I sent the below message a few days ago to the salon and no response was given. I had an apt for last Friday and they cancelled on me literally hours before my apt. I was flexible though and went for another stylist and later time. I really regret that now as I am really unhappy with my cut and style. Pam was my stylist and she didn't talk much about my hair. She didn't ask me how I wanted it styled at the end, and did not give me the cut I asked for. The communication was very poor and because of that I was left with not what I wanted and unhappy with the results. I understand things come up, but I feel I was a little pressured into last minute changing the time and stylist. I never have a negative experience here and my mother and I have been coming here for decades. I am just not happy with the cut or service. I tried talking more about my hair so we could get on the same page, and I am use to the stylist giving tips or asking more about my hair. We talked about short layers framing my face that stick out of the pony tail as well which is what I asked for, but that wasn't done either. I feel bad saying any of this as I have literally never been unhappy with my cut from any stylist at this salon. Im normally very relaxed as well, more attention is usually given to the shampoo and condition and maybe I am remembering incorrectly but a short scalp massage or something is given as well. read more

Highly recommend this salon and hair dresser, Heather ! I used to go to her at another salon and was happy with the results of my hair that I had to follow her at this new location and I'm so glad I did. Location: Easy to find in the heart of La Jolla near I-5. There is plenty of parking at the shopping strip and near other businesses like Whole Foods, Sephora, and CVS. It's a one-stop shop location which is super convenient! The salon is cute, modern, and inviting. There is a small waiting area and was well-organized and clean. Customer service: I was greeted upon arrival and offered a complimentary refreshment which was nice. The ladies here seemed very friendly, professional, and approachable. I instantly got good vibes! You can easily book online and I got a haircut from Heather. I showed her inspo-photos of a layered cut I wanted and she delivered. She cut an inch off, but trimmed all the dead ends. Called them on a Friday morning and managed to score a hair cut appointment that same day! After being greeted, I was offered tea or water, which was nice. I arrived early, so I did have to wait a bit in the waiting area, but I was comfortable. I wish I could remember the name of the lady who cut my hair, but she was awesome and really knowledgable on both the products she was using on me and about hair in general. I just needed my hair to be trimmed because of all the split ends and dry, dead ends, and I needed a refresh on the shape. The cut, blow dry, and shampoo cost an even $100 (not including tip). read more

This review has nothing to do with the person who cuts and colors my hair. She is amazing. Very detail oriented and very kind. She does a great job. It's the salon. I have been coming here for 6 years. I come every 5 - 6 weeks. In a year, that's about 9-10 times a year. My serivce went from $130 to $220, so that's around $2,000 a year I pay them. Again, I love the person who works on my hair. Out of the 6 years, I have only rescheduled my appointment 2 or 3 times. I always go. I make arrangements to get out of work to go, I cancel other plans when I get the reminder text, I GO when the appointment is. However, once I woke up with a migraine. My injection wasn't working so I went to urgent care and then to ER. My appointment was in the evening, so when I woke up with a headache, I called to reschedule. The other time a family member had a stroke and the family was all going to the hospital. BOTH times when I called to reschedule after explaining what happened, I was given a lecture about a 48 hour cancellation policy and how they were going to have to charge me since it wasn't over 48 hours. But, they were going to waive it this time. I don't have 48 hour notice when I'm going to wake up with a migraine. I don't have 48 hour notice when a family member is having a stroke or heart attack needing 5 stents. I have called within 30 hours notice, but they assured me the policy is 48 hours. I understand you're trying to keep the space filled, not pay for when a person has down time. I work for a service business, I understand when people no show or cancel. I get it. But this lecture just seems really too much especially when I am calling because something is going on. So the last time I got the lecture I just said I think I'm going to find somewhere else because god forbid there is some other last minute emergency and I have to reschedule I'm actually afraid to call, I want to avoid it because it's so unpleasant to get the stern nasty lecture from the front desk. I hate the idea of having to leave the person who does an EXCELLENT job on my hair because of this bullcrap but I guess I have to because this bullcrap feels worse. I'm really sorry that Young Attitudes decided to take this approach. It's always been such a pleasant and wonderful salon. But this makes going there feel untenable. read more

A little brighten up of the hair! It's very low maintenance, since I'm so active and don't want to spend $300/mo on my hair. I don't know the fancy names but it was a balayage blend and the dark brown is my natural color. I have a few grays now around my temples so she blended those in for me too. Heather was recently promoted, well deserved and is amazing!.‍ all of the stylists there are good, and come at a variety of prices. Highly recommend. First let me start off by saying I have had some fantastic haircuts here. Olivia is amazing and highly recommend her to anyone. Now the not so great... This salon has canceled my appointments last minute or moved me to another stylist who was not the same level of experience as my original appointment. Things happen, I get it. There is obviously no compensation for being cancelled on, but they make a point of sending a lot of texts saying you will be charged for not giving them enough notice. Anyway, as a result of one of the latest last minute cancellation calls I received, my first issue began. I had no choice but to go to the next available stylist that day because I didn't have time to book an appointment at another salon. The stylist was not the same level as the stylist that I normally see, and upon arrival I found out that I was moved to a third stylist as the original replacement also called out last minute. Since I was just getting a haircut, I decided to just go with it and hope for the best. The stylist I was placed with not only seemed agitated that I had brought pictures to help describe what I wanted my hair to look like, but then argued with me that what I was asking for was not what was shown in the picture and also assumed that the photo was of a well-known celebrity when it wasn't. Not that that should've mattered, but it was odd that they brought up a specific person that wasn't in the photo I showed them. Ultimately, I had asked for more of my hair to be trimmed than the stylist actually ended up trimming off because I stated that I wanted to have a little more time in-between maintenance. I ended up having to come back to have a "adjustment" and rather than them fixing the issue, they charged me for an additional service. This obviously should've been my last time going to the salon, but I had previously had very good experiences here so I decided to give them one more chance. I had been growing out my hair for quite a while, and it was very healthy. I booked an appointment for partial highlights and explained to the stylist that I wanted a very natural sun-kissed look with minimal damage. The salon also had notes on file of what I had discussed with my previous stylist, and I had expressed my concern as far as damaging my hair with products. I was assured that they were able to add lighter highlights without damaging the integrity of my hair overall. Upon arriving to my appointment, the stylist immediately said that I needed to change my service to a $300 service and that she would no longer have time to complete my full service that day. I explained that I had a very important work meeting coming up and my main priority was to get my hair cut so that I was able to feel confident and look presentable for this meeting. I was pressured into staying to have the color service done despite explaining that my priority was to get the cut and was assured that I could come back to have the haircut another day. I stated I would have preferred to come back for the color as the priority was the cut. This would have also given more time to make sure we were on the same page for the color. I realize now that I should've got up and left immediately, but once again decided to continue with the service. Prior to beginning, I stated multiple times that the reason I had asked for partial highlights was because I did not want every strand to receive bleach. I only wanted the top layer to be colored and I wanted minimal damage. The stylist spent several hours with me, despite indicating that I had limited time and needed to get back to work following the appointment. All good had I gotten what I asked and paid for. Quality work does take time. When it came time to rinse out the product, my hair was extremely tangled and they forcefully brushed through my hair and I could hear it breaking as they were trying to detangle it. The stylist even stated they were "trying to hurry to detangle so they could add toner". Undoubtedly because they were in a rush as it was getting very late in the day. I ultimately left with the entire lower half of my hair extremely bleached and very brittle due to the amount of product that was used, and the amount oftime that the product was left on my hair; combined with the forceful detangling process. It doesn't look natural at all -- the toner left it very yellow. When I arrived at the salon, I had more than enough healthy dark hair to create contrast with the lighter highlights and will now have to spend several hundred dollars to fix this issue and wait a year or more for it to grow out again. The worst part of the experience was that the stylist did not cut the hair prior to using the product on it which I requested multiple times. They ended up charging me and reminding me that there was a charge for every ounce of the product that would be used as to avoid waste. Had my hair been cut first as requested, I wouldn't have wasted $$. read more

Tried out this place because it's close to my house. Let's start with setting up the appointment. I tried makinf an appointment via their website. But it was too confusing. So, I called instead and the person on the phone explained that each price varies, depending on their expertise. She was very patient in explaining it to me and offered to set up my appointment for me and I accepted. They sent me a text the day before to confirm my appointment. That's always a nice reminder Day of my appointment, Receptionist checked me in. Very nice and friendly. That's always a bonus in my opinion as they are what sets the first impression. If they were not friendly, it sets the tone of the salon experience. Chelsea, my stylist greeted and seated me to her station. She asked what I wanted and gave me a quote before she started. That's always nice so that there are no surprises when it's time to pay. What I asked for? Highlights that can camouflage the grays and a trim. Chelsea was very sweet and love that she has gentle hands. A lot of stylist I've been to tug and scratch and makes the experience uncomfortable. I love her scalp massages. End results, it looked great and was happy. When I got home, I realized that my hair was a little lighter than what I expected. Maybe I just need to get used to it. But what I love about my hair is the way it was blended, which makes the fact that it's light less noticeable. I will definitely go back to this salon and see Chelsea again. read more

Run! The service here is horrible. On Sunday, they canceled my appointment after I arrived on site- while the stylist was standing in front of me with another customer! I had scheduled a blowout today with a different stylist for a special family photo session, and they canceled again - leaving us with 2 hours to find a solution. Hi Erica, I was expecting a call from you today which I didn't receive, so it seems I need to follow up here. Nowhere in your response you acknowledged the terrible result you can see in the pictures, instead you blame your client why she didn't complain at the check out! And say how wonderful your nail technician is!! It was 6:30 pm, you had closed down the salon and all your colleagues were gone, just one person was at the front desk to have me pay and leave. What would that change and how would you make it right had I complained to your cashier?! Your technician used an electric machine all over the dry skin around the nails, it hurt and I even asked her why at least she doesn't use a drop of coticule remover to make it softer, if not soaking my fingers in water. She simply replied she knew what she was doing, and resulted in leaving scars on my finger tips and not having my coticules removed completely in a straight line. Got a last minute men's trim today from their barber, Gio. Definitely on the pricier side for a men's trim but this dude knows what's up. Professional, kind and super knowledgeable, Gio paid close attention to detail and let me have control over every step, which is something I feel is rare in a lot of shops. He took the time to make sure I felt comfortable with how the cut was looking every so often, which in turn made me feel secure and relaxed. He knew a lot about hair and the ergonomics of a cut. Nice conversations made the time go by fast. He also lint rolled my shirt himself before I got out of the chair haha! This guy rocks. I love my cut. I will definitely be booking with him again.
