Kurtzhals' Farms is a great place to visit and shop…read more I enjoy being there. The layout of this nursery and farm is very easy to navigate. Great wide aisles and plenty of merchandise. I was very pleased with the health of the plants that we were looking at. When I got the plants home and put them in the soil they established themselves quickly and maintained their vigor. They don't seem to force the plants and that's great. When a nursery does that when you get the great looking plant home you could find yourself with a sad, wilting plant the next day that you need to bring back to health. Their displays are quaint, simple, well done and bring out the beauty and interest of what they are selling without overwhelming the shopper with price tag mania. If you have young children keep an eye on them. It is a working farm and therefore presents some of the hazards to be found at any farm. The place is kept clean, it is well lit and has suitable parking. It is easy in and out of the parking lot, but watch for traffic, of course, because it's a two lane road just outside. Look for the great big stone sign on the corner and you can't miss it!

First off, we went on a Friday early evening the week the strawberries were ready for picking and it was PLENTIFUL. So many berries. My family and I all agreed that we would only be picking enough to eat at home and that's it. No jamming, canning, freezing, etc. Yet the berries were so perfect, so ripe and beautiful we somehow picked a full tray each, even in the 90 degree, 60% humidity heat. NO REGRET! It's still super easy to go here. Drive up, grab your tray, pick your berries, drive back and get them weighed (there's stall with mixes for baked goods, jams, and more plus bottled beverages if the heat is getting to you). I can't remember exactly but it shook out to be around 2.59 a pound I believe (but don't quote me on that) and I got $23 dollars worth. Now I have nearly 9lbs of strawberries in my fridge for snacking, baking, and more. But don't expect jam this year. I haven't the energy for that!

The quaint little town has a nice size market complete with local coffee, plants soaps, veggies, strawberries and much much more. They also have events planned for children that do have a cost involved, but I think it is a great idea. Most times they also have someone playing live music On this visit we picked up some rhubarb, and a plant from Re Tree Tecumseh. This organization is fantastic and the money they raised goes back into planting more trees. Plenty of free parking in the library or the next block down.
