This review is long overdue and that's partly because....I forgot. I was scrolling yelp and IG to look for a hairstylist. I was not happy with the last two I went to. I felt unheard and then literally went unheard when one of them did not text me back. Anyway! I found Amethyst Rose Salon on Ig and then checked them out on yelp. I booked an appointment with Madeline due to their schedule/availability and was really excited for my appointment. I get my haircut only once a year and that happens to be on my birthday. During my season of grief, I wanted to make sure I spent my new year taking care of myself the only way I knew how. Treatments! I told Madeline what I wanted: Long curtain bangs, long layers (rounded and not cut into a V) with the shortest layer at my shoulder. Ask and you shall receive. Madeline did the damn thing. While booking, they ask to fill out a questionnaire to have a better understanding of your goals and also has the option to upload photos of your current hair and inspiration pictures. So happy to have found Amethyst Rose Salon! I've tried several salons in San Diego that have butchered my textured hair and overcharged. I did the consult with Amy and she asked me a lot of questions and was very attentive to my answers. I also filled out a preliminary form asking about what I wanted and allowing to upload pics of my current hair and one of my "hair goals." The day of my appointment, Amy cut my curly hair so that I could style it natural or heat style it. It felt much thicker and healthier. She was also able to tone my hair so that we could match the mids and ends to my roots. The vibe of the salon is gothic-girly and it was such a treat to relax and enjoy myself.
