I had just purchased my vehicle in November, I noticed my brakes were occasionally squealing so I took it into youngs to get checked out. Not much longer I received a call saying that there was around 70% life still in my brakes and were probably just making noise because they were "cheap". A couple months go by I was driving and I had to make a fast stop and ever since then my brakes were squealing BAD so I went to a mechanic and they told me my caliper was frozen and was shocked that I needed a new caliper already, considering I only have 40 some thousand miles on It. Took my 2023 GMC Canyon with less then 3000 miles in for warranty work. They didn't fix and ended up damaging truck more then what I took it in as. They then lied and now GM won't make them fix it. Don't recommend them to anyone read more

The customer service I had received from the salesperson, Ron Tyner sucked a** ed! He likes rolling his eyes at you behind your back when you are right, I will never recommend anyone to him or that lot. He made my experience miserable. purchased a 1998 aurora late in the day. the Finanace manager rushed me into his office which i thought was odd. unfortunately, this is a lesson too how not everyone has the heart i do. This piece of trash knew what he was doing. i signed the paperwork with no test drive. HUGE mistake. i know its my fault in the end. lets talk about how these ppl think that behavior is acceptable. the wheel bearings had to be replaced, ball joints, one of the windows will not go down. the sunroof is broken. OF COURSE no one mentions this. Now im hearing from my mechanic the crankshaft is walking back and forth in the engine. HORRIBLE experience. these ppl do not care about the human race at all. If you are having to deal with Phillip wilson, do not do it. he is the worst person i met in 2022. read more

Wish I could give negative stars. I have bought cars form here for over a decade. Referred countless people here and always loved my experience. Until now, this place has become like every other dealership. My 2020 Silverado has been consistently leaking oil from day 1. I brought this up to the service department with JT and he advised that under GM guidelines it does not leak enough oil to be investigated. I then paid Youngs for an oil change and brought it back every 1000 miles. Every time they said it wasn't low. I then come to find out they were adding oil because that is the only way they can tell if it burns it up when the check it with the dip stick. After my trips to bring it in an wait for the to check it, they once again told me it does not meet GM specifications for further investigation. I accepted that and moved on with my life. I changed my oil and drove roughly 3240 miles and my low oil light came on. This time after talking to JT he put the blame on myself and said it was obviously something that was done wrong and Youngs does it right, that why they never found it low on oil. He was very condescending and acted like it wasn't his problem. I will be contacting GM and will be telling everyone to avoid Youngs Owosso and all other Youngs affiliates like the plague. Such a disappointing experience. Never in a million years would i have expected this from this dealership. read more

I lost one set of my car keys and was quoted $80 for a replacement key. Instead I was charged over $180 with the service guy telling me that both set of keys had to be reprogrammed and that was the reason for the price increase. He told me that if I ever found my keys to just throw them away as they would no longer work because of the new programing..I just found the keys I thought I had lost..and surprise they unlocked the door and started the car..during this same visit I was quoted repairs in excess of 250 for "a wheel problem" they discovered while my car was on lift..why on a lift when I was getting a key reprogrammed? I felt that I was being taken advantage of because I was a senior citizen and a woman. I took my car to another repair shop 2 days later and was told there wasnt a problem with my wheel. Maybe I would have had better service like some of these previous reviews if I had been a man...the sad thing is when my husband was alive he dealt with Youngs all the time and had good service...but he knew if the things they were suggesting were really necessary..... read more

We bought a brand new 2019 Terrain from the GMC Young dealership on July 5, 2019. The check engine light came on July 30th. I called July 31st and took it in. I was told they could not replicate the light coming on and said it could have been a misfire. The next day, August 1st I was on my way home from work from down town Lansing, I got off 127 to get onto 21E. I stopped at the stop sign and began to go and the car made a big jerk and 4 lights came on including my engine light and the car would hardly move. There was a semi coming that almost hit me and went around me. I could barely get it up to 45 miles per hour. The semi had to turn, so I had to stop behind him and when I went to go it went even slower. Maybe, 35 miles an hour. I had to come to a light before turning down a road to get to my house and now it would not go past 11 miles an hour with message that Engine Power is reduced. We were thinking that maybe the transmission or engine went. I took my husband's car to work the next morning. I called and informed them that we just bought a brand new car a couple of weeks ago and think the transmission or engine went....the girl said when can you bring it in. Huh? I didn't think it would make it in. I had to ask to speak to a manager, and they gave me Peter in the GMC service department. I believe he is not a manger after the couple of weeks of dealing with the dealership. I said I have pics of the lights I took he said no, he said he can tell what lights that were on from this piece of equipment. They had the car from 8/2/19-8/17/19. No one ever reached out to me to tell me what was going on, unless I called and they called back. I called every 3 or 4 days. After a week, I was told they do not know what is going on with it but that they think they might have to replace all the fuel injectors. No fuel injectors were ever replaced. I spoke with JT on 9/5/19 and asked what the status was and my issue on the lack of communication with this brand new vehicle. He said that one of his mechanics did something to it but he got stranded so what ever that was wasn't working and didn't know what the issue. They were going to contact GMC directly. My husband stopped in Wednesday, 8/14/19, to communicate his frustration. He spoke with Peter the sales manager and JT the supervisor of the mechanics and said they couldn't figure it out they were still working with GMC. They asked I bring the loaner vehicle I was using to swap it out the next day because to many miles I was putting on it. I took the loaner car back the next day. Peter approached me and said my car was ready. I said you guys figured it out. He said no, we think whatever we did before contacting GMC fixed it. I was puzzled by that comment because JT told me that the his guy was stranded after he switched some part in it. I asked if I could speak to JT, Peter told me he was at the main campus not at the GMC one. I said that is ok I will go down there. He then said actually he is gone for the day. Which is is Peter? Is he here or gone. That gave me a bad feeling about his integrity. I walked into speak with Jarod that my husband spoke to the day before. He said he didn't know our car was done. I said again no communication. I also mentioned if my car was done why didn't I get a call. I told him I have a bad feeling about this. I feel like we bought a lemon, not to mention I was almost killed by a semitruck and now magically you guys think the vehicle is fixed. He went and talked to Peter came back and said well we have to do what GMC wants us to do, but how about I take the vehicle and put in the highway and off since that is when it happended and we haven't tested it that high of speed. He said unless I hear from him meaning there is an issue to bring the loaner back on Saturday morning and get my car. I didn't hear anything. I bring the loaner back on Saturday 8/17/19. Jarod and I walk back to get the vehicle. They have no paper work ready. Really, you knew I was coming back and I have not had the most pleasant experience. I said well I cannot leave with my vehicle unless I have something that has proof the vehicle was with Young's for over two weeks. It's for protection. They gave me some short form and said they would email out an amended copy. Jarod said he has the vehicle all filled up for me. I am not understanding if he thinks that eases the situation or am I suppose to feel grateful? He also told me I cannot take the vehicle to any other dealer but them because they have it wired weird and no one would be able to understand it. He said I will have to bring it back in in 3 months.What????? What if I break down in Lansing or out of state. I get the amended copy today and it doesn't have all the information in it. Jarod called and left a voice message for me to call him. I am SO FRUSTRATED. I took off a half of day of work 8/2/19, and a full day 8/13 to come in person to talk to someone. Young's delivered a vehicle to me at my office to use and then took my Volt in for an oil change and recall item, returned the Volt to my house and picked up my Suburban for an oil change and wiper repair and then allowed me to drop off the loaner vehicle (the owner's own vehicle) after hours and pick up my Suburban on the way back home. All this took place in less than a half a day. Awesome service. read more

They put budget cars in the main used car lot and sell them without informing consumers exactly what they are getting. Their service department isn't inspecting them nor does the sales department provide the proper disclosures. Used cars are a craps shoot but ones in the regular lot, not the budget lot, should have been inspected. Buying a vehicle and having it break down 2 miles from the dealership was crap and they know it. After leasing 1 vehicle and purchasing 3 others, I will never purchase or lease another thing from them. Apparently customer satisfaction and customer loyalty don't mean anything. read more

I have never written a bad review, but feel I must for other's protection from Young's in Owosso, MI. This is regarding a serious recall on my 2009 Buick LaCrosse. There were actually 2 recalls, but I was not aware of one on the headlights that required Young's employees to unhook the battery for the repair. They did this along with the dangerous ignition recall. After I left, a little over an hour later I was almost stranded when the ignition would first not turn-over the engine, and then afterwards OVER-throttled. Upon my immediate return to Young's, I also explained that the clock was an hour off from the actual time, which they acknowledged. They tested the battery which registered 580 (normal) and explained they unhooked the battery to do the head light recall. I asked them to check what is NOW wrong with the car since it never had this problem. They also agreed with me that it didn't happen to them when THEY started the engine BEFORE repair. HERE IT COMES...They said they would ONLY check it for $65, which of course was unreasonable. After a lengthy back and forth it was finally stated that it could possibly be waived if they didn't cause the problem. My trust of them was to zero at this point, especially after stating to me that writing a Google review was a hostage activity by me towards them. I asked them what recourse do consumers have but to make GM & others aware of their bad business practices? I left Young's with the car over throttling, fearful of what could happen to me in the car. A professional found the problem when I took it elsewhere which is CLOSE to this online explanation "...When the battery is disconnected, some late model vehicles will lose this learned idle position, which will cause the vehicle to stall." http://repairpal.com/engine-stalling-after-battery-replacement This cost me over $60 to repair, also having the throttle adjusted to correct the situation, all because the battery was disconnected. There has been no acknowledgment of any wrong doing on Young's part (all the way up to management). They would not recognize it was the ACT of disconnecting the battery, not the part replaced for the hazardous ignition problem that caused the situation. BOTTOM LINE - Young's in Owosso has zero capability to treat their customers fairly and resolve a problem that is highly probable (and later confirmed) THEY CREATED. I felt talked down to as a female, feeling UNSAFE and AT-RISK leaving their facility. One of my last statements was I only wanted to keep my family safe by honoring the re-call. I felt their greatest concern was NOT for my safety, but to make sure I UNDERSTOOD they would get their money regardless of any and ALL circumstances.
