This is without a doubt the worst moving company I've ever hired. I'm going to just state facts in point form. To summarize, in case you don't want to read this: There were thousands of dollars of damage done, they were slow and sloppy, they didn't work hard, and only responded to my damages claim after 3 emails a couple weeks apart and the threat of a lawsuit. On the way in: -They were extremely slow. They worked like they were getting paid by the hour. They did not show care, or seem to have any strategy for wrapping items nor putting them in the truck. Most of the time one person would be working and the other person would be watching them. -After I specifically instructed mover Eric to please put moving blankets between each painting and picture, he agreed. I came back 10 minutes later to see he had stacked all 15 pictures and paintings against each other, with nothing in between them, not even going back to back, front to front. The weight and friction of this (especially wires against the front of each piece of art caused many scratches on both the frames and actual art, seriously damaging them. He could offer no explanation as to why he didn't do as he said he would, and commented that they were in fact damaged, and that he knows that often the frames are more expensive than the pieces. Although parts of this are covered in their waiver, the damage occured not during the move, but before, because the mover didn't actually wrap them. Estimated damages to frames and art by art repairer: $3000 -Eric later decided that even though I asked him to please wrap our fabric headboard before moving it, that it was ok not to, and that it was a good idea to please it fabric side down on the floor of the garbage room/moving area. Then later, on the floor of the dusty, dirty moving truck -After I asked mover Alex to please get back to work, he had a freak out, screamed at me, stopped working and walked off. The boss (Denis) came by and couldn't find him. He was pouting in the truck, as his boss was doing his job for him. He was in there, getting paid, not working, for over an hour. Eventually Denis convinced him to come out and work, but he mostly just stood around. -They stored our stuff for the week while our new place was undergoing renos. Because of the trouble, they waived the storage fee which was very nice. They also didn't charge us for wardrobe boxes, which again was very nice. A week later on the move in: -They used 3 movers to speed up the process. They lifted an armoire (fairly heavy) and placed it down too hard on one leg, and it snapped. -1 mover (Mike) arrived from the storage facility to our house, and got to work. Even though he left at the same time as the other two, they decided to go for coffee (while we were paying them $135/hour) and arrived 25 minutes after him. -They dropped the aforementioned armoire down the stairs while moving it 5 times. This was due to constant miscommunications about how to lift it. I've moved this armoire with my dad 3 times and never had a problem. We are not professional movers. Yes, 5 times. Of course it was dented all over with gouges and scratches. Estimated damage by carpenter: $1500 -The stairs were also destroyed from the armoire crashing into the 5 times. Not just scratched, but dented and gouged all over. They will have to be completely replaced. Estimated replacement cost by carpenter: $2000 I stupidly paid the bill after this and should have refused. It took 3 emails to get a response about the damages claim, and they got back to me only after I told them I would be taking them to small claims court. I sent pictures of all the damages, of course. They came and took a look, and then I didn't hear from them for a couple weeks despite numerous emails. Eventually, they told me they would offer me $300 as compensation. Wanting to be done with them, I took it rather than pursue them in small claims court. They did fix the glass for one of the pictures that was broken, so there's that. $300 to offset about $6500 worth of damages. I sure learned my lesson about going with a cheap moving company! read more

3 hours late for the moving (very stressful as the condo building initially had a hard deadline for moving). They were meant to come for 2:00PM and didn't show up till 5:25PM. The actual moving guys were nice, but overall, would not recommend as it was very unprofessional being that late and also they ended up damaging my dresser so now it has deep scratch marks on it. In terms of the damaged dresser, I contacted them with pictures the same night of the move (when I noticed) and they did nothing to follow up or rectify the situation. Would not recommend (2 Men and a Truck were the last company I used and they seem to be the cheapest and most reliable, but they were booked the day of my move unfortunately). read more

WARNING! I strongly suggest you don't hire this company. Everything was going well - great service, nice movers. But they destroyed one of my dressers. It broke and was not fixable. The movers were apologetic and on the phone, the boss was as well at first. But he still wanted me to pay IN FULL and said that sometime, when things were not busy, he'd bring me a new dresser. No fixed time or promise. So I said I would pay when the job was complete. And then HE HUNG UP ON ME and instructed his movers to leave the broken furniture on the curb in front of my house. They knew that was unfair and so didn't do it at first and then HE FORCED them to. The worst. I'm giving one star because his movers - despite breaking my stuff - were decent people. Had a good experience with the crew here. They helped us disassemble/reassemble three beds and moved all the contents from one 3-bed apartment to another all within 4 hours. Did some last minute hustling too when the elevators at the place we were moving into were about to expire on us. All the guys were good natured and friendly, none of our items were damaged during the process. Denis called a few days before the move to take inventory of all our items and make sure he had everything he needed to pack them safely. I can't understand why you would think of hiring someone else. Simon and Alister were great! Simon coordinated with us from day 1 and arrived at our door a few weeks later. Arrived on time, were amazingly efficient. We went to two locations from our two bedroom apartment and we were out and in in under 4 hours. Having fully disassembled and assembled several large pieces of furniture. Ikea and otherwise. Alister even offered to disassemble and assemble some of the other pieces of furniture that needed some sprucing. Great value for money and the best team to ease the stress of moving! Great service overall, I had a small move from a room in a house to a studio apartment. For the size of my move, their quote was easily the cheapest from the 10 moving companies I looked at. Simon was friendly, professional, and quick to get back to me with booking the move. On moving day the two movers -Steven and Tyler- showed up 10 minutes early, and were quick to get to work. They didn't stop or slow down once until everything was loaded into, then out of, the truck. The whole move ended up taking a fraction of the time I'd expected. They were also extremely friendly; when we got to the new building the superintendent there even commented that these were some of the nicest movers he'd ever encountered. All my belongings were moved without damage, save for a small scratch on the tv which is clearly waived in the contract so I knew what risk was coming with moving it. Will be using this company for any moves I may have in the future. read more

The best moving experience I've ever had. From start to end. Booking was very easy and friendly. They called me the day before, to remind me of the move and go through my contents again. My move was quite small and I went to other companies to get quotes and they wanted to charge me for 5 hour minimum, which doesn't make sense.YFCV has an hour minimum, which was great for me. Let me sum this company up in one word: unprofessional. I found this company last minute to move on the 31st of August. The move-in was decent until one of the workers dropped my desk on it's leg which resulted in it breaking. I was aware of their damage waiver which states the various items that they are not liable for in case of damage; however, my desk was not part of this list which led me to call and inform them of this. The receptionist was kind when I explained the situation and told me that their boss would get in contact with me. When he did call me, we talked on the phone and he told me to send pictures of the damage as well as mentioned that he would like to come by to see the desk in person as well as fix it himself. I agreed and sent photos to him. He responds by texting me "Got it! This is fixable". I let him know that I'm most likely unable to have him come by the same day since I had a meeting to attend, however, I mentioned that if the meeting ended early that I would let him know to see if he would still be willing to come by and fix it. After my meeting ends, I let him know and ask him if he'd still be able to come by to fix it or if he'd like to come by the next day - which ever is more convenient for him. However, he responds to this by saying "I'm working and exhausted". Like are you kidding me? This is YOUR company's fault. You stated that you would fix it rather than reimbursing me with money which is actually what is stated in YOUR company's contract in the case that an item is damaged or lost. So then I asked him to confirm when he's coming by asking him: "Does tomorrow work or Tuesday since tomorrow is Labour day". This man has the audacity to respond to me by saying "Please". Once again, this is on your company yet you show no efforts to take responsibility for it. I ask him what time he can come by and he never responded to me. It's absolutely disgusting to see that people will run a business and be this unprofessional about it even when they are in the wrong. Long story short? Don't waste your time or money with this company. read more

The movers left behind some furniture. They made us pay (in cash!!!) and told us they will come back to pick up these items later. WRONG!!! I called and called and called. Nothing! The furniture are still in our condo. We had to call another company to come pick them up. So, if you want to BE RIPPED OFF AND NOT HAVING YOUR FURNITURE DELIVERED, please use them. At first I didn't know how big a cube van is, thinking of those service vans you see from Rogers or Bell. However it is actually more of a truck. It fit my 7.5 foot couch, queen bed, dining table and much much more with about 70% space left over. The guys are very nice and work quickly. They will wrap and protect all your stuff and are careful not to damage anything. My couch was very hard to navigate through my condo hallway, but they were able to do it with ease. On my next move I will definitely use these guys again. read more

YFCV provided a quote for our office move that was virtually bang-on. It actually ended up costing a little less than expected. Although arriving late due to traffic, they called well in advance to apprise me of the situation. They worked through the evening to move our office, as near as I could tell taking no breaks until the job was done. The four movers were cooperative and accommodating, despite several obstacles. THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING!!! I've moved three times in the last 8 years and I've used them every time. Yesterday we moved out of a small condo into a townhouse. The move out of the condo building was quick and painless, but we didn't have the keys to our new place yet since we were moving on our closing date, so the guys had to wait around while the lawyers finished up and they were super nice about it. We moved into a stacked townhouse and we are on the upper floors so they had to carry all out stuff up a steep flight of stairs, which is no easy task given that we had 7 containers full of books plus all our furniture and clothing! They didn't complain once, they even made jokes and smiled through the whole thing. The best part came when they couldn't get our couch up the stairs and around the corner - it was just a bit too big. We figured we'd just have to buy a new couch, but instead, the guys pulled out all of their rope & gadgets and hoisted the couch up over the balcony and into the unit - and not a mark or scratch on it! It was incredible! Great service, and great guys, this is the first moving company I always call, and after yesterday, I will recommend them to everyone. Best money I ever spent. read more

BEWARE - they may break something expensive and not cover the damage. My $800 flat-screen TV suffered compression damage during the move, most likely because it was not handled properly. Their contract specifically excludes a long list of items from liability. What this means is that if THEY break it, YOU are on the hook for it. Let's start from the beginning: from all quotes that I got from other companies, YFCV was reasonable and explaining properly in the quote the charges. I like how fast he sent me the quote with NO hidden fees and offering some discounts(running at that time for the Month of February). YOUR 'FRIENDS' WITH A CUBE VAN - PROFESSIONAL MOVERS....? Moving is a very stressful thing to start with and I (thought) I was lucky that a family member offered to pay for professional movers to take some stress off my plate. Here is the professional service I received. - 30 min late - 9am booking downtown Toronto, excuse traffic. Who doesn't bank for traffic in Toronto on a weekday at rush hour? - Ordered wardrobe boxes. Came with none - had to have them brought over. - Damaged my desk but repaired it - Asked repeatedly use blankets so they wouldn't scratch the wall. Ignored and scratched a door and a wall. - Van too small - had to bring in another & tried to charge us for it. - Took chunk out of wall at new residence - Brought another worker on later, who we never asked for, and tried to charge us for it. - Label boxes so they knew where to put them, ignored. - Lamp shade crushed but managed to pop it out, a drawer frame to a bed ripped of the track, I managed to repair. They lost a box with gold rimmed glassware I got from my wedding - asked to be reimbursed & told by the owner," that's absolutely not going to happen"! I had a complete dining service from my wedding no longer complete. I can only warn others to steer clear of such unprofessional people. I had a great experience working with Friends with a Cube Van to help me move a few large pieces of furniture to two locations in November. The initial booking process was easy, I called first for a quote and did the rest via email. I found their quote to be the most clear and concise compared to other services I inquired. I was really happy with how on time the movers were to the pick-up location (in Mississauga) at 9am. 3 people came (even though I was informed there would only be 2) and they were really friendly and efficient in packing up all the items. This was important to me as I was waiting for the pickup alone. They dropped off at two different locations in Toronto, at first they were a little late to the first location (I left the same time as them and made it to the first location almost an hour prior to them arriving). They apologized for the delay and made it to the other location on time so it wasn't a big deal. It's always a little tough when you are billed by the hour but I found the hours tracked by them to be really fair at the end. Even though the drop off location was complicated and there were other vehicles blocking the entrance, Roberto and his team made it work without a fuss which I was really thankful for. Overall, I had no issues with the delivery time, the delivery process (all my items came in undamaged) and the services provided. I would highly recommend this delivery service with their friendly group of staffs! read more

I had quite a bit of damage to my furniture. A few pieces were repaired, but I was told that the damage to my dresser was too small to take to their carpenter. This was very upsetting because it was in perfect condition and now has a nice chip in the corner of the bottom drawer which is completely visible The damage wasn't small to me. YFWCV is as good as it gets for movers. They were right on time, friendly, professional, took good care of my stuff, and didn't bat an eyelash at my "eccentric" but beloved items, such as a very very very heavy vintage couch (about 300 lbs). They also moved my LCD tv without a box, and without leaving a scratch on it. The cost was well on-target, no hidden fees or sneaky charges! I recently moved from a small condo to a big rural house and have hired YFCV four times over the course of the move. Yes, four times! The first time was very last minute. I had bought furniture from an auction and needed to find someone that morning who could pick it up and move it to storage. The owner of YFCV was able to provide me with a truck and excellent employees on almost no notice. They were so exceptional that I booked them for my move from downtown Toronto to Caledon. It was a complicated move in that it required them to pick up items from my condo and two storage units then move it all out of the city to a farmhouse on a dirt road. They worked efficiently but very carefully. I've since used them twice for smaller projects. Each of their employees I've met has had a great attitude and is extremely careful both with my things and with my living spaces. I have never had better movers, including some of the large prestigious brands and can't recommend them highly enough. They are honest, quote accurately for the job, careful, and knowledgeable. The fact that each one of their employees I have met is polite, punctual and friendly is the icing on the cake. Hire them for your move!!!! read more
