Not a fan of my gel manicure. It took about 20 minutes total to complete, felt very rushed and there was minimal attention to detail. I do not usually leave reviews, but I need to for my experiences here this year and last. I have been going to this business for at least 10 years if not longer. I always loved going to this salon as the experience was top notch and the work was always perfect. Last year during the summer I went for a regular manicure for a wedding. While I was at the wedding (the afternoon of the day I had the manicure) the nail polish was falling off my nails. I think they either forgot the base coat or put the topcoat for the base. So, I ended up having some nails painted and some not for the wedding. I also went for a special pedicure and a gel nail manicure before I went on vacation last year. I had to go back twice to get the gel nails repaired because they were peeling (this was within two days - gel nails should last at the minimum two weeks.) Also, the special pedicure is supposed to include a back and shoulder massage. I received no back and shoulder massage. It was later in the day and the nail tech was getting ready to finish her shift, so she rushed through putting the polish on the toes and they smudged twice. They didn't reduce the price for not having all the services done. For both services it cost me around $100. After vacation I went back and had a regular manicure. Again, the polish came off in less than a day and I had to go back to have it repaired. The owner told me that regular nail polish "doesn't last". I responded that it should last more than 24 hours. The nail tech told me that is why I should "get gel nails". I responded why they cost more and the ones you put on still chipped. I decided to give them another chance this summer. I went for a special pedicure and a regular manicure in March and the nail tech took her time and they both came out beautifully. I went back in June and again the service was awful, and the special pedicure and manicure were awful. On top of it the nail tech did not smile once and seemed annoyed to have to complete the service. She used the cuticle trimmer to cut down my toes instead of the nail clipper and the toe nails were not even. She did not put enough cotton in between the toes and the toes smudged twice while drying and she was annoyed she had to fix them. Again, the two services cost about $76.00 I went back yesterday for a simple manicure because my daughter was going to have her nails done. Again, no neck and shoulder massage. I had to ask for the hot wax treatment. They did not use the heated gloves, but simply threw a hot towel over my hands while the wax on. As a result, the wax did not melt, and she couldn't get it off. She left wax all over my nails and started the manicure. She missed the base coat on some nails, did not put two coats on some and there were spots where you could still see my nails. While they were drying, I looked at the nails and they were awful. I asked the manager if they could fix some of the nails and her responded in a not friendly tone "what happened". Then waved me over to near her seat without showing me where to sit and seemed annoyed they had to be fixed as if I had messed them up. The girl had to take all the polish off and redo the nails and while doing it blamed it on the nail polish. Today is the next day and the nails are already peeling. You need to have qualified nail techs not just people off the street to complete the services if you are going to charge top dollar. The salon is also not as clean as it used to be. read more

I have been going to You Got Nails since they opened. I have been nothing but pleased with the services I have received. On occasion, I have popped in because I had let my nails go too long and just needed them removed. No judgement on their part. Joon is wonderful at accommodating my crazy schedule and ALL of the nail technicians have treated me with kindness and respect. Lee was MY tech for 17 years - I miss her but Kyle picked up right where she left off. If Kyle stays another 17 years, I can easily see myself there another 17 years with him! This is now my go- to nail salon. The employees are all very kind. I like going somewhere and having a nice conversation with my nail tech. It's very clean, I came first thing in the morning and everyone was cleaning/ re- stocking everything. I think the prices represent the quality of your experience. I don't get my nails done often, but I'm glad I did today- I had Juliana (I hope that's how she spells it) and she was great. **Update- just paid $31 for a gel manicure that took all of 10 minutes for the nail tech to do. I didn't receive half of the treatment I usually do, and I'm very disappointed. There is gel polish all over my skin and the polish is covered in bubbles. I'm in sales and people look at my hands.. tomorrow is a big day for me and I'm debating on going somewhere else to have this fixed. read more

I witnessed the owner step in and assist several technicians numerous times not because they needed help but to ensure everyone was taken care of in a timely manner. Warm, friendly atmosphere. Cathy and Stacy were very cognizant of our comfort. The Spa Pedicure was absolutely lovely. From our necks to our shoulders and down our arms with warm lotion and towels a truly heavenly massage. Then our legs and feet were were treated to a warm stone massage. Originally I wrote a negative review, because the night of my wedding my nail broke and I had a reaction to the UV. I was upset. However, after speaking with the owner, he made sure I was well taken care of, my nails were fixed for free, and they used a lower UV for me so I didn't have a reaction. In my other experiences, most salons tend to blame the customer, so I assumed that would be the same here. I was wrong. I think it was a random thing where my nail beds were probably too brittle to hold the nails. So far so good after a couple of days. I highly recommend this place not only for their work but most of all their great hospitality and genuine care for their customers. I have been going to this salon for years-it is convenient but the service is painfully uneven. Some days I leave with great nails, some days I just leave. I went in for a mani/pedi and all was going well until 2 girls walked in and wanted pedis. The female manager came over and said she'd "finish" me. She painted my toe nails and buffed my fingernails -for an extra charge- while the man who had been doing my pedi went on to one of the new customers. When i got home I noticed that she had only painted the tops of my nails, not the sides. A couple days ago I walked in-the 3 girls working each had a customer-a man who I am guessing was the manager asked me to wait a "few minutes" so I sat and watched every woman who had been getting a pedi came over for their manis. Excellent nail salon! I'm visiting from Los Angeles and I got the special pedicure, $20 more than their regular $28 pedicure. You GET SO MUCH for the extra money. Many hot towels for my back, extra scrubs, paraffin, massage, and TLC. Totally worth it. The salon is large, clean, and welcoming. There were three of us and we were seated immediately. We finished at different times. My pedicurist, Ann , was an angel. She really pampered me. I also really liked the nail drying bar where we could sit together and relax while our nails dried. I don't like having to wait for my nails to dry and feel like other customers need to take my spot. If I move to this area I will make this my regular salon. OMG! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! I've been all over CT trying to find the perfect pedicure place that is clean and classy! I walked into "you got nails" and immediately fell in love! They used a gel crystal soak(I've never seen or heard of before) I also got warm towels wrapped around my legs along with a pomegranate leg mask. It was spectacular. They massaged my legs and hands and gave me a full body massage in my pedicure chair with a warm towel. Everything was so relaxing and overall a wonderful experience. Are the nail implements sterilized? Is your nail technician of a high skill level? Is the environment relaxed, clean and inviting? Is the staff courteous? These are the top four questions you should ask before choosing a nail salon. I would like to say that I have found this in Peter of You Got Nails in Wallingford. First of all, let me just say that when it comes to my hands, and me spending roughly $50.00 (plus tip) every two weeks - to keep them maintained... I shudder to think that I would have to settle for less. I have had horrible experiences with nails that look like they belonged to Godzilla (misshapen or too thick), or cuticles that were trimmed too short (can you say infection?) or barely touched at all. Or how about the nail tech that spent more time taking the polish off of the perimeter of my nails than putting it where it was supposed to be... Similarly, like most of us feel with our hairdressers - I would follow my nail tech to the end of the earth (or at least the state lines) to get the consistent quality he provides. Let's face it, when you've found the right fit wear it! Right? Peter is just the right fit. In the past 4 1/2 years I have followed him to not one - but four salons ranging in distance 10 to 20 miles from my home. Remember, I said I would travel further; all because he is an expert at gel nails and managing my "used to be" unruly cuticles. When your tech does your nails, do they look thick and unnatural? Or do they just look like the perfect version of your nails? Mine look like the latter. Not only is the shape just right, but the paint job is too! In conclusion, Peter is meticulous! He will not let you eat or touch anything other than his nail table while he is rounding the final corners of your service. He will insist that you keep your nails away from any dust or oils (your face, chin or hair?) while he is painting them. The result is a phenomenal outcome that I hope you will have the pleasure of experiencing. The bonus here is that his neck and back massage will leave you wanting more... Trust Me! Try it! Never coming back here every again. My friend and I made an appointment 2 days before for 2 pm. We got there right at 2 and they took my friend right away. It was 2:45 and I was still waiting to be taken. Ridiculous and unprofessional. People make appointments for a reason. I have stuff to do I can't wait all day. Then when I said sorry I'm not getting them done the man was rude and annoyed with me. As for my friend, they charged her $50 for a fill!!! Never going back. I usually go up the street to Green Tea nails, but I had a coupon for $2 off a mani at this place. I wish I had stuck to Green Tea. I was there on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30. The place was dead, I was the only one there. YGN has a great selection of colors, is a beautiful salon, and includes a paraffin dip. HOWEVER, the woman who did my nails, while very nice, was not skilled. She took forever to apply the polish, and had to fix mistakes multiple times. That was in between comments on my color choice - she didn't like it. My cuticles were not trimmed properly and I have little hangnails now (its been two days). My nails were not filed evenly or cut the same length - some corners are rounded, some are still as they were cut. I saw the first chip in the polish Wednesday morning (less than 24 hours) and have two more fingers chipped today (36 hours after the manicure). I will NOT be back to this salon, it is not worth my time and money. read more

Salon is clean but I've never experienced such slow service at a salon. Went for a powder manicure and it took 1 hour and 40 minutes to have my powder removed and the new put on. I left before they even completed the manicure and paraffin because it had taken so unbelievably long. The salon is overbooked at all times and the workers are inattentive they spend their time chatting amongst each other which takes away and slows down your manicure. The owner/manager at the front is very rude. This is the most I've paid for a powder manicure at $40 to have such terrible service and waste so much time to not even complete my manicure. I used to go here to get my acrylics done every 2 weeks. They had a special technician that remembered me every time I went. Everyone is very nice and they are great at making conversation. They usually have several people working at a time, I've never seen anyone that had to wait a while to get their nails done. I would call an make an appointment the day before just because they can get busy. The salon also has a good variety of nail polishes. I don't go here as much anymore because the prices are quite expensive. Also they give you a small back rub at the end which kind of freaked me out a bit. read more

This is an absolutely fabulous salon. I was in town for meetings and needed an acrylic fill. Many shops did not do acrylic. These folks were very accommodating.
