I had been researching different reviews and I came across a review on Kara's page that spoke to me. I decided to call Kara and ask to do a consultation. I met with her and I shared my frustrations and communicated what I wanted. Kara was honest and told me what she could do to correct what the previous stylist had done to my hair. I loved her honesty and I decided to make the switch. I know it's going to take some time to get my hair to where I want it to be but I do know that I'm in good hands. I am happy to say though, I no longer have a mullet. Yay!

I've been getting my hair cut by her for years (with my first cut in her kitchen). So needless to…read moresay, Meli is amazing. I'm super picky about my hair stylist. Not that my style is elaborate or anything but my hair is my favorite physical attribute so I don't trust my hair cuts to just anyone. Ok!! I don't skimp out on hair cut prices either so if you want an cheap hair cut, don't come to this salon. But ladies, let's be real. You spend $50-100 on a pair of shoes that you wear maybe once a week or in some cases once a month or a few times a year... But you want to get cheap on your hair, which you wear every day!!?? Pick your priorities lol Anyway, this is not a lecture... So... I was a virgin to hair color and smoothing treatment until Meli. I grew up promising myself I would never treat my hair w dyes or chemicals because I was blessed with gorgeous red hair from birth. Buuuutttt thanks to the birth of my own children (and the momentous dirty 30), I started to lose the natural luster in my natural red hair. It started turning brown. Ugh! Oh, so sad. So sad. So, Meli convinced me to try a glaze color treatment. She said it's not like regular dye, because the color fades out evenly over time so it doesn't look like a dye job (no roots). So after some heart to hearts and some trust exercises (wink wink) I finally took the leap and replenished my hair to its youthful vigor. And I'm so glad I did!! I also tried the keratin smoothing treatment. I'm posting the before (natural wavy and faded color tint from a few months ago) next to the fresh cut and keratin smoothing treatment and refreshed glaze. Nice huh? Oh, and let me talk about the smoothing treatment. Meli takes her time and does a super good job. She's a perfectionist and she cares about the long term wear and effects of her work. It took her three hours to do the smoothing treatment because she carefully and painstakingly straitened my hair in thin two to three inch pieces at a time. Omg. You can't find a deal like that on groupon... Ok!!! Lol. But don't take my word for it. Go see Meli and Meli's Beauty Bar. You'll see :) Meli's Beauty Bar is SO CUTE BTW! Her good style sense comes through in everything she does! She has cute comfy chairs, refreshments, wine and champagne, chocolate goodies, scented candles, music and the cutest decor. I love my beauty time w Meli. Xoxo

Blame self.  THE EXPERIENCE WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! Brii and the salon has forever ruined me for any other salon experience. Here's how it went... Walked into a peaceful salon with an undeniable warmth Offered snack and water, as if I was a kid coming home from school Brii asked me questions and would only move forward with cut when I (me!) was clear about what I wanted.  I've never loved a cut so much, it feels as unique as my fingerprint and I'm so grateful!  Brii has this incredible ability to create a space of safety, ease, creativity and play.  I was so grateful that my 8 year old was there to see me have an experience like this and to set the tone for what she should expect whenever she gets her hair cut.  For anyone feeling unseen, unheard, invisible, etc in the salon chair - head over to Brii and let her help bring YOU out.
