I'm 23 and this is my first time learning any type of martial arts. I signed up for the trial classes and really enjoyed all the sessions. Every class is different, so I never know what I'll be learning, which is very fun! Grandmaster Kwon and all the other instructors are very helpful in teaching and making me feel welcome. Can't wait to progress and earn a black belt one day! If you need some great workouts to relieve stress from an office job, this is the place to go to

A friend of mine referred Team Kwon Tae Kwon Do Center to our family and we are so thankful that they did! My kids (6, 3.5) were showing some interest in learning Tae Kwon Do so we signed up for the 2 week trial. I wasn't sure what the process would look like, but once I scrolled through the website it was set up efficiently and I was able to sign up and even schedule the classes right then and there. Grand Master Kwon and his staff are incredibly amazing. The moment you step inside the center, you get surrounded with a sense of respect and honor everyone has for one another. My little one was having some anxiety but the instructors were so kind and one instructor sweetly said "I'm not giving up on you!" I truly appreciate the care and patience that is shown to every single student. Since the 2 week trial was coming to an end, I was shown different packages that I could sign my kids up for. I did not feel pressured at all and had complete trust in I was told based on what I was able to see with my own eyes during the trial period. I cannot recommend Team Kwon Tae Kwon do enough. I'm so excited for my kids that I may sign up for classes for myself!

Master Kwon (Olympic Gold Medalist) and Master Jasmine are amazing leaders and teachers! The other black belt staff are also fantastic role models for my daughter, who has been with Team Kwon for over a year! She is learning incredible life lessons in discipline, respect, and perseverance in addition to self-defense and technical taekwondo skills. Highly highly recommend!

We love Master Lee and Master Jo!…read more We were looking for a TKD class and a friend from baseball/ school told us about Scholar Athlete. I was bummed bc their original location was literally 2 mins from our house but we decided to check them out anyway. I called and spoke with Master Jo. I told him we had 3 boys (friends) that were interested in trying. He told me about the amazing deal they were having in May ($50 for the month or 8 classes) The 3 boys started together and have been having a blast since. In the beginning, it's always overwhelming especially for 5 yr olds to walk in, as everyone else seems to know what they're doing and everyone is speaking Korean! But Master Lee and Master Jo ensured that ALL the new members had some focus time, felt welcomed, felt supported, and encouraged. About midway through our trial month the kids tested for their white belts, and the official membership was discussed. This part of the process is a bit strange -- They don't advertise their membership prices/ options. Only master Lee discusses this with you in his office. You can't write anything down or take a picture. Why that is? I don't know. But the pricing is very reasonable compared to other TKD places and karate places we had spoken to previously. You have the option to choose between 2 classes a week or 3. We started off with 2 but ended up switching to 3 because I wanted my kid to have more practice and retention esp in the beginning. Not only are they teaching TKD basics, there's so many more principals that are taught. Listening, respect, focus, and confidence. Discipline of course. The studio/ dojo itself is very minimal. It's not a big fancy place. It's in a strip mall that I normally wouldn't go to, but none of that really matters bc of the actual teachings and learnings. Now, we've also witnessed Master Lee disciplining some of his more senior students - and I'm not sure if I agree with the style in which he does that. I'm not to judge bc maybe that works, that's why he has so many great students - but I do wish that he didn't do it in front of the younger kids? It's weird. He equally belittles the older students (like his protoge's) but he's so encouraging and supportive of the students too. lol it's interesting to witness but just something to note. Oh yes the only real concern I would flag is that -- I wish they would CLEAN THE DAMN MATS. Our kid leaves with black feet every time and it's gross esp when they do stretches and puts their face down on it (I've literally told my kid to never ever put his face on it) Anyways we love it here!

The Grand Master (Master Yang) is an incredible teacher. He does an excellent job of breaking down all of the lessons into small steps and developing students of all skill levels. Grand Master Yang's passion for Tae Kwon Do truly brings a positive and fun energy to each class. From the leadership to the students, everyone I've shared the mat with at Shambhala has been supportive and welcoming. It feels great to learn within a community of students who enjoy sharing their knowledge as well as helping each other grow as martial artists. From adults to children, I've seen students of all ages and backgrounds learning Tae Kwon Do at Shambhala. There are programs that are designed for all skill levels and age groups. The facility is spacious and always clean. This really helps reinforce a welcoming atmosphere. My favorite aspect of learning at Shambhala is understanding the philosophies that are taught alongside each skill level. Each belt carries a unique philosophy (Example: White Belt = HONOR). Within our classes, we learn the deeper meanings of each philosophy and how to apply them into our lives. This emphasis on personal development is what has stood out to me the most at Shambhala Tae Kwon Do. I was excited to discover a martial arts school that not only focuses on developing self-defense skills, but also introduces quality of life principles that help bring clarity and empowerment to each student. This truly feels like a comprehensive martial arts education. Reflecting on my Shambhala journey, it's rewarding to see the progress I have made over the past year. I have noticed several improvements in my personal life including: greater self-confidence & happiness. I've also discovered a new passion in Tae Kwon Do. There is a sense of joy and fulfillment in learning & developing a new skill. I'm thankful that I've found a learning program with a great community and leadership team that have helped me better understand the wholeness of being a martial artist.

I've been to places where it seemed salesy or lacking authenticity. Teragi Academy is a place where they genuinely practice and instill jiu jitsu and its culture of honor and regard of others. The promotion of belts is carried out quarterly and only awarded based on merit. This is also something I greatly appreciate because I know many establishments that give out promotions for no reason at all. Since day one, the professors and coaches of this gym have been patient and meticulous in teaching techniques to the kids. Teragi has been instrumental in providing confidence as well as self awareness for my son. I've seen many of the other kids mature in their own ways for the past 2 years. It's always a wonder to see everyone come up together. For myself and my family, we seen so much growth and discipline in our boy. There's a comfort in knowing that our child is not left helpless and able to stand up himself as well as for others. I also really appreciate that both boys and girls train together here. Unlike many other places where higher levels are dominated by boys, this environment feels balanced, inclusive, and encouraging for all children. The assistant instructors--both older brothers and sisters--are wonderful. They genuinely care about each child, know them by name, and treat them with patience and warmth. You can truly feel that the kids are loved and supported. This is a very safe and well-managed environment. Parents can feel comfortable stepping away to take care of other things, knowing their children are being watched carefully.
