Chef Rob's Side Hustle Pizza Truck - Cheeeeeeeeesy bread

Probably the best pizza I've had in Toledo. We got the Funky Monkey and asked him to put gorgonzola…read moreonly on half of it to oblige my gorgonzola hating partner request was no problem and the pizza was ready in about 10 minutes! The crust was super thin and light, but not at all floppy. Great flavor! I wanted more sausage because it was delicious, and I dont normally even enjoy sausage much....this one I would look forward to. All in all a very nice well balanced pizza with great flavors and a lovely soft crust. We also got a h cheesy bread and holy moly it was amazing. We'd come back anyway just for that! Same thin crust as the pizza, garlicky and indulgently cheesy. I'm still thinking about it! Check his Facebook page for updated truck location information. Open Thursday-Sunday at various locations in & around Toledo!

I have mixed feelings about Chef Rob's Side Hustle. But in the end, I like this food truck, with…read morethe key word here being "Chef." UPSIDE; The area where CHEF Rob excels is with his higher end products. His Revolution Buffalo wings are fantastic. The flavor is complex; it goes way beyond just "hot." The breading level is perfect (none, or almost none) and they're perfectly cooked over a wood fire. Furthermore, these wings are like my wife's glutes... they're nice, juicy, and meaty. 5 star product. MORE UPSIDE: Screw the Lion and piss on Kong. Chef Rob's Funky Monkey is the real king of the Glass City Jungle! This Pizza-Like-Object is one awesome product. The white sauce on the Funky Monkey is NOT an alfredo, rather, it's a mixture of EVOO, finely minced garlic, and I think something else. Spread this on a wood-fire-cooked thin crust, and cover it with three cheeses, including Gorgonzola. Then, add sausage, onions, truffle oil, and on top, arugula. Because it lacks a tomato based red sauce, I don't call the Funky Monkey "pizza," but I do call it delicious. DOWNSIDE: When it comes to what I ordinarily think of as "pizza" (pepperoni, with cheese, RED sauce, and crust), this honestly isn't the truck that I'd patronize. The pepperoni pie is below average for Toledo. It's way too greasy, it's crust is soggy, it has hardly any sauce, and the pepperoni has an unpleasant taste. Bonus: Chef Rob probably has the coolest looking food truck in town. The best way to find his current location is by using Facebook or one of the "street food finder" apps. 4 STARS, for now, with a chance for 5.

The one I had was like a BLT. Great breading on the chicken, ratios were excellent, chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy, and the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. It was a perfect harmony of flavors that sent me to heaven briefly. It reminded me of my Grandma's cooking.

But the vegan options are truly just mediocre at best and it felt like it lacked flavor. I had the karmic biscuit made vegan and the vegan friendly poutine. The biscuit was just really hard and doesn't work for a sandwich if it's just going to crumble apart. The poutine was just boring mushroom gravy not executed very well. No attempt of melting the vegan mozzarella was made and the red peppers on top of the poutine just did not make sense taste wise and texture wise with poutine. Hopefully these comments can be used to make good modifications to the vegan options. My non-vegan husband enjoyed his chicken biscuit and regular poutine, but he says it was nothing to write home about and not something he would necessarily seek out again. Outside of the food aspect, the people were very friendly and helpful. We also sat inside patron saints while eating, so it was definitely a nice quiet experience.

I LOOOOVE this taco truck!…read more If I didn't live all the way across town, I guarantee I would be buying tacos every day and worrying about my bills later. I seriously have craved them since trying them out at the food truck festival. First of all the soft corn tortillas are perfect and taste very fresh. Not greasy or dry, just right. All of the different meat choices are great, I wouldn't be upset with having any of them but I personally love the chicken tacos. Very flavorful and not dripping with grease at all. They put the perfect amount of toppings on each one. I've also had the nachos which are pretty good. Just remember if you are going to drive any distance with those nachos that they may end up getting soggy by the time you get home since there is quite a bit of toppings on them. The only way to do it is mow down on those things right there in the parking lot or order the chips on the side. Tamales are good too. Overall, you can't beat the flavor or the prices for anything here!

Located in a little food cart at the intersection of Bancroft and Ashland, Antojitos Laredo is serving killer Mexican at low prices appropriate for the neighborhood it's in. I believe they haul the cart away at night, so if you drive by and don't see it, don't worry... it will be back. Soft tacos with all of the toppings are delicioso! The pork tamales are great! The hot sauce is yummy, complex and REALLY hot! Warning, they don't sell individual tamales, so you'll have to commit to at least 6. Which in my opinion, is a good problem to have. The location is a little odd at first, but there is some great people watching as the Ashland / Bancroft intersection sees a lot of traffic. It's located right next to the brand spanking new Dollar General store, and across the street from that dodgy gas station. 5 stars for a taco truck in the hood? You betcha. This place is legit, and so so close to my house I know it's going to be the death of me. But if this is how I am going to die, I am going to die a happy man.
