My basement was in a dreadful state and needed a complete overhaul. Sean, the manager, came to my house and spoke to me about everything. He did not hesitate to make suggestions and encouraged me about the work. It was definitely a tremendous project to take on. We collaborated about my ideas and Sean added his advice. I needed to look at materials for the work, so Sean offered to take me to places such as MSI, DecoVita, and Mosaic Home Interiors. It was just what I needed to do - understand my options. The work progressed. Sean and the crew remodeled the current bathroom by adding a shower stall; created a laundry room from unused space; tore down a wall to a library and opened up the space to allow more light in the now Home Office; made the fireplace look more modern with new marble; replaced all the door handles with brushed nickel; installed a wooden staircase which matched the LVP flooring; and painted all the basement walls and wood trim, etc. It is a remarkable transformation which continues to garner many compliments. Many thanks to Sean for taking on this arduous project and being so steadfast in his efforts. He was wonderful throughout the entire process.

It all started when Sean came to our house and we discussed with him what we wanted to do with our kitchen. We signed up for painting our cabinets, island and desk in our kitchen, new countertops and new backsplash. The first Red flag started on the very first day they were supposed to start the project, we were told they would come at 9 AM, 10AM comes around and no one is here. My husband text Sean and was given a new time of 12 with no apology. Noon came and went, and no one showed up, and we were told another later time, and that time came and went. We were finally told they would not be coming that day due to traffic. We tried to let that go but this same occurrence happened at least four more times throughout the project. There were 4 separate times my husband would sit at home and miss work waiting for someone to show up and they wouldn't. One time my husband had enough, and they ended up showing up to the house at 5 PM and were still working past 9PM when we both have to get up early for work. The second red flag was one they brought our doors back from painting them at their warehouse. The paint job was TERRIBLE. There was paint streaks running down 5 of the doors (pictures posted). We had to have them sent back to be repainted, which took an entire month to do. The third incident was we wanted to replace the hardware on our kitchen cabinets and island but not our desk. We asked for them to patch up the hardware on both the kitchen cabinets and island but not the desk. Well Sean did not listen again and patched up all holes including our desk. The fourth incident was they painted our kitchen desk the entire wrong color. I repeated to Sean several times what I wanted, and nothing was ever written down. When we called Sean to discuss with him that they painted the wrong color he immediately blamed it on us saying we never asked for the color we asked for. Then continued to tell us he had no notes of us asking for a gray desk. I repeatedly told him several times what I wanted when he was at our house and felt as if he wasn't listening. I was more in shock that he proceeded to tell me it was all my fault. I wish I could say that this was the end of the nightmare. Due to the fact they no showed on four different occasions and gave us the runaround our kitchen project lasted over an entire month. Meaning we were unable to use our kitchen for that entire month. During this month they had placed protective paper on our floors. The final day when they were done they took up the protective paper and brought my husband over to tell him there was a tiny imperfection on our brand new wood floors. The stain was completely gone off this spot on the floor and Sean proceeded to tell us it's our flooring people's fault and not theirs. We had these floors done a year ago and never had any issues. It gets even worse as after Sean left we found 6 giant spots (not just the one spot he showed us) on our floors where the stain was removed (pictures posted). Sean told us we would have to call our flooring people and pay to have it redone. He refused to admit that it was their fault when our floors were not like this before the project. We finally called and complained enough that they agreed to fix our floors. The final straw is the flooring people came to fix the floors and the stain does not even match our floors at all. We had several contractors come out to look at the damage and told us whatever took the stain off our floors was some chemical and it almost looks like bleach stains. Now we are sitting here with our beautiful floors with patches of non-matched stain. I hope this review helps someone reconsider using this company. I have never had an experience as terrible as this.

She allowed me to ask exactly one question per interaction. They had some product brochures, but the one by the quartz samples was from 2020 so even the written material wasn't of help. The admin person was nice enough, but really knew nothing about the products on the floor and had to confer with said disinterested designer. I was referred to this place by the son of a friend who had assistance from Daniel when he did a complete kitchen remodel. Unfortunately Daniel ran away from me as I entered the showroom (I knew who he was based on his photo on their website.) I wanted a place that wasn't as precious as some of the Bethesda showrooms are, but this place isn't it. Just go online instead of bothering to drive out to Rockville. You'll get much more information that way, that's for sure. Makes you wonder how they stay in business.

We had used KBD before on a simpler renovation (new master bath shower) and we were delighted with their work, so didn't hesitate to engage them for this far more elaborate project. Why are these guys such great remodelers? Let me list just a few of the reasons. * Completeness: Except for appliances, KBD displays and sources everything that is required. You aren't sent around to countless vendors to look at their wares and then be the middleman in negotiating appropriateness, availability, prices, etc. * Design assistance: You are offered as much or as little as you need. But be forewarned, Rich and Olga are likely to be much more familiar with design issues than you - so that when they make their suggestions, you will hit yourself on the side of the head and wonder why you didn't think of these issues or ideas yourself. * Craftsmanship: With remodeling, everything doesn't always exactly fit together. Walls are not perfectly plumb, corners not perfectly square, ceiling heights may be wavy and floors are not perfectly flat. Thus, craftsmanship is required to neatly mount cabinets and appliances to that they look seamless. KBD installers (who are direct employees, not subcontractors) all made the extra effort to ensure that everything (even stuff that we would never would have noticed) was done right and looked perfect.
