I love my haircut, hairstyle, hair color and highlights, I am very impressed with my new looks. I love you Nicki, you are the best hairstyle ‍ I never had. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding, God's bless you all the time.

I contacted Niurka (Nikki) after receiving a promotion through my apartment complex (La Jolla Crossroads). Nikki was able to get me in quickly in her schedule. She gave me highlights and they are absolutely beautiful! They're super light but very natural looking. She was super professional and friendly... truly a lovely woman! I was a little nervous to see someone new but she made me feel very comfortable. Her prices were very reasonable and she was very up front about pricing which I always appreciate. I would recommend her to anyone. Thanks, Niurka!

I have gone to Studio V twice now, once for a haircut and once for a balayage hair color, both with Rayna, and I absolutely LOVE it!!! I've lived in San Diego for about three years now and have struggled to find a good hairstylist because my hairstylist back home has been cutting/styling my hair for over 20 years now. Went to a couple different places with little to no success. Decided on a whim to join a friend who gets her services through Rayna, and I'm SO happy I did! Rayna was knowledgeable, so easy to talk to and laugh with, and really took great care of me and of my hair--checking in with me throughout the process, making sure I was comfortable with plenty of magazines and water, and even letting me borrow her personal phone charger when my phone was dying! Will most definitely be back! If you decide to go here, ask for Rayna! You won't be disappointed :)

Love coming here! Everyone is so kind and inviting. I came to Regina with the hopes of transforming my hair from dark brown to blonde! She worked magic on my hair!!! The color is exactly what I asked for and more! She even went to the extent of recommending me new great vegan products to keep my hair staying happy and healthy! I have lots of respect for what they do here at this salon. Would definitely recommend.

Haircut and dye done by Niurka! Such an amazing job and she was so nice to talk too. Gave exactly what I asked for.

Heidi did highlights & low lights and styled my hair. It came out amazing!

Got my hair colored by Heidi & she did an incredible job. I had been so frustrated about getting color done in the past at other places only for my hair to look awful in a week or 2 when my grays started showing. Heidi advised me to not only get more highlights but to get a different tone that blended with my grays better and my skin tone. It looked so good how she did it & I've gotten so many compliments. She really is an expert with hair color. Thank you!

At long last the UCSD Farmer's Market is back!…read more A few things have changed since its last iteration from before Covid. First, and most obvious is the location. Before, it was located at UCSD's Town Square, which I thought was pretty inaccessible for non-students. Now, it's located at the Epstein Family Amphitheatre, which is conveniently located next to the UCSD Central Campus Trolley Station and the Gilman Parking Structure. It's a really beautiful setup, with plenty of outdoor seating, whether you want to sit at the lawn, the various tables and chairs, or even the amphiteatre seating itself. There were a few vendors that have usually set up at the market, including House of Bao, Bubbas Hawaiian Snack Shack, Belinda's Familia, Seb Panini and a Sambusa place. I think it's a pretty good lineup, but I noticed the items are very expensive. Further, the selection outside of prepared foods was pretty lacking. There was a florist, but I think more fresh fruit and vegetable options (that accept EBT!) would have elevated the experience and helped with the food insecurity issues that plague college campuses. I ended up visiting Belinda's, where I was enticed by some free samples. I had a chorizo egg burrito, which I thought was really good and a deal for $10! Overall, I think the return of the farmer's market is a net positive for the community! I visited on re-opening day, so I think a couple more weeks will help iron out the selection and variety issues!

WHOLE FOODS MARKET @ LA JOLLA VILLAGE…read more Whole Foods is one of my favorite grocery stores for snacks, fresh produce, and healthier food options. This location is in La Jolla Village, about a 10 minute drive from UTC. Parking is available right out front, but since it is located in a shopping plaza with several other restaurants and stores, the parking lot can definitely get busy. I usually come here during the weekdays, and surprisingly it is still pretty crowded around 1:00 PM. Even with how busy it gets, the store is always very organized, clean, and well stocked. I rarely have trouble finding what I need because the staff are constantly restocking the shelves. One thing I really like about this location is that it also has Amazon returns, which makes it super convenient if you need to drop off a package while grocery shopping. Some of my favorite items to buy here are the Simple Mills crackers. They are gluten free, made with simple ingredients, and taste so much better than a lot of processed crackers. I also love shopping for their fresh produce because they offer a great selection, including produce from local farms, which is always nice to see. Overall, I would definitely keep coming back to this Whole Foods. The staff are always friendly and helpful, the store is clean and organized, and they have a great variety of high quality groceries and healthier food options.

Love the Whole Foods bakery, they have all sorts of sizes for the desserts. Like for the tres leches, they have a family size and individual size. On Fridays, the family size cakes are $10 so a great deal! I also like their fruit tart, which also comes in small (bite size), medium (4 inch), and larger sizes. You honestly can't go wrong with any of those bakery items. I also love their hot bar, ~$12 per pound. There are always a variety of options, usually I see tikka masala, chicken tenders, rice, samosas. I usually add some of the premade salads from the cold bar too. Just have to be careful as it is easy to get carried away and get TOO much food, lol. Some items can taste a bit dry (since they sit on the hot bar all day), but for the most part, it's a solid quick meal. Note they may put away the hot bar a bit earlier than close so you might not catch it if you come too late.

From delicious food, to fresh produce, to the most gorgeous and vibrant flowers, to beautiful pottery, to unique clothes... you name it, they have it there! Make sure to come early as parking can be a bit tricky, especially if you want to park closer to the farmers' market. Once you get parked though, everything is a breeze. They even have tables and chairs around for people to eat at. There's also a playground for families who have little ones! I could never go to a farmers' market and leave without fresh flowers, so of course I had to pick up some from Hidalgo Flowers. They always have the most colorful and stunning arrangements, and for a decent price too. This time, I got a bunch with the prettiest sunflowers. We also picked up the sweetest and reddest strawberries from this one vendor. I highly regret not getting their name, but I will definitely be on the hunt for them the minute we go back. We got a cup of strawberries with some dark chocolate sauce from Strawberries and Chocolate. That was sooo good! We devoured it so quickly, we didn't even get to take a picture of it. One of the standouts for me was the Pork Sisig Rice from Baryo Eats. It was AHHHHMAZING!! It's the best kind of pork sisig that I love to eat--the taste was so good and nostalgic, it took me back to my college days back in the Philippines! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We also got some Paella from Driana Catering/Taste of Spain. It was so flavorful and the rice was cooked to perfection. We were just sad they ran out of shrimp by the time we got some, so we were left with chicken only. We got some goodies from It's Cafe Thai as well--Milk Tea with Boba, Taro Thai Coffee, and the Mango Sticky Rice. All of them had just the right amount of sweetness and hit the spot for us. Lastly, we had some of the watermelon and the cucumber lemonade refreshers, and the chicken and pork tamales from Gourmet Tamales. They were so good, we even took some home for later! Overall, I'm already looking forward to the next Sunday we can stop by this farmers' market!

They are usually kept in the refrigerated section of the stores that carry them. But I have to give them a low rating because of contamination. I bought a box of mixed flavors form Costco and while my wife was eating one, she almost threw up and passed out. She bit into a furry wad and thought it was initially a rat pelt. After I had listened to her near hysteria, I decided to further dissect the item and look into what it was. It seemed to be a wad of cotton which somehow accidentally made it into the product. I immediately contacted the company and their receptionist apologized profusely, stating that she would pass the info on to their quality manager, and then get back to me. Well, the receptionist called me back and stated that they would offer me refund or replacement. I opted for the replacement and 4 bars were shipped via Fedex overnight. But what I really found disappointing was that I was told that they had other incidences and the culprit was a cotton towel that somehow managed to get their batch contaminated. I received no apologies from anyone in management - it was the receptionist who communicated everything to me. Of course, in hindsight, it all seems innocuous, but at the time it happened, my wife thought she bit into a piece of fur! The whole way the company seemed so blase about everything really started to disturb me. They did not even issue a recall. I did not receive any call from the Quality Manager, or anyone in management. Which leads me to believe that they don't care at all about their customers or the quality of their product. How much effort does it take for someone in management to call me to apologize? Apparently too much effort for them.
