Now to the food......I ordered the crab fried rice for $24 and I received just rice with crab I could barely find. Waste of money. I also ordered the crispy garlic fried chicken. It was okay. Lightly fried chicken with soy sauce on the plate to dip I guess. I also tried the general Tao's shrimp. It was good but very spicy. I also ordered food to go for my husband. Again with the crab fried rice no crab. FYI when I ordered I told the waitress to make sure they add the crab so I don't just pay for rice. For a pint it was $17 just for rice. I packed up the chicken for him because I didn't love it and he wanted to try it. My daughter ordered the crab fried rice which had a very very very small piece of shredded crab. She liked the ribs and her general Tao's shrimp because she likes spicy. They charge for sauce but she did not tell me until I saw it on the bill. 20% gratuity and a fee for credit card use. And on the bill they have the nerve to put suggested additional tip. I don't think so. Overall this was a restaurant that I tried but would definitely not return.

Starting with the Soft Scramble Egg Tostada, scrumptious is the right word! The eggs were perfectly soft and creamy and paired with that chili sauce it had just the right amount of heat to wake everything up. The Shrimp Ceviche was clean, bright and fresh, served with thick crispy tostadas to scoop it all up. The Chamoy Watermelon though? order it, full stop! Juicy watermelon cubes coated in chamoy, chili flakes and mint. Sweet, spicy, tangy and refreshing all at once. It's one of those dishes that sounds simple but completely delivers. The Chicken Milanesa was a solid protein forward dish. Beautifully golden and crispy with a light coleslaw on top that kept it from feeling too heavy. And the Chilaquiles were loaded and satisfying, topped with crema, cotija and scallions. The Vampiro cocktail has spicy tequila, house sangrita, hibiscus and grapefruit. It had everything I look for in a drink. Bold, a little spicy and so well balanced. Couldn't have chosen better!

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, helping explain the menu & giving us great suggestions. Started off with pineapple margaritas that were REALLY good & not too strong. The fried oaxacan cheese, three cheese empanada & shrimp ceviche was extremely delicious. Shrimp ceviche tastes fresh and the small jalapeños offered just the right kick of spice. The chicken milanesa & dry-aged pork chop were absolutely delicious. Pork chop was a buttery savory delight & the chicken was cooked to perfection, was moist not over cooked & had a wonderful crunch. The green rice was surprisingly good (I'm not the biggest fan of rice). The space was a lot smaller than I had anticipated but very well thought out, didn't feel like we were sitting on top of an each. Cuisine: 8 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 7 Overall: 8 Another Thai owned Japanese restaurant specializing in izakaya style cuisine in Bushwick. It's been open for a few years, so clearly it has a good enough formula to keep the neighborhood happy. I have been here once before, but returned last week after dining several meals at Tomoni in Jackson Heights. Apparently, the owners are friends. Nonetheless, I needed to make the comparison. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute. If I have a craving for some decent Japanese food, I would drive 20 minutes here for a meal anytime.

Unfortunately, I have to admit I was pretty disappointed. Most of the dishes, especially the sauces, they were extremely salty! - Beef Tartare "Dine-In Exclusive" -- I'd skip this one. The beef was very dry, and it came with taro chips and greens but no sauce to tie everything together. Definitely not what I expected from a tartare. - Enoki Bloom -- Crispy, perfectly fried enoki mushrooms that I actually enjoyed. The only downside was that it was also very salty. The creamy green sauce on the side helped balance it out. - Crying Tiger -- Another skip for me. The steak was dry, tough and chewy, and the meat itself was pretty bland. The sauce had plenty of flavor, but again, it was way too salty. - Pork Jowl -- Probably my favorite dish of the meal. It was perfectly grilled, tender and flavorful. I'd skip the sauce though since the pork was already delicious on its own. - Crab Curry -- Unfortunately, another very salty dish. I honestly don't know how it got this salty. I was expecting more of the spicy or slightly sweet flavors you normally get from a Thai curry, but the salt completely took over. Very disappointing!!! - Thai Iced Tea -- This was actually really good. Creamy, rich and not overly sweet. The menu changes seasonally, so unfortunately, some of the dishes I had seen online were no longer available when I went. I was really looking forward to trying Tong, especially since it's so close by, but overall the meal just didn't do it for me. I probably wouldn't come back or recommend it based on this experience.
