When I confronted him, he said that this was his emergency rates. It was not an emergency. We had a slow drip under out sink. We did not say it was an emergency. He came during the day yesterday (Tuesday). It felt like highway robbery. When I called him on it, he did not want to talk to me about it and said that he was busy. I could not believe that I paid $995 for a facet. Save yourself and do not call him.

Since I do my own maintenance, I knew what is was and what was needed to open it up. Since I was out of town my renter offered to locate a plumber, and I said OK just make sure he has a Water Jetter. The renter called back with Colin's Plumbing number and he said he has a Water Jetter. I then called Colin and asked the same question, and his answer was "yes I have a Water Jetter". Lined up the appointment and Colin showed up the next day. Now there is a video camera in this basement to monitor for flooding as a safety precaution so Colin was recorded the entire time he was there. For an hour and a half, he tried 3 methods other than what I said was needed to clear the sewer line. He tried 2 different mechanical snakes and a recirculating pump, none of which would clear the frozen sewer. After his failed attempts with the improper equipment, he called me and said he couldn't get it open but knew somebody who could. I said, "did you use a Water Jetter," he said no but he can usually get it open. So there goes an hour and a half wasted that he billed me for. Colin called another plumber who showed up 45 minutes later while Colin waited outside unnecessarily doing nothing also included in his bill. Not only that he stayed the entire next 3 hours while the other plumber with the proper equipment, a Water Jetter, did all the work clearing the sewer line. Remember this is all on video. During those 3 hours Colin did nothing and only chatted with the other plumber while leaning against my water heater. Colin did not need to be there as the other plumbing company confirmed that this was a one-man job for a person with the Water Jetter. Colin sent his bill for 6 hours at $290 an hour and on top of that he added $150 for "Chlorinate piping and drains" When asked about "chlorinate piping" he only could explain it as flushing the toilet several times. Apparently flushing the toilet wasn't included in his $290 an hour. I called him upon returning home and asked him why he said he had a Water Jetter when he didn't, and he again said he did, and it was the recirculating pump he used. Apparently, he doesn't know the difference! Another negative about Colin, if a plumber doesn't know what equipment he is using, is a big red flag. He was very rude on the phone especially after he realized he was caught red-handed in an act of a swindle recorded on video. Being he obviously has a pattern of scamming people, including older people and widows, overinflating his bills, adding labor, he did not perform we also will report him to the MN Department of Labor and the Wisconsin Department of Labor and Professional Services. When questioned about the bill all he said was "will you didn't pay it". He thought because we didn't fall for his swindling acts, we wouldn't follow up. We are to protect the public. One more thing, Colin's bill was $1890 and the plumber that actually did the work and provided all the necessary equipment, his bill was $723.

They were responsive and did good work but be sure to get a second estimate before hiring them…read more They are RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE! I was in the middle of a kitchen rehab. I hired them to (1) install a gas line - which ended up being 20 feet from the existing gas service in the basement (2) move a portion of a pipe 6 inches and (3) install a water line for my fridge. Per the estimate which in fairness I approved, the bill was $1,637. Todd and his assistant were at my house for 2.5 hrs. After seeing the work involved, I felt like the bill was really expensive. Todd told me to give him a call when I was ready to hook up water to the fridge and gas to the stove. My memory is that he said there would be no additional charge for hooking up the appliances. And in fairness to Todd, the estimate said line install and not hookup. When I was ready to have the appliances hooked up, Todd was responsive and got me on the calendar. Todd showed up and spent roughly 30 minutes hooking up the appliances and then presented me with a bill. I told him that I remembered him saying there wouldn't be additional charges and he said I was mistaken. I gave him my credit card and then was shocked when I looked at the bill after he left. He had charged me over $300 for 30 minutes of work. He had never indicated how much the charge was going to be. I assumed it would be much less. I then contacted him to ask if he would consider lowering the bill to $100 given that I had already paid him $1,600 and that it only took 30 minutes to do the work. He refused. Don't just take my word for it. Look at other reviews. There are several complaints of price gouging.
