I drove over an hour and a half one way. Very bland apples. Too far to check something else out. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

They have the best apple cider around, I have never had better. And the cinnamon sugar donuts are amazing as well.

Nice fruit. Good selection. Friendly and speedy service. Prices ok. Donuts and cider were great. Picnic tables to enjoy on site.

I've finally come around on Aldi…read more Perhaps Aldi has improved over the years. Maybe it is me who has changed. Likely it's a combination of the two. There is still a lot about Aldi that represents the globalization and industrialization of food. But in all fairness, that is frankly what most supermarket chains also represent these days. I suppose if one chooses to eat these products, it's a lot more sensible to pay less for them than to shell out one's hard earned money for ostensibly similar products. On my first visit to this market, in another state many years ago, the only product I recognized as food was their bottles of maple syrup. Now I regularly buy and enjoy things like organic apples, non GMO tofu, raw walnuts, MSC certified frozen fish, and chocolate ice cream to name a few. If I were more adventurous with my wine drinking these days, there are a few bottles that pique my interest. However, drinking much much less makes me reluctant to pick up a random bottle just to satisfy my curiosity. What I like most of all is the camaraderie of Aldi shoppers. There's this feeling that we're all in this together, and I love the exchange of shopping carts for quarters that can happen on the edge of the parking lot. I even got a chance to try out their "twice as nice" guarantee lately, and the clerk was super helpful and quickly helped to process a refund without a receipt. I suppose moldy bread can happen even when it contains preservatives. I don't eat the stuff, but my wife and kid still insist upon soft "sandwich bread" for weekday lunches. It has become a weekly destination to supplement runs to other conventional, gourmet, specialty, and international markets. Not only that, but Aldi's low prices help me to afford more of those pricier foods that I cherish. There is no substitute for great cheese, but one does not need great cheese to make the kid a quesadilla.

I like Aldi. This review is purely because the carts wouldn't take my quarter. When I actually got…read morethe quarter in, the cart lock didn't release. So I drove to Aldi to have a quarter eaten and no cart to shop with. Off to another Aldi.

It's raspberry season so my mom and I were looking for some u-pick places around town. Several of…read moreour old standbys were closed for the weekend so after a bit of digging we came across Berry Hill Farm. So cute! It's right on the border of Dexter/Chelsea and is just big enough to make picking SUPER easy but not so big that you need to spend a ton of time here. I think we were in and out in about 30-40 minutes at most, and we filled a whole flat with delicious berries. They're only open during picking season so check their facebook page for daily updates on picking quality and hours. When you arrive, check in with the owners and they'll give you a box with containers and an empty milk jug to tie around your waist for easy two handed picking. Then dig in! There are several rows of different berry varieties, including red raspberries, black raspberries, and golden raspberries. You'll know they're ripe when they're a deep color and pull right off the bush. The bushes, especially blackberries, are a bit spiky so be careful! I didn't bring gloves because I find them a bit cumbersome so I did get poked a couple of times but nothing major. When you're done, head back to the garage with your tray and they'll tally up your berries. Currently it's $2.50 per pint. Cash or check only. Brought home the berries and they were SO good. They really lasted a long time too. It's been over a week and I've still be throwing them in my yogurt every morning. Baked up beautifully in some breakfast bars too. Excited to have discovered this place and I'm definitely looking forward to visiting year after year.
