I'd recommend the karate program 2-days a week. You can pick any 2 days and if you don't make it one day or schedule changes, you can always drop in another day. My youngest daughter is shy and doesn't play well with others. But she's thriving and blossoming. She's very disciplined, but likes to draw alone and build alone. She looks forward to karate and seeing her friends and listens very well and participates every class. It's great to see her thrive. My other children are social butterflies and listen well. So karate is helping them become more disciplined and confident. Each week the kids are tasked with various skills. These skills range from basic kicking and punching, but they also incorporate Krav Maga to help with "Stranger Danger". The 4 teachers are incredible and very patient. I wish they would discipline some of the more troubled kids who don't listen, but it's a fine line to walk when the kids parents don't discipline and let their children act a ruckus. But they manage to keep the class moving and participation very high for every child.

As a mom, I believe it's so important for children to learn basic self-defense not because I expect something bad to happen, but because I want them to have the confidence and skills to protect themselves if they ever need to. At first, my boys were nervous and intimidated. We visited a few schools before making a decision, but from the moment we walked into Teragi, we knew this place was different. Everyone made us feel like family. The professors and coaches are exceptional not only because of their experience and skill, but because they genuinely care about every child. They encourage, support, and meet each child where they are. I especially want to mention my youngest. Jiu-jitsu didn't come naturally to him at first, and he struggled to understand the techniques. The professors and coaches were incredibly patient and never made him feel like he was behind. They allowed him to learn at his own pace, and now it's amazing to see how much his confidence and skills have grown. That patience meant so much to our family. There's no pressure for kids to be the best. Every child learns differently, and the professors and coaches truly understand that. Since we homeschool, Teragi has become more than just a place to train. My boys have made wonderful friendships, and we've found an incredible community. I also have to mention how clean the academy is! It never has that old gym smell and is always welcoming. I've watched both of my boys grow not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. They're more confident, disciplined, and respectful. If you're on the fence about jiu-jitsu because you don't like the idea of your child being on the ground, I completely understand. I felt the same way. But the reality is that many real-life self-defense situations end up on the ground, and knowing what to do can make all the difference. The owners, professors, and coaches have cultivated a superb gym culture. This gym is safe, friendly, and supportive. The facility is modern and clean, and they've invested in a foam block subfloor beneath the mats for softer landings. As far as I know, this is the only gym in the area that offers women-only classes four times per week and a bi-monthly community open mat for gentlemen 40 years and older. My kids train here after school 4-5 days a week, and they love it. The kids' professors and coaches are experienced and amazing teachers. I'm especially thankful for the young coaches who were so patient and kind to my boys when they were hesitant and shy after first starting. And my pocketbook is especially thankful for the discounted rates for additional family members. If you're looking for a place where the whole family can train, grow, and feel welcome, I can't recommend Teragi highly enough.

My family (family of 4) had a blast here! We stayed there for about 6 hours. We did the obstacle…read morecourse twice and rented 2 kayaks while we were there. Bought 3 food items and a gatorade. But we spent alittle over $300 there on everything! There is a $35 or $45 entrance fee depending on when you come. It's just to come inside the lagoon. If you want the obstacle course it's an additional $10 per person for 55 mins (super short). If you want to kayak, use the aqua bike or use the paddleboard it's an additional $10 per equipment/item. There is a kiddie area for small and young children. They DO NOT allow outside food or drinks except water! There is a small shop that sells misc. items, snacks & drinks (overpriced). They also had a foodtruck inside that was expensive and the meals didn't come with drinks. They do have plenty of staff and lifeguards there. The entrance fee should of been $15-20. The obstacle course atleast 90-120 mins instead of the 55 mins. Wish the foodtruck came with drinks and was a bigger portion.

It's by far the warmest pool we could find, and it's the only place where my son happily stays in the water without shivering. Our regular instructor is Mr. Nori, and he has been wonderful with my son. He's patient, encouraging, and fantastic with all of the kids I've seen in his classes. We recently missed a couple of lessons and had to attend makeup classes. For whatever reason, my son suddenly decided he didn't want to go back for his lesson. Miss Kaylee stepped in and was incredible. She tried everything she could to gently encourage him to go to the back pool, but when it became clear he wasn't going to do it, she didn't give up. Instead, she offered to work with him one-on-one in the front pool where we already were. She even promised she wouldn't put his head under the water. In the end, he became comfortable enough that he chose to put his face in the water on his own with her guidance, but she honored her promise and never forced him. That meant so much to me. I don't know if she was on her lunch break, between classes, or supposed to be doing something else, but I know that impromptu private lesson wasn't part of her day. She took the time simply because she cared, and it completely turned the experience around for my son. The best part is that it worked. Today my son happily got back in the water with Mr. Nori, and I honestly think it was his best lesson yet. Mr. Nori was so sweet, so encouraging, and genuinely proud of him. Seeing his confidence come back was such a great moment as a parent, and I really credit both instructors for making that happen. Every single person we've interacted with has been kind, welcoming, patient, and genuinely wonderful with kids. I honestly have not had a single negative experience here. The first class is free, the warm water makes such a difference, and the little splash pad was a huge part of getting my son's initial buy-in. From the instructors to the front desk staff, the entire team is amazing. If you're looking for swim lessons for your child, I highly recommend Australian Swim School!

We've been going to this school since they were in Fullerton, and they've always been great. My daughter started with Mr Nori and he's one of her favorite instructors. She's gone through a few instructors and we've never had a bad experience. My son now attends the school too. This morning, my daughter had a make up class and had to go into a different swim lane with a new teacher. She's been apprehensive about leaving her current school and starting kinder next year, and the emotions came out today. She started crying and holding onto me when she saw the new lane and instructor and said she doesn't want new things. Within seconds, Mr Scott came over and began comforting her asking if she'd like to see her other instructor Mayumi. Mayumi wasn't even dressed to go in the water, but rolled up her jeans and sat in another lane with her. Mr Nori came by to say hi and comfort her, and Mr Christopher gave her a private lesson for a few minutes while she adjusted. He eventually asked her if she wanted to join him in the new lane with the new instructor, and she said yes and was happy the rest of the time. Mayumi also came back to check on her. This is the level of care any parent looks for in a school and I highly recommend coming here.

The staff is wonderful and the prices are fair and they will even place your umbrella in the sand for you and they have this special way of securing the pole so you don't have to worry about it being blown away if the wind. We are huge fans of Young Champions Karate at the Fountain Valley Recreational Center. Our 9-year old son started class almost a year ago and has had a wonderful experience. Sensei Jason is very caring and inspiring teacher and work hard to instill respect, confidence and encouragement in all of his students. He gives personal attention to each student and foster a positive environment in which students support and encourage each other as they learn the skills. The senior students who help teach the classes are also very skilled and enthusiastic and serve as strong role models for the younger/newer students. Sensei Jason also work to ensure that the respect and good behavior are continuing at home and school as students prepare to receive their next belt. Our son loves to go to class each week and feels a strong sense of pride and accomplishment each time he passes a stripe test or gets a new belt. Before choosing Young Champions, I visited a lot of Martial Arts schools, trying to find one for my kids that was right. After sitting in on the class at the Burbank location, I knew it was the right place. The Karate Master is extremely knowledgeable in Martial Arts and cares about the kids. Kudos to Young Champions for finding him! This program ensures that they are prepared to defend themselves against bullies, and it helps to develop their self-confidence. My daughter has been attending class in Norwalk with Coach Celida for two years now. My daughter absolutely loves it and so do I. Coach Celida helps her class to build confidence and learn and build on their skills. Each child learns at a different level and she understands that, so the children are more inclined to put an effort and enjoy it and take something from it. Even the shier children that come in for the first time seem to jump right into it and before you know it they are busting out moves with the rest of them. My 5 year old joined the Young Champions program for Karate under Sensei Nate in Yorba Linda this past September (2013). He absolutely loves it. Sensei Nate is a great instructor. He's strict and expects the children to listen and follow instructions but makes it fun for them at the same time, so fun that my son is always asking if he can stay for an extra class because he likes it so much. I will definitely be signing him up for the next session. My son has been in the Karate Program at Stanton with Sensei Jessica, Then started doing about 3 hours @ Stanton then would drive to Tustin and do close to another 3 hours of practice to fulfill our Saturdays. Then we meet Sensei Jason and started our 3 hours @ Fountain Valley on Wednesdays until the 3 week break between sessions, we started going to South Gate for 3 hours of practice.. My children have been participating in the Young Champions programs for quite a few years now. Their classes are in Hacienda Height with Sensei Alex. He is a very patient and dedicated instructor. No child is lost in the group....even the easily distracted child (mine). I would strongly recommend this class to anyone looking for a class that will promote technique, discipline, and confidence in their children. Young Champions is an accomplished organization with focus and emphasis on children development in sports. The staff a cordial and trained in educating kids that are novice in athletics. They are skilled trainers that create an environment that's both fun and safe for kids. I recommend using this organization if your looking to get you child introduce to sports or any other activity. Plus she has bonded with her fellow dancers, making friends and becoming part of a community. The teachers are caring and supportive, as well as talented and inspirational. Plus the staff watches out for the students, not just making sure they learn but also ensuring that they develop their talents appropriately. Everything from the dances students learn to the costumes they wear is targeted to the students' ages and abilities. I'd recommend this studio highly.

This was the first extracurricular activity for the little girl who was placed in our care while we were her temporary guardians. She was only 3 years old when she started. Because of her early childhood experiences, she struggled with balance, had slower processing, and had a difficult time following directions. Naturally, we were nervous about how she would adjust. Master Jazmine immediately made us feel comfortable. She has such a special gift for working with young children, and every instructor we met was incredibly patient, encouraging, and caring. It also helped that my sister and brother-in-law knew Master Jazmine, which gave us even more confidence in choosing Team Kwon. Over time, we watched her grow in ways we never expected. Her balance improved, she became more confident, learned discipline, and picked up so many taekwondo skills. The instructors celebrated her progress every step of the way, and they truly became like family to us. We were also so grateful for their summer camp. It was affordable, well organized, and filled with different activities every day, so the kids were always engaged and having fun. Most importantly, we always felt completely safe leaving her in their care for the entire day. Knowing she was in a loving, structured environment gave us incredible peace of mind. Wow, it has been years since I've written a review, yet I feel strongly enough to do so today…read more My daughter has been going to Academy 831 for the past year or so, and she started when she was around 4 years old. In the beginning, I enjoyed having my daughter here because there are big windows where I can see how she is doing, and the place is clean and spacious enough to not feel crowded. That is still the case, and the front staff is very friendly, accommodating, and informative with everything that goes on at this studio. I have had very little interaction with the owner so I can't speak to that, but overall this place seemed like a good fit for the past year or so. However, over the past 6 months or so, I've noticed a change in my child's behavior when it comes to participating in dance class. I believe that difficult situations can make my kid stronger in most regards, so I chose to observe rather than pull her out of dance as soon as she wanted. I am able to take my daughter to dance class every other Wednesday, and what I've observed is a complete lack of empathy, compassion, and kindness from Miss Megan, one of the dance teachers that teaches on Wednesday's from 5-6 pm. Over the course of a few months, I noticed some instances that I kind of brushed off as structure and a part of the growth process; but now that I look back on it, I was so very wrong. Some instances include: when my kid was having a bloody nose before dance class and she wanted to come out to blow her nose during class, Miss Megan did not allow her to. When my kid said she needed to use the restroom, Miss Megan did not allow her to. I have heard Miss Megan say, "you're fine, you don't need your Mommy" on multiple occasions. Yesterday, was my final straw. Yesterday, my kid was having a rough day. She fell during class, and she had a noticeable cry out. She looked like it hurt her to continue. I opened the class door to say "what happened?" Miss Megan said "oh she just fell, she's fine." Did Miss Megan physically walk over to check on her? No. Later on towards the class, my kid got her finger slammed by the door while going into the classroom after changing into her tap shoes. She immediately fell to the floor. While I'm holding my 2 year old, I yell out to my husband to go help my child who is on the floor in tears from the pain. Where is Miss Megan? Sitting on her bottom. The only thing she moved were her eyes. Not even a single intent to move her body to check on an injured child. This speaks volumes to how much she cares about the children she "teaches." Thank you to the owner, Christa (I'm gathering from yelp review replies), for offering an ice pack, as I'm fumbling to try to get a cold water bottle from the vending machine, and a bandaid for my inconsolable child. My kid's finger has a huge cut and her nail is black and blue, I wouldn't be surprised if the nail falls off during the healing process. I'd like this to serve as a reminder. These "dance teachers" are teaching CHILDREN. Children have immature brains and cannot process situations easily. They need to feel safe and nurtured and they need to feel like their basic needs can be met easily, such as having the freedom to use the bathroom when they need to or find their Mommy to blow their nose if they can't breathe through it. We will be finishing up this "season" of dance because my kid likes to perform, and we will be looking for a new studio that has a little more compassion and passion for teaching children. I'm a pediatric provider, and this is 100% NOT the way we should be treating our kids. As long as Miss Megan is a teacher at this school, there is no place for my children here.

Even at some private schools, you may be paying a great deal and your child is not getting a good education like they would here. That is the case with me. I had my little one at a private school that was pretty much a high tuition day care. She was not learning too much but had lots of play time and naps. Here, they kind of merged fun and education. The little one loves it and the school has provided a direct turn around from the deficiencies that resulted from her previous school. The student to teacher ration is very good. The teachers communicate very well with all aspects of the education and they are straight forward. Does the school cost a lot? You bet! Even with a good school district, education for the little ones is very important at this younger age. The tuition here is well validated with the education the kids are getting. The uniforms are very reasonable. In fact, it is probably cheaper that the kids wear the uniforms than having to buy so many clothes. It makes it easy to get them ready in the mornings as well. Great Education and Excellent Teachers at this Location!

The teachers and staff are incredibly kind, generous, and patient. The campus is clean, organized, and vibrant. The communication between the staff/teachers and parents is top notch. I could never thank the teachers enough for loving on our son, teaching him/working with him, and always giving him the grace he needs at times. We are truly going to miss everyone here and my only wish is that I could take this school with us when we move. If you are looking for an amazing school for your children, this place is hands down the best and I wouldn't recommend anywhere else in the OC.
