During my next visit, I was recommended to try hard gel, but within just five days, two nails were already chipping. Jayda does an incredible job every single time and she always manages to make my nails look exactly how I wanted them. My acrylic set has lasted 6 weeks (and still looked amazing -- no chipped or lifted nails), and my Gel X set lasted 4 weeks (and could still last longer but I had an event and wanted a different color). Anna aka "Moon" is the best nail tech Ive ever had in 39 years of living. SN: Lily is amazing and does nails extremely well too! But besides them, no one has ever given me perfection of my nails quite like Anna. I have bigger nail beds in that they curve down deeper on the sides so it takes extra care to be able to do my nails and make them skinny and sharp and pretty and not look big.... I am very specific about it and I will tip very well to have a nail tech who listens and doesnt get rude and act annoyed when I ask for extra attention to that detail like almost all of them historically will do -- i dont mean at Radiance, i just mean in general. Ive had some techs come close but I still end up having to file my nails on the sides when I get home to get them as skinny as I want them to look. Anna just did a set on me that is absolutely flawless. I didn't need to file them at alllll and they are thin (not bulky) and sharp and look absolutely fire. I don't recommend this place. It's not that the shop lacks color options -- the problem was that the lady (Sydney) made no effort to find a shade close to the photo I showed her or to communicate with me to make sure I was satisfied. Instead, she simply said my nails were too short for a gradation and that they didn't have the color, but they had "pink." That was basically all she said. There was no attempt to match the color, no suggestions, and no effort to understand what I wanted. Her attitude was very blunt, and she didn't seem interested in my preferences at all. She kept speaking in her own language to someone else instead of paying attention to me, which made her seem unprofessional. She charged me an extra $15 for an awful airbrush color that didn't look like peach at all. I still tipped her, but this experience was very disappointing, and I won't be returning here again I enjoyed talking to the guy(owner maybe..) from the reception and he assigned a lady who can do the design last time and I liked the result, but the attitude Sydney holds today is not likeable toward customer. read more

It seemed like she didn't want to do any of it, telling me to only pick a few colors and no gems. I wasn't aware I was limited to that after being told by front desk that it was okay. I also said that it didn't have to be exact just something similar. I loved the colors but it looked very unfinished. After mentioning the fact that I wanted gems, Emily was very annoyed of my request. I felt unwelcomed and a burden to the point I just wanted to take off the nails and cry. I went to this salon for the first time last week and the nail lady ( I forgot who) shaved my nails down so so thin and I didn't even realize till after she did it. My nails bent really easily and I had to trim my nails afterwards because I couldn't really use my nails for anything without it hurting. One week in, two of my nails chipped in half. I'm really upset because my nail growth has been reset. Also I just think the gel colors here look like nail polish and not gel polish. Not a great selection, super small. I came in to get an acrylic set done for my birthday tomorrow and it is probably one of the best sets I've ever gotten!! My nail artist (I'm pretty sure her name is Sydney, but I could be wrong) did such an amazing job. She took so much time and care into making the set even and polished, and the artwork couldn't have been more perfect. It was a bit pricey, but in my opinion it was worth it, they are exactly what I wanted. Everyone working there were very communicative and I really appreciated their transparency, especially in their pricing. I really appreciated how I was given an exact price for my set before we started, after talking about what I wanted to get done (patterns, colors, etc.) I'm so pleased with my experience and I have not been able to stop staring at my nails since I left the salon! Jayda, this is simply not true. If I had any uplifting of any nail, it would have been minor enough to simply repair. Your technician fabricated, after ripping off a few nails "Ah, see? Bacteria!". Like I explained, what she saw was the damage done to the fragile upper layer of my nails when the artificial ones were removed. Again, I am well aware of what fungus ("bacteria" can not be seen with the naked eye) looks like--I had none nor was in danger of getting any. Your tech got me in the chair & proceeded to remove my nails--I had no choice at that point & she knew it. I do not want to receive additional responses. read more

This place is a rip off! Go somewhere else and you'll get what you pay for. I moved to San Diego a couple of months ago and was in desperate need of a good nail salon, so I decided to give this place a try. I went in and asked for a simple French manicure with chrome, which they said would cost $55. I agreed and let them start. However, as the lady was filing my nails, I started feeling uneasy because it was clear they were talking about me in their language. I decided to change my service to a simple nude color with chrome and asked how much it would be. To my surprise, the lady said it would be $5 extra. I was confused because I had just downgraded to a much simpler design, which should require less work. Then I asked for a cuticle cleanup, and she said it would be $10 more. On top of that, she claimed she needed to "fix" one of my nails and charged me $5 extra, even though the nail wasn't broken--just slightly chipped at the top. She treated it the same way as the other nails, applying powder the same way, so I didn't understand the extra charge. By the time I left, I honestly hated how my nails looked. I didn't want to be rude, especially since the lady doing my nails was elderly, but the experience was really disappointing. The service wasn't good, the people weren't friendly, and it felt like they only cared about squeezing as much money as possible out of me. As someone new to the area looking for a reliable nail salon, this place was a huge letdown. I have been here for a couple months and heard about other salons that are better. I did not go back to this place and I don't plan on ever going back. Save your money and time!! read more

It is always a pleasure when businesses listen to their customers' feedback and Radiance is definitely one of those places. I had an unfortunate situation where technician denied any nail art a month ago but Jayda, the owner, was very quick to respond and rectify the issue. I was able to come back, get super cute design done (going to week three now and still no chip, *knock on the wood*) and left happy after. If you do plan on getting any nail art done make sure to specify that in your request so salon can assure you get an appropriate tech who can do it for you. I don't know if they are now under new ownership, or if they just changed their look completely, but both my wife and I love this place. They are professional, friendly, and the pedicures are amazing. I have seen a good make sure about men and women inside the shop, which isn't always the case at salons like this. I am really loving the cleaner look and feel they have put in place. I feel for what you get, the price is really good, and I like the fact that I can either hold a conversation, or just completely spaced out on my phone during the pedicure and they're completely OK with it. So often at pedicure places the language barrier can be tough but everyone I have come across here speaks great English, and if not, always gets help from one of their coworkers who does. On a personal note, I have an ingrown toenail and they are always so careful to work around it and I really appreciate that because I had a bad experience once that made it even worse. The fact that this place is right across the street from where we live makes it even better. I always look forward to going. As a matter fact, writing this review makes me want to go back today. LOL. TL;DR: they tried to over charge me for slop work. I won't be back. Also, Yelp won't let me give zero stars, which is what was earned. I needed to get gel nails removed, called to see if they did that and the cost. I was informed that yes, they can do that and the cost would be $15. I clarified that I would like a treatment for my hands, like a paraffin dip, to help the nails recover and did they do something like that and how much would that be? It was reiterated that it would be $15. I made an appointment and arrived a few minutes prior to my appointment time. After waiting about ten minutes into my appointment time, I was told to sit at a nail station. When the lady finally made her way over to me, she said, "ok, you are here for gel nails?" To which I responded, "no, I am here to have gel nails removed and a hand treatment." She exchanged some words with the man at the desk (not in English), then sighed loudly, and walked away. I continued sitting there. She returned, looking disappointed to see me still sitting there, then sat down and roughly grabbed my hand and began hastily clipping off the length of the gel nails with scissors. Once she cleared my hand, she produced a condiment cup with clear liquid and told me to bring my fingers together in a point and put them into the cup. They did not fit comfortably or well. Then she did the same to my other hand and walked away. She was gone about 10 minutes as my finger tips soaked in what I later learned was 100% acetone. When she came back, she used a Dremel tool to remove some of the gel. Then she put a lot of mineral oil on my hands and told me to wash them at the sink. When I returned to the nail station, she laughed at me and said, "you're done! Leave." A bit shocked, I asked about the hand treatment and she said I was done. So I went up to the counter to pay and leave (I didn't really feel welcome when I arrived and by this point, I felt it was clear I was not welcome). The man said it would be a higher cost than what I had initially been told. I said as much, that I had been told $15. He exchanged some shouting with the tech who was in the back, then told me to just give him $20 and that would be fine. I told him I had been told $15, so if he was now charging me $20, then I did not have a tip for his technician, handed the bill over and left. There was gel stuck to my fingertips, my nails had been cut so poorly, and I had to spend an additional 30min at home to fix the slop work they did.
