As a current roller derby skater in LA, I needed to make myself skate to keep my endurance up. I entered the building and was immediately whisked back to my 9 year old self. Nothing had changed. (except, unfortunately, they painted over the clouds and rainbows that used to be on the walls!) The skate rentals were still there, (and possibly the same skates that i used) the concessions were still the same, and on a Friday night, the place was hopping with 8-13 year olds. The kids seemed to be having a blast. They were without their parents supervision and loving it. The music was still the same top 40's Q102 mix, and they offered backward skate, backlight skate, the Ghostbusters skate... I couldn't believe that the owner remembered me from when I took skating lessons two decades ago. Everyone was super friendly, and I felt fortunate to meet and talk with some of the employees there who remember and used to watch original roller derby! *Just a VERY IMPORTANT heads up for my derby sisters - if you're coming here to free skate, WEAR YOUR KNEEPADS. I wish the city could invest a little more money in this place because the ice quality is not very good (bumpy, large holes, and water dripping from the ceiling), but the free parking and clean bathrooms are always a plus. And the coaches and skaters I've met there have all been friendly and kind.

He's very friendly and willing to go the extra mile to ensure your experience is great. We rented skates, which was easy and only $5. For an additional $6 you could rent a skate assist (like a walker for little kids) to help your kids learn to skate. My kids fell an endless amount of times, they had alot of fun. They really loved the jungle gym. We'll be back!

There is a snack bar which I didn't visit. It has a small sport shop which I picked up a pair of unpackaged hanes socks for $3. No choice since kid's socks were too short. They had plenty of rentals in each size but probably could have used a second person behind the counter as the line was long especially at drop off. There were a lot of people but not enough where you felt crowded so it was great. Kid had a skate helper ($3 for the plastic helper). It was perfect so I didn't have to go out on the ice. I spent $23 for entrance for 2 plus rentals plus the helper. It was nice and I would definitely be back.

Food gets a. -F grade and they need to clean up or stop offering concessions. I'm not sure how it's possible the health department hasn't shut them down. The skate floor is smooth, music is decent but wayyyy to Lould to be safe, and rental skates are covered in grime. However you can find me here enjoying a skate regardless & not touching any surfaces or eating any food. The skate is all I need here so I bring my AirPods to bring the noise level down, my own skates, and snacks then I'm good. I sure to pay .50 in change for lockers but then I discovered o could go in and out to my car and leave things in there. I recommend you leave your non skates and such in car
