I bought an Amazon Local thing for Your Painters and was super nervous about it but was encouraged by the positive reviews here. It was a little tough at first to get in touch with the owner to schedule the appointment but once I realized that they had an online appointment form, that made things much easier. I don't often write Yelp reviews, but when I do, it's about a special experience. A good friend of mine in central Wisconsin, whose is currently in remission from AML Leukemia, had recently moved into a new home and was looking for a painter. He came upon a recommendation from another friend, for a company called "Your Painters", which he quickly learned was not local, but rather served the Chicago area. In reading all of the great reviews to date, he took a gamble and called to see if there was a possibility of getting a crew up to do the work. I believe the gentleman he dealt with was "Dave", who, when learning of my friends condition, said "to heck" with their policy of only doing business locally, and would make an exception as he had also been touched by a good friend with the same condition. With that, he immediately scheduled a crew to make the road trip. One would think that was enough...but it wasn't as Dave also insisted that there we be no travel or other expenses!!! My friend was overcome with gratitude.....and when the work was done....was even more so with the quality as well with the professionalism of the crew. Bought the Groupon and loved it! I was looking for someone to help me with a paint job in my living room. I was painting a dark gray color so I knew I needed someone good. The Groupon showed up one day and I figured for $150 why not try it so I did. Very professional. I called, they came out and looked at everything to tell me how much paint I needed. Then scheduled a day for the worker to come only three days later which was my first choice of day / time. Worker came right on time, very nice, and overall a great job! This is the first time I ever write a review online. I wanted people to know how this company really is. A couple of month ago, I wanted to paint our whole house insdie and outside. One of my friends recommended me this place based on Yelp reviews. So I contacted the owner, Dave, and set up an appointment for an estimate. No body showed up at the appointment time. I called multiple times and only got voice mail. Finally three hours later, Dave called back and said he messed up and did not put our appointment on his calendar. He said he was driving and would check his calendar when he got home and call us back. First of all, I don't buy his excuse because I emailed a reminder a couple days before and he replied and said would be there. The truth is more likely that he overbooked and could not make it. That is fine with me if you need to make changes. But he should have called me and let me know so I wouldn't have spent hours waiting at home. Second, he never got back to me and reschedule. My experience is not alone. My friend who remended me this company had similar experience. Dave missed her appointment and had no explanation and did nothing to make up. If you want a honest person who keeps his promise, does business the way it should be, skip "Your Painters, Inc.". read more

I want to share the experience I had with this painting contractor. My overall recommendation to someone that does not have time to read my experience below would be to never hire this contractor for any residential interior painting project. The scope of work was painting the walls of an 1100 sq. ft. furnished condo a single color. (Kitchen, Living Room, Master Bedroom, Guest Bedroom, two baths, closets not included) The guest bathroom ceiling was also to be painted. One kitchen corner had water damage and needed wall repair. One master bedroom had minor water damage and needed wall repair. The utility closet required the wall behind the HVAC unit to be painted since it was flaking due to moisture. I was planning on changing the carpet to laminate in both bedrooms after the painting was completed. For this reason, I removed the baseboards prior to the painting taking place. I also anticipated allowing the contractor to no have to use drop cloths in the bedrooms and making the rooms easier to paint. I had purchased this condo a year and a half ago. I did not place many items on the walls in anticipation of having to paint the walls. I requested an estimate for the work from this contractor and had someone come to my condo to prepare an estimate. I went over the above scope. Notes were taken during the visit and I was recommended what type of paint (low sheen) and the amount of paint (7 gallons) to purchase. I was told the job would take two days. The first day, one person would come to do wall repair. The second day, a crew of painters would come to paint two coats of the specified paint. I was told I would receive an estimate with verbage to describe typical job requirements (spackle, sanding, using drop cloths, responsible for moving furniture, removing/reinstalling wall plates, cleaning up, etc.) and the outlined scope above. I was also told that I would be sent an invoice a week after the job was completed for the agreed price. If I did not like any minor items, I can have them reworked. I never received a physical estimate outlining the above conditions. I only received an email with the notes for each room and a price. Essentially, the scope outlined above and the price. The price was reasonable to low based on my research and I decided to let the contractor know I am interested to continue. I was given dates for the two days the job would take place. I agreed and purchased the recommended paint. I also decided to be present during the painting. Prior to the painting days, I decided to remove all wall mounted items and move furniture to the middle of each room to allow more time for the wall repair/painting. The first day, one person came for a full day to repair the water damage in the two corners and prepare the utility room to be painted. There was no drywall replacement required in both corners. The damage was repaired with spackling alone. The wall repair work took the majority of the day as the person bounced between rooms doing spackling. Every room had plenty of wall imperfections such as damaged corners, scrapes, old paint blotches, embedded screw anchors, nail holes, etc. By the end of the day, the two corners were completely formed with spackle and various wall imperfections were addressed in all the rooms. I asked the person if the place was ready to be painted as I had noticed a lot of wall imperfections that were not addressed. I was told it was and the crew was coming tomorrow. I asked when the imperfections I still see would be fixed. I was told to put up tape on imperfections I saw. As soon as this person left, I began to do this. I was up to 10+ pieces of tape per room and decided to not put tape on imperfections in proximity of other imperfections. I began to be a little skeptical of what to expected the next day. The next day, six people showed up in the morning. One of the people was the person that performed the wall repairs the previous day. I told him to address the wall imperfections I had marked. The rest of the crew began to tape the basebaords in the condo, cover furniture with plastic, and started sanding. Witihin thirty minutes, one of the workers had to leave to go to another job. From the phone coversation, he told the other workers he was going to take care of an emergency. I could tell he was going to another job to address complaints. Approximately half of the wall imperfections I had marked were addressed and the crew removed some of the tape when it was time to start painting. Most importantly, a couple of corners that had been damaged were not fully repaired. A lot of imperfections were left untouched since they were not all marked. The few people sanding pointed out a minor amount of locations where spackling was needed. I also instructed the people sanding that sanding was required in places where there were imperfections but no spackle was done. TLDR; awful contractor. Don't have more words to finish. read more

Purchased a Groupon and had a heck of a time scheduling the appointment even though I started trying many many months before the expiration date. Like a previous reviewer, there were all sorts of excuses. Finally the painter came out. He was very polite and professional. However when he left, I discovered he did not do the work that was promised. He also dripped paint onto baseboards that had been newly primed and missed spots in corners and near trim. I do better work myself. Also, he was supposed to paint the trim and the ceiling (that's what the Groupon said I'd get) and did not do that at all. I contacted Groupon and requested that they send him back out to finish the job. Instead they gave me a full refund. Makes me think there are many complaints about this business and Groupon knew I'd be better off with my money that with a return visit. read more

Please read before you decide to hire!!! I have been contemplating leaving a review for this company because of my mixed feelings of their work. Their contract states they are responsible for any and all drops of paint that may fall accidentally, although "there shouldn't be any," according to the contract. They did a good job of painting my new home, but the lines were not straight in many places. The company did, however, come back to fix the lines we asked them to fix. I am extremely disappointed at how they put my house back together. Many of the closet doors were put together the wrong way (causing paint to be chipped from the adjacent wall), and they even broke one of the bordering head blind on my very expensive blinds. There was a lot of mess that was left in my garage for me to clean up. As i moved into my new home and cleaned a little deeper into the floors and framing, i noticed A LOT more paint that had fallen on them. I ended up having to clean after this company more than I should have, and that is NOT something a customer should have to do after paying a company more than THREE GRAND to paint. All in all, Your Painter's did not do what their contract had said they would in terms of cleaning. BUT they were prompt at responding to emails regarding the work that needed to be done. read more

I was in the hospital the day they were to arrive, my wife cleaned the two rooms to be painted, and they did not show up. This company was not responsive after the initial meeting. The crew splashed paint on our carpet, tile floor, and counters. We also found nails laying on the carpet days after the job was finished. When we called Dave to discuss our concerns, he never apologized, and acted as if these things were not a big deal. They eventually agreed to decrease the cost of the work. We felt as if this was their standard way of doing business, do a shoddy job, then if the customer complains drop the cost. The painters also moved our king sized bed in our master bedroom. Rather than lifting it up, they just pushed it. Afterwards our wooden frame was bent and the wood bar that goes under the middle of the bed eventually snapped. read more

My experience start to finish has been A+! The principal Dave is a friendly professional that responded to me very quickly with every contact. When I needed an onsite quote - he was in the area and showed up 2 hours later! He had great ideas, was super helpful and offered the best price for all the rooms I needed painted. He had my first choice available for the job (on a Saturday) and three fantastic english-speaking gentlemen (TJ, Andy & Joe) showed up on-time to do a spectacular job. He told me up front how much extra it was going to be for doing the trim and window wells (since the Groupon didn't cover them).
