I couldn't be happier with my son's experience at this jiu-jitsu gym. From the moment we walked in,…read moreit was clear that Professor Justin and all the coaches have created something truly special. What stands out most is the incredible culture they've built. Jiu-jitsu can feel intimidating for young kids who are new to the sport, but the coaches here have the perfect temperament. They know exactly how to talk to the children, make them feel comfortable and confident, and gently guide them through the learning process. At the same time, they're excellent at instilling real discipline, hard work, and the value of consistent practice--skills that my son is carrying over into school and everyday life. The results speak for themselves: the gym is always packed with kids who are excited to train, and the adult classes are just as busy. That level of enthusiasm from both children and grown-ups tells you everything you need to know about the quality of instruction and the positive environment. Professor Justin and his team don't just teach techniques--they empower kids. My son has grown so much in confidence, focus, and respect since starting here. If you're looking for a jiu-jitsu gym that truly understands how to train and develop young athletes while keeping the fun and supportive vibe alive, this is the place. We feel incredibly lucky to have found this gym. Five stars all the way--highly, highly recommended!

A huge part of that is thanks to Professor Justin, who does an amazing job creating a positive, respectful, and motivating atmosphere at Gracie Barra Fullerton. His leadership really sets the tone for the entire gym. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and do a great job breaking things down so everyone -- no matter their experience level -- can learn and grow in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. What makes this place even more special for us is that it's become a family activity. Not only do I train here, but so do my husband and our two daughters. Our girls have been training for about 10 months now, and the growth we've seen in them has been incredible. Their confidence has grown so much, and they've learned discipline, resilience, and how to believe in themselves. We're so grateful to be part of such a positive and empowering community. If you're looking for knowledgeable coaches, a great atmosphere, and a place where the whole family can train, this is it.

I've been to places where it seemed salesy or lacking authenticity. Teragi Academy is a place where they genuinely practice and instill jiu jitsu and its culture of honor and regard of others. The promotion of belts is carried out quarterly and only awarded based on merit. This is also something I greatly appreciate because I know many establishments that give out promotions for no reason at all. Since day one, the professors and coaches of this gym have been patient and meticulous in teaching techniques to the kids. Teragi has been instrumental in providing confidence as well as self awareness for my son. I've seen many of the other kids mature in their own ways for the past 2 years. It's always a wonder to see everyone come up together. For myself and my family, we seen so much growth and discipline in our boy. There's a comfort in knowing that our child is not left helpless and able to stand up himself as well as for others. I've been watching in the sidelines, two to three times a week, for the last 2 years. This is a program that provides a worthwhile experience. The benefit and journey is well worth the investment for anyone, young or old.

The staff for the summer program and after school program are fun and responsible and my kids always enjoy their time with them. Teragi is a little far for me so it's my home away from home and I try to do drop in classes whenever I have the chance. I always learn something new and helpful that I can take back to my home gym. The other guys in the class are always welcoming and friendly so I recommend anyone to drop in. It's also one of the nicest facilities I've seen with a large rolling area and a side area with tables and couches for kids to hangout and wait if I'm doing an adult class. Teragi is worth a visit!

The Grand Master (Master Yang) is an incredible teacher. He does an excellent job of breaking down all of the lessons into small steps and developing students of all skill levels. Grand Master Yang's passion for Tae Kwon Do truly brings a positive and fun energy to each class. From the leadership to the students, everyone I've shared the mat with at Shambhala has been supportive and welcoming. It feels great to learn within a community of students who enjoy sharing their knowledge as well as helping each other grow as martial artists. From adults to children, I've seen students of all ages and backgrounds learning Tae Kwon Do at Shambhala. There are programs that are designed for all skill levels and age groups. The facility is spacious and always clean. This really helps reinforce a welcoming atmosphere. My favorite aspect of learning at Shambhala is understanding the philosophies that are taught alongside each skill level. Each belt carries a unique philosophy (Example: White Belt = HONOR). Within our classes, we learn the deeper meanings of each philosophy and how to apply them into our lives. This emphasis on personal development is what has stood out to me the most at Shambhala Tae Kwon Do. I was excited to discover a martial arts school that not only focuses on developing self-defense skills, but also introduces quality of life principles that help bring clarity and empowerment to each student. This truly feels like a comprehensive martial arts education. Reflecting on my Shambhala journey, it's rewarding to see the progress I have made over the past year. I have noticed several improvements in my personal life including: greater self-confidence & happiness. I've also discovered a new passion in Tae Kwon Do. There is a sense of joy and fulfillment in learning & developing a new skill. I'm thankful that I've found a learning program with a great community and leadership team that have helped me better understand the wholeness of being a martial artist.
