Things we didn't expect that he'd learn are the intangible life lessons: discipline, respect, integrity and leadership. Master Kwon and Master Jasmine made us feel part of the team Kwon family from day one. Their passion not only for taekwondo, but to also create future leaders is inspiring. As a matter of fact ALL instructors are fantastic. Besides taekwondo, team Kwon also has "THE BEST" summer camp according to our kids! They actually wake us up early to get dropped off as soon as they can! The friendships and team Kwon family we built is something we'll treasure forever.

What began as a simple goal quickly grew into a true passion. He is now part of both the Poomsae and Sparring competition teams, something we never imagined when he first stepped onto the mat. A year into his training, my daughter enrolled in there summer camp program and now also enjoys classes and competing at local tournaments. The masters and staff at Team Kwon are genuinely amazing. They are skilled, caring, and deeply invested in every student's growth--not just as martial artists, but as people. The saying "it takes a village to raise a child" feels more true than ever, and I'm proud to say that Team Kwon is part of our village. They help us raise kids who embody respect, integrity, loyalty, and self‑confidence. We are incredibly grateful for everything this school has given our family. If you're looking for a place where your child can grow in discipline, character, and passion, Team Kwon is truly exceptional.

We love Master Lee and Master Jo!…read more We were looking for a TKD class and a friend from baseball/ school told us about Scholar Athlete. I was bummed bc their original location was literally 2 mins from our house but we decided to check them out anyway. I called and spoke with Master Jo. I told him we had 3 boys (friends) that were interested in trying. He told me about the amazing deal they were having in May ($50 for the month or 8 classes) The 3 boys started together and have been having a blast since. In the beginning, it's always overwhelming especially for 5 yr olds to walk in, as everyone else seems to know what they're doing and everyone is speaking Korean! But Master Lee and Master Jo ensured that ALL the new members had some focus time, felt welcomed, felt supported, and encouraged. About midway through our trial month the kids tested for their white belts, and the official membership was discussed. This part of the process is a bit strange -- They don't advertise their membership prices/ options. Only master Lee discusses this with you in his office. You can't write anything down or take a picture. Why that is? I don't know. But the pricing is very reasonable compared to other TKD places and karate places we had spoken to previously. You have the option to choose between 2 classes a week or 3. We started off with 2 but ended up switching to 3 because I wanted my kid to have more practice and retention esp in the beginning. Not only are they teaching TKD basics, there's so many more principals that are taught. Listening, respect, focus, and confidence. Discipline of course. The studio/ dojo itself is very minimal. It's not a big fancy place. It's in a strip mall that I normally wouldn't go to, but none of that really matters bc of the actual teachings and learnings. Now, we've also witnessed Master Lee disciplining some of his more senior students - and I'm not sure if I agree with the style in which he does that. I'm not to judge bc maybe that works, that's why he has so many great students - but I do wish that he didn't do it in front of the younger kids? It's weird. He equally belittles the older students (like his protoge's) but he's so encouraging and supportive of the students too. lol it's interesting to witness but just something to note. Oh yes the only real concern I would flag is that -- I wish they would CLEAN THE DAMN MATS. Our kid leaves with black feet every time and it's gross esp when they do stretches and puts their face down on it (I've literally told my kid to never ever put his face on it) Anyways we love it here!

I have four TKD studios that are closer to my home, but after researching prices and observing adult and child classes in my area, I have to say Master Kim and his staff are some of the most kind, focused, and respectful instructors I have met. The children love his classes and activities as he keeps them engaged and having fun, while learning not only the physical aspects of TKD, but the tenants as well. Adult classes are challenging, great workouts, and the instructors focus on the individual - everything I look for. I have been training here for over 6 years, and monthly prices have never increased, no extra testing fees for colored belts, and you get everything you need for the monthly price including uniform and all belts up to recommended black. If you are a parent looking for a safe and encouraging place for your child to learn self confidence, respect, discipline, responsibility and self-control, you will not find better studio. If you are an adult looking to learn self-defense or just stay in shape, this is the school for you!

It's extremely well organized, and everyone there truly cares about the kids. The new owners, Sensei Quan and Sensei Butler, have taken the program to another level. They are dedicated, professional, and always quick to respond or accommodate whenever families need something. They push the kids to be their best while still keeping it fun and supportive. My daughter has grown so much in confidence and focus, and she's built a great group of friends through the program. The instructors have really helped toughen her up in the best way. She's more disciplined, responsible, and proud of her progress. If you're looking for a karate school that truly invests in your child's growth, both physically and mentally, MAI International Karate is the place to be. We're so thankful to be part of their community.

My kids l, and crazily enough, myself and I have loved the way the program is created and conducted for the students to be taught martial arts here at this dojo! If you're a parent like me, who wants their kid to be taught self defense but still very weary about the actual tournaments/sparring/etc say no more what I love about MAI is that all the senseis here have actual skills plus HEARTS! they hear us parents our with our annoying concerns and talk to our kids and build confidence, focus on building each skill-set, and not create competitive edge where it causes tension amongst the kids but camaraderie and real life skill sets on how to defend one's self in situations (which even I watch to pickup some moves haha). Now, keep in mind kids will be kids and you do have some sparring days that can be jarring, but again the senseis have all been there to be super supportive to make sure everyone feels safe! Besides regular lessons, they have awesome special field trip days, special ninja nights, and other fun activities! Highly recommend this dojo!
