The last time I came in, there were staff members' children screaming at the top of their lungs while customers were trying to enjoy their coffee and food. It wasn't the atmosphere I expected. My biggest frustration, though, is the inconsistency of the coffee. I'll order a Cookie Butter Latte one day and it's amazing, then order the exact same drink another day and it's incredibly bitter. When you're paying around $10 for a small drink, you expect it to be consistent. I really hate saying this because I used to recommend this place to everyone, but lately I'd rather make coffee at home, where I know it'll taste the same every time.

I wasn't the only one with the idea to head to McLain's this morning either. The drive-thru had quite the line-up and there were plenty of folks inside too! This place has great energy. It's colorful and fun with plenty to look at including an amazing bakery case, plenty of packaged food items to go (both sweet and savory), a small retail area, a cool balloon decoration on the wall, and of course the friendly staff and buzzing customers all around. Everything on the menu looks amazing, so it was a challenge to figure out what to order. I ended up going with the market latte with oat milk, the steel cut oats, and a "Plain + Simple," which is "McLain's classic scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheddar, on english muffin toast." My daughter ended up having the P+S and seemed to enjoy it! I also enjoyed my latte and oats. I now know why McLain's is recommended by so many people in the area and how they have 5 locations around town. I would absolutely return!

The newest location in the West Plaza neighborhood is such a great addition to the neighborhood and is a great place to relax and eat or work while enjoying goodies and drinks! I took my parents to the Bodega (and they're already HUGE fans of Blackhole), and we were not disappointed. So many pastries, which we love! But also, they have a selection of shelf-stable and refrigerated goods that you can peruse as you walk up to the counter. AND as you get up to the counter, you also notice the selection of coffee beverages and other beverages (I had a blueberry lemonade! Yum!), and some great looking breakfast sandwiches! My parents and I couldn't get past the pastries, so I'm looking forward to grabbing one of those breakfast crunch wraps next time I'm over there! As always, the staff were so helpful in letting us know the special elements of the menus and the recommendations! After we ordered, we plopped down at one of the tables and enjoyed our delicious choices. The interior is inviting and includes one of those giant garage doors that they open on nice days!
