This place is very popular, came here for dinner and a couple drinks while in Castle Rock for a meeting. The pasta was really well made and enjoyed their pizza as well. We share the Beef Short Rib Fettuccini and a Margherita Pizza. The crust was a little burnt but it was still edible. Service was fair, start off strong but then as we ate and finished it seemed as if our waiter lost interest in serving us as we didn't look like we wanted to order more, but i really could have used more beer. Sat outside and it was fine, kind of weird sitting outside on the curb vs. an established patio so that was a little uncomfortable esp. being away from the main patio and on an island (could have attributed to why our service got worse). Came here for the first time on a Tuesday for lunch. We saw that they had a patio which was dog friendly, and it swayed our decision to eat here. When we arrived, it was nearly 100 degrees, and they were so nice to let us eat inside and bring our dog. (very well behaved) Our waitress was beyond amazing and attentive. The food came out in a very timely manner/order as well. The ambiance was moody and the temp inside was a nice escape from the hot, hot day! The salad was plentiful! Enough for three/four people to share, and the garlic bread hit the spot. Great starter combo. I did take off half a star because of the pizza. It was good but can be so much better. One of our favorite places in Denver. It's a neighborhood eatery vibe. The food and service are consistently amazing. We love everything from the pizza rolls, clams linguine (filled with chunks of clams) and chicken parmesan to the seasonal specials. The drinks don't pay second fiddle to the food. The lavender bee's knees is unique & delicious. We always top our meals off with a tiramisu and freshly house brewed espresso. Met friends at Z'Abbracci last night and was so happy with everything! I honestly had not put Z'Abbracci at the top of my list due to its number of yelp stars but now I'm a fan! We had drinks outside (yes it was chilly but not terrible) to enjoy the beautiful downtown lights (so festive & pretty) then we went inside for dinner. Yummmmm! Here's what everyone had and all was delicious: calzone, beef short rib pasta, salmon salad, spicy shrimp campanelle. The vibe is neighborhood restaurant where "everybody knows your name." Seating is tight and the restaurant gets very loud when it fills up. I felt like I was borderline screaming across the small table just to be heard. Our server was helpful and on top of it. Food came out fast considering how busy they were. I had the El Diablo mule, which was well mixed and tasty. We started with artichoke hearts and they were good but a bit in the greasy side. For dinner we had the pesto primavera calzone and the Chicken Picante Pizza. The pesto calzone came with marinara sauce which seemed off because it was a pesto sauce based calzone, and it was a bit dry. The pizza was okay, the jalapeños were fresh but almost raw and needed to be cooked a little more. All in all we will likely be back and try other items! read more

Came here to enjoy the bar scene which was a scene none of us will likely ever forget! I do love the people who come here, let me at least say that; wonderful friendly people come here. What gives me pause and may prevent me from returning is how dirty the restaurant is. The bathrooms were quite gross, the women waiting in line were discussing it not to mention the smell walking up to them was quite atrocious. There was a patron at the bar who was so sick and coughing and what's worst is that they had green snot hanging from their nose about and inch or so. They grabbed the closest thing and blew their nose and sat multiple used napkins that they blew their snotty nose into on the bar. The bartender was made aware before she grabbed them with her bare hands to throw away and said, "na, they're not sick..." Well, she didn't see what every single one of us did making us all nauseated. She never washed her hands the entire time we were there and continued to prepare drinks. She wiped down the area with the same dirty rag she had used multiple times over a period of several hours. Patrons next to use were equally is disgusted and asked her sanitize it which she refused. Said patrons had wipes in their bag and wiped the area down showing the rest of of how incredibly dirty the wipe was. That should have been a clue to not order food but did anyway. Fettuccine alfredo is really hard to screw up: butter, garlic, cream and parmesan. It had NO flavor and while I never salt my food, I was looking for something to give it flavor. I'd be willing to try another dish but the lack of cleanliness was so evident and blatantly disregarded I'm not sure I'll ever return. It's influenza season.....use some common sense and common courtesy. read more

We ordered the Margherita pizza and were anxious to try it. I have to admit, I was rather disappointed to find this Italian pizza staple come out with cherry tomatoes and shredded basil that wasn't the freshest. I would have said something but we were SO hungry that it just wasn't worth the hassle. I have witnessed Italian friends send back pizzas made like this and I now understand why. Today was a perfect day for a comfort meal so I decided on takeout from Z'Abbraci's. I ordered the Short Rib Brunch Poutine. This dish features scrambled eggs, tots, braised short rib, mozzarella, brown gravy, hollandaise. I love how they put the brown gravy and hollandaise sauces in separate containers. I also ordered spinach and tomato with it. I was very impressed with this meal! The Short Rib was tender and succulent. Everything flowed together nicely. So glad I ordered the spinach and tomatoes with it. The spinach and tomatoes complement it very well. This meal definitely filled me up. I couldn't eat anything else afterwards. It will probably tide me over for the rest of the day. Service was a little slow when I walked in to pick it up. I waited for a while then walked over to the bar and ask for it. I feel the customer service could improve. I was just given my meal with a terse response. I will definitely order this meal again! Great job with the food! read more

Z'Abbracci'S seems to be riding the infinite struggle bus on door dash orders. They never ever include "paid for" soft drinks with DoorDash orders and shortchange customers repeatedly. Has happened on 3 separate occasions, ordering a drink, and it doesn't get included with the order. If drink orders are not showing up on door dash orders, you need to fix it...if the person preparing the DoorDash orders can't read or follow basic instructions, need to fix it. You owe me $12 bucks or 3, free soft drinks . Worse, many other customers report the same issue. Is Z'Abbracci's running a scam here to make extra money off of undelivered soft drinks? This is the 3rd time now. FIX IT! read more

We were having a family game night at our son's house in Castle Rock, and the crowd decided to order pizza through DoorHub or GrubDash or whatever 3rd party delivery service operates in CR. I'm not a big pizza fan, much preferring a good sub/hoagie/grinder, so I ordered the Italian Hoagie. Man, what a sandwich! Piled high with 5 different Italian-style deli meats, a thick layer of pepperoncini, and lettuce and tomato on a really good East Coast style loaf of bread and lightly sprinkled with Italian dressing, this was a feast for both the eyes and the tastebuds. Garlic truffle tots on the side were the perfect accompaniment. The pizza looked and smelled so good I broke down and had a slice of each of the two we ordered - the All Meat was fantastic. Don't remember what the other was, but it was very good as well. There was enough of my sandwich left over to take home and have for lunch the next day. I will definitely get an Italian Hoagie again the next time I patronize this establishment. read more

This spot is such a hit or miss unfortunately... I believe we've been here 3-4 times. Every appetizer we have tried has been so yummy but then on the opposite end every main dish we have tried has been terrible... minus the pizza! We've had good pizza here, not the best in Castle Rock but if you go here I'd say stick to the pizza. It's such a cute little spot with a great location and the staff is always so nice and caring so it's a place we would like to continue going to but we have decided this is only a drinks and appetizers spot for us. The specific mains I've tried that brought this opinion are the STOUT BRAISED SHORT RIB RISOTTO and the BLACKENED SHRIMP PARMESAN RISOTTO(copied name from menu which is why they are caps) the short rib and the shrimp were actually very yummy but the risotto itself was absolutely awful.. like a weird bland oatmeal.. I don't know if they use the same risotto for all the risotto dishes then just add the correct protein based on dish so maybe that's why it's so bland, so it goes with any protein option??? We've also had the SAGE BROWN BUTTER POTATO GNOCCHI, nothing special also bland and just so dense for gnocchi.. I always spilt my dishes and the person I shared it with also agreed with this opinion. Giving them an extra star because of the great staff and ambiance but if it wasn't for that I would give them 2 stars. The mains need to be good to be a strong restaurant, can't just rely on great appetizers. read more

Lunchtime just after they opened. First of all, it looks like a beautiful, fine-dining Italian restaurant. I walked in and immediately looked down at my casual attire and thought, "uh-oh!" But that wasn't the case at all. Laid-back place. My next thought was cost. Looks like it could potentially be spendy, but very reasonably-priced menu. Quiet during our time there, good for conversation. Apps were amazing! Had the bruschetta, which was crispy parmesan ciabatta croutons, herbed ricotta, chopped caprese, pesto, and a deliciously contrasting balsamic reduction! We shared some garlic Parmesan bites which were wonderful. 8 of us came in and our server took great care of us! Drinks filled, plates cleared...very impressed with the quality of service and attentiveness! I will definitely come back here to try out more of that amazing looking menu! Was there on the 26th with my friend for dinner. Our food was so delicious. I ordered an entree of the clams and white wine sauce to go and when I got home with it, it certainly didn't look anything like clams and white wine sauce. I'm not sure what it was. Not to be too snobbish, but we typically avoid restaurants with less than four stars on average. Yes, every so often a 3.5 star place surprises us. One case, our favorite Chinese restaurant in Castle Rock continues to surprise us with its 3.5 star average. So after many times passing here on our trips up and down Wilcox to visit other restaurants, we thought we'd give them a chance. Well, guessing we'll need to be pretty desperate to come again. We likely won't be that desperate. We go in on a Sunday night, and the place is around half full. The bar area by the front is loud. There is a table right by the front door (near the bar) on this chilly evening that hasn't been cleaned off yet. When we ask for a table, the hostess goes to get a rag to clean off this table. Seeing tables in the back that are further from the door and loud bar area, I ask if there are any openings back there. Turns out there are plenty, and the hostess takes us back even though she seems a little put out at first. I'm not sure if the goal is to keep people from seeing what's going on in the open kitchen, but it's both warmer and quieter near the back, so we're happy. The negative review shouldn't reflect on the quality of service. Our server was prompt and attentive, and I'm not sure food has ever come out quicker. We did have to ask for refills, but those came fast too, so no complaints. Here's where it goes downhill. First, prices are really high. Seems as high or higher than other decent Italian restaurants in the area. Unless you want a personal pizza, you're paying $25-35 for a pizza. I understand that you can split them, but that's still a lot for a pie. Pasta dishes seem higher than they should be for the amount and quality of food you get. My wife and I decided to split the 16" mushroom feta pizza, and my daughter got the fettuccine Alfredo. They don't really have a side salad option, so you're either getting a small salad for $7-8 or a large salad for almost $12. My wife and I decided to split the larger Caesar between the two of us. They put it in two bowls, and it was a decent amount, yet not overwhelming, for $12. I didn't realize until eating mine, but they put a thin strip of anchovies across the top like a garnish. Who wants that much anchovies in one bite? For a Caesar, it should be chopped up fine so the taste is spread out. My wife, who doesn't like fish, didn't realize what she had in her salad until I told her that she might not want to eat it. Well, that was enough for her to lose her appetite for the salad. Even after I removed the intruding fish from her bowl, she was pretty much done. The dressing was weird to begin with, and had a strange tangy flavor that didn't really go well. Had everything else been great, we'd just know to skip the salad on future visits. The rest of our food came out soon thereafter. My daughter loved her fettuccine Alfredo, mentioning the sauce had the right taste, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. She thought the serving size was small, and that she could've used more. I was impressed with the size of our pizza, and my wife was happy with it too, even though it had more mushrooms than she liked. I reminded her that it was a mushroom feta pizza. Flavor was good, and I liked the crust. Perhaps there are reasons to not sit by an open kitchen. My wife noticed workers in the kitchen eating with the same gloved hands they were using to serve food. That seems like a health code no no. It wasn't until later in the evening that two things hit us. First, our pizza was just mushroom and feta. Check the description, and then check my photo. Supposedly the pizza comes with arugula and a balsamic glaze drizzle. Our pizza had neither. We didn't ask to have those toppings left off, it left the kitchen that way, and the server didn't catch it either. With those other toppings, I'm guessing it would've been even better. The other issue started after we got home. My wife and I both started having really bad stomach cramps and terrible gas the rest of the night. I wouldn't call it full fledged food poisoning, but something we both ate hit us hard and didn't agree with us. Note, our daughter was fine, so we assume it was something in the salad or pizza. One more reason to strike this place off the list for the future. read more

Found this place on a whim as we were going to go to scileppi's but they were booked for an hour and a half so I went to Yelp to find another Italian restaurant and it showed this place with 5 star reviews. As soon as we walked in, there was a line so you know this place has GOT to be good. We ordered drinks from the bar as it was full and waited for seats. Once they opened up, we sat down, Sarah waited on us and she was great! She was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of the food choices offered on the menu. I ordered the mushroom gnocchi. They were super tasty, the mushrooms were fresh, not sysco crap and the sauce was definitely homemade. They're s a couple of other items that I want to come back and try for sure! I will be back you got my word. I ALWAYS look for true authentic Italian food and this place is definitely in my top 5. read more
