Our little guy was interested in starting Taekwondo and his friend from school was going here. Since his Mom highly recommended TKS, we decided to try it. In just 2 short months, our little guy has learned so much. The Masters work carefully with him to build his skills and what I love the most is that while they are focused on training, they are also teaching him about respect. They are influencing his whole self, his view on how to demonstrate active listening and they have even helped him understand how important it is to put away his toys with no help! We recently participated in a Make-up belt test and were able to see what different belts had learned while the kids proved their abilities. We were so excited to see each child at a different level, demonstrate what they had learned and prove that they deserved to move to the next belt. We were also impressed with the confidence, active listening and respect that each student showed. And of course, we loved to see the different levels break boards in different ways. As their skills improve, there are more opportunities to participate, which is fantastic. I have a son with left hemiparesis due to a stroke. After a year of intense physical and occupational therapies, he had been referred to attend a martial arts center by his therapists for physical activities. Luckily, TKS was located just around the corner. I went there for a consultation in regards to my son's physical condition. After I talked to Master Lee, I felt very confident this is going to be the place where I want my son to be trained at and cared for. Master Lee is a very caring and dedicated person. He provides individualized attention towards his students, and his passion and dedication towards ongoing growth in Taekwondo techniques is beyond words can describe. However, he doesn't only teach Taekwondo techniques, but also teaches life skills and character education to his students. He teaches his students confidence, self defense, responsibility, and accountability while making it fun and understanding they're kids. I'm totally perplexed by the one star review. It doesn't sound like anyone we know. This school is AMAZING! My father was a Grandmaster and taught Taekwondo for over 40 years including in the Korean marines and to American special forces in Vietnam. I know a quality Master when I see one. I wouldn't send my kids anywhere else and there is a Taekwondo school on every block here in Orange County. Master Lee genuinely cares about the kids. My daughters Taekwondo ability has surpassed my expectations. She's won many gold medals in local competitions and on the national level. Don't be fooled by strange reviews. My children have gone here for a couple years and have improved to the point where I am impressed by some of the things they can do now. The good things first: Masters are good with keeping kids attention. They mix it up alot with things like jump-rope games and running games. I think they also effectively teach kids how to become good martial artists. Master Lee and Qwak are very good teachers and we have been happy with entrusting our kids to their direction. Now the not so good: the dojang is hot. Picture a room with no air conditioning and scores of sweaty kids, and you get the idea. Not sure if the place has A/C, but if it does, they certainly dont use it. And its BYOW (bring your own water). They used to have a water cooler but now if you dont bring your own water, you are out of luck. Also, the dojang is relatively small. it used to be fine when there were not many kids there, but this place has really grown and a lot of kids now go there. So the kids are packed into the room, sometimes running into each other. They recently renovated the dojang and "expanded" the space, which has helped a lot and modernized the facility quite a bit. Over all, we have been happy enough to stay and grow with TKS. Is it the best place as some of the other reviews are claiming? One can argue both ways, but that is the case for any TKD dojang. As far as learning martial arts though, its a solid choice. Oh, and some of the other reviewers complain that all the Korean moms tend to talk Korean to each other and not engage others. Seriously, dont take offense if you find yourself excluded. Its often that those same moms cant speak English or cant speak well, so they are not avoiding you cause they dont like you, but more that they are not comfortable talking English. read more

As an educator, I have extremely high standards for any adult that is working with my child. I expect the adult to be prepared for my son with well thought out activities and to have clear goals that are attainable for him but that are not easily reached. I do not accept mediocrity or praise when it is unwarranted. As you can tell, I expect a lot and I am not easily impressed. These are the reason that I have decided to write a review for TKS Martial Arts Center. Master Lee is the owner of TKS and he has earned my respect and admiration. Master Lee has the ability, as all exceptional teachers possess, to see the class as a whole and keep them focused while noticing the needs of each individual child. My five year old son has been his student for almost a year now and I have been impressed with not only his athletic improvement but in his increased maturity. I attribute this growth to the way in which Master Lee runs his classes. Respect and consideration are always of the utmost importance while learning the art of Tae Kwon Do. I am always impressed by the teenage students who are wonderful models to the younger students of how to show respect to others. Even as an educator who is around children of all ages, I have never seen so many teenagers speaking politely, offering assistance, and being supportive of others while participating in a sporting activity. It is refreshing considering that some sports are plagued with negativity from both the kids and parents. Knowing that we wanted to soon start our little one in Tae Kwon Do, my husband and I started to look at several different studios in the area. We asked friends which schools their kids were at and what they liked about them. Some of the biggest raves was about a Master Lee from Eagle Tae Kwon Do. Our friends told us about what a great instructor he is, but unfortunately for them he was leaving to start his own school. Lucky for us, Master Lee did open his own school and it happened to be the new one that just opened near our neighborhood. When we went for a visit and met Master Lee, we immediately liked him and his demeanor. After speaking to several parents of students who had followed him to his new studio, we knew we found the school for us. It says a lot about Master Lee that most of his students from Eagle (which is quite a bit away) followed him to his new studio. I have met several parents whose children started with Master Lee over 10 years ago, from beginning white belt to their current black belts, and their raves say it all. Our 3 1/2 year old has been there almost 2 months now, and we have noticed a huge difference in his ability to follow instructions, his physicality and his self-confidence. We see improvement on a weekly basis, and it makes us really happy with our decision. Not to mention that he loves the class and he loves Master Lee and Master Kwak, another great instructor at TKS. I absolutely understand why so many of his students followed him to his new studio. Master Lee gives a lot of personal instruction and is incredibly patient and joyful with the young ones and finds so many different ways to engage them, keep their interest and teach them the skills necessary to improve. On the other hand, having watched him with his advanced students, I see that he's also serious, stern and a strict enforcer of technique and skill. Somehow, he is able to be all this while being beloved, a little feared (the good kind) and respected at the same time. After watching our little one for the last couple months, I decided I wanted to give it a try myself, so I just started class. So far, one class and my body is sore (the good kind) and I'm feeling very optimistic that this will give me a well rounded workout for my body, my spirit and my mind.
