals to the pen from the ranch. They're free roaming, so watching them follow her car was fascinating to me. Most of the animals weren't super into being pet, but Cassidy let us know which ones were more people friendly and less likely to walk away. She did warn us about Grace, the "mean one," but we didn't have any issues with her. A highlight was interacting with the goats and Llama Joe, the ranch's mascot. This was such a gem destination during our trip down to SB. We booked this for our daughter (2 years old) to experience being close to llamas & alpacas. This WAS an amazing experience. Cassidy was so warm & welcoming , she is also the only person on the property & very good at pivoting peoples schedules & trying to be mindful of their time on the ranch. I felt bad for her though because people would come out of no where & she'd just warmly welcome them to join in on the current group, or kindly wait for their reservation time. From spending time with each animal, pigs, chickens & then the stars llama/alpaca & goats - 10/10. Cassidy is transparent about every animals temperament & she tells you their personal little "know about them." If it wasn't for our toddlers nap time, we'd probably spend hours there. The gift shop was very lovely too- we wanted to buy a bunch of llama dolls but our toddler wasn't having it & had to go. What a beautiful location this was to get to do yoga on their property! As soon as the yoga music was turned on, the alpacas came out to look over the fence to see what us humans were up to! They have very cute faces and I was able to get some pics of them up close after class. I walked around the property a bit more and heard some goats calling out for us too! This was the absolute highlight of our trip. I was looking on TikTok for things to do with a toddler in the Solvang area and saw a video about Zaca Creek Ranch. I made our reservations and we had a wonderful time. My baby is 18-months-old and her favorite book is Llama Llama Red Pajama. She was able to interact with the llamas and alpacas which was so cool. Now I want pet llamas and alpacas, too. They were so sweet. She was able to see pigs, chickens, roosters, dogs, goats, and cows. She was able to feed the goats and cows. Didn't know what expect but it was a memorable experience! Follow the directions given as we missed the turn off and had to go back. It was a bigger place than expected but the views were spectacular! Wear comfortable shoes, we walked on grass and hills and all over. We took a farm tour this past weekend with Kali. When i say she is a GREAT guide, i mean it. Very friendly, knowledgeable, informative, patient with all the questions we had, and even knew some cool local city stats. We can tell the animals on tbe farm receive a lot of love and are well cared for. We went to see the llamas and alpacas, and ended up falling in love with the farm's dogs and pigs. My wife checked reviews before we went so we had high expectations. We were with "Hayley" as our tour guide. Tour guide seemed uninterested and like her mind was on other things, seemed annoyed whenever asked to many questions... Didn't get the experience we were hoping to. Kids said it was boring. This is a beautiful ranch with happy and healthy animals and the most wonderful manager and tour guide, KALI! She was knowledgeable, patient, friendly and very easy-going. My family and I had a great time visiting and learning about the llamas, alpacas, goats, pigs and life on the farm. The alpaca fiber (wool) is turned into all kinds of lovely items that are for sale in the gift shop and make all kinds of gifts for others or for yourself. I took my wife and kids for Mother's Day. We were pleasantly surprised with how top notch everything was! Beautiful scenery, wonderfully cared for animals that you can get very close to, and a phenomenal guide, Kali. My 9 and 6-year old kids were thoroughly immersed into the experience as the time went very quickly. I asked where we could go for a picnic lunch when we were booking our tour and Hayley graciously offered us the opportunity to use a couple picnic tables on site. I would encourage you to arrive 10 minutes early as it's a little ways off of the 101 and the tour doesn't start till everyone arrives so please be timely and courteous.
