First, let me start by saying I lost the keys to my mailbox at my building. Went to York and they said they would have to give me a new lock with new keys. The lock they gave me was wrong. It was too big and when I went back the manager was not there, so this other guy that I spoke to, couldn't have been less helpful, dismissive, unprofessional, and basically did not care one way or another if I came back or not. He just kept saying you'll have to talk to my Manager, but I don't know what he can do. Oh then said I will go somewhere else and he said "ok. Have a good day." Needless to say, I will not be going back there. Or would I recommend them. read more

They came and lock at the job we're supposed to give an estimate and they never send it. I went back to their office and they promise to send it and they didn't. I had been their customers for more than 30 yrs but now i am very disappointed read more

I am happy to have a reliable locksmith in my area. I have been able to help properties, friends, and family when they have been locked out of their cars or their homes. York Lock & Key offers reasonable prices, their response time is fast, and their technicians are very knowledgeable and professional. I know I can count on them every time, plus they have other services that can help protect your assets and deter any losses using video surveillance and state of the art access control systems. Thank you York Lock & Key! read more

York Lock & Key - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Miami Beach, Florida

Wow, feels horrible to write this. I've been doing business with them for over a decade. And I've had hundreds of apartment units in their hands, but no more. I contracted them to install a gate lock at one of our buildings and told them it was no rush. We agreed on $150 for install, the following day I get a rambling message from an installer about issues with the install. York installed the previous lock, how could this be......after multiple messages about problems with the install. I get a message from the installer about writing a personal check to him or giving him cash $285.......he claimed it was overtime. What? It's very sad to have to end a relationship with a business you trusted for over a decade. I'm done, next! read more

It's with sadness that I write this review, because been doing business with these company for more than 10 years, but service has been in decline to the point that they just don't return calls, don't follow up on orders. The staff at the store is nice, but the technicians just don't care about the customers. The last two service calls in the past weeks were just ignored at the point I have to call other people. Won't be calling this people anymore. read more

So neat! The guy who helped me out was so attentive and kind. I needed two copies of my house key. It cost $2.50 for each (which isn't bad at all), and the keys were ready in less than 2 minutes. Despite there being lots of stuff, the place was very organized and the staff were very attentive to everyone who walked in while I was there. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this local company. Jimmy was exceptional in every way. I called them for an emergency jam and after they easily took care of the jam they offered solutions to other areas I hadn't event considered. Jimmy was a true professional in his skill and knowledge .. but most importantly and rare.. in dealing with customers. I recommend with confidence. read more

Awesome service and staff, I always go here to get copies of keys done. Staff is quick to guide you with your needs.

I'm sad to give this place 1 star, because in general I've always had a good experience. However this time it was a whole different story and I need to share this, especially hoping someone from the management or the owner will read this (if this was my store I would want to know). I own a safe from these guys for about 3 years now. Please mind this was a $1300+ safe, probably the highest end they sell. Today I encountered an issue where the safe wouldn't open, I guess the electronics stopped working or something. I called in to see what can be done. The person I spoke to on the phone was extremely unprofessional and the moment I asked if it's normal that such an expensive safe breaks after 3 years of use (please mind also that I open it maybe once a week), the person became extremely arrogant and rude. Pretty much cursed me out and told me to come in if I have an issue. I came by the store, was approached by a technician who after I explained him my issue with the safe was very helpful and polite. At the same time, person behind the desk overheard out conversation and goes "oh you are the guy from the phone" and started being rude again and talking something about me to his colleagues and laughing! This is unacceptable in my opinion. I'm thankful for the other technician who was able to help me however. read more

friendly, fast and quick! I hope I never have to use them again but if i need too I will call this company!!

York Lock & Key is good at making keys but I recommend NOT using their "low voltage" department. I have used this company for 30 years. The intercom box wiring on my building needed to be reconnected. Simple job. WARNING: Reconfirm their price given by the office with the technician when he is on site. The fee is $85/hour. That includes service fee. (Service fee is $50 paid only if tech does not do any work). Tech reconnected wire. About 1 hour work. Then I got bill for $198.75 without a breakdown of the charges. I insisted they send a bill with description of the job and breakdown of charges. They sent another bill same amount again without breakdown. I told them I was not going to just pay it without explanation. Anyone can send a bill saying "hey you owe me this much money but I don't need to tell you why. Just pay it". Nope! Finally got a bill. They charged a service fee of $50 plus 1.75 hours work at $85/hour. He was here about 1 hour and service fee was not supposed to be charged. Companies need to understand that it is big financial mistake to try to rip off someone for one tech service and lose a long time loyal client who would have future work. Bad decision. Plus thank heaven for Yelp where we can share good and bad reviews. I am paying them for 1.5 hours work. That's it. They can take me to court for the $71.25. read more

Haven't actually visited the store yet. But just spoke to a sales associate at the store over the phone and he was very helpful and informative. Took his time to explain different options for security code locks and even gave me a quote. Kudos for great customer service! read more

I was looking for a door lock replacement part. Without a big expectation, I went to the Alton Road Lock & Key Shop to ask if they have a part which fits to my existing deadbolt kit. The staff (there were lots of staff, probably 4 or 5 people, so I didn't have to wait) were very helpful and quick, they examined my deadbolt, found one spare part from their stock, trimmed and adjusted so that it can fit perfectly. The price was only $5, and I was happy that I didn't have to purchase a whole new kit. read more

I went at 5:10 to make 2 copies of keys was closed on the page said 24 hours they told me that the store closed at 5 o'clock. I asked if they could get the keys and he said yes ... he did the copies and did not work any of the 2, I think the man was upset I paid double and I gave him a tip for gratitude, I think it is impossible none worked, I think he did it on purpose. if he did not want to do it he could have told me to come back next day .. read more

Great service, friendly staff and always accurate. Hard to beat. Hours are like a ban, though (nothing after 5pm and no weekends).

The greatest, fastest and cheapest service I've received. Everyone who works there is so nice and respectful of your time. It literally took less than one min to make copies of the keys and it costs only 6$ each which is very affordable. Very convenient location as well and hours of operation. Keep up great work guys! read more

Best key lock Smith in all of Miami Beach made me a key the fastest out of everyone I would for sure come back again

Don't bother with these losers. Told over the phone that they could cut a car key for $5 since I already had the blank and transponder, get there and they don't even have the machine to be able to do the job. Instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding, I get attitude from some high-pitched, high-volume a-hole dispatcher who thinks he's a smart ass by offering me a number to someone who could do the work and then refusing to give it to me. Real professional. Don't waste your time with these losers. read more

Extremely helpful team. Bought a new door handle yesterday and it was installed right away that same day. Edgar, which is the locksmith who installed it for me was very professional and finished the job almost immediately. Thank you York! you guys made it super easy for me. I had stayed at a friend's apartment for the weekend and lost her keys. I didn't want to tell her I lost them so I took matters into my own hands and called York. They sent over a very friendly technician (Alan). I waited less than 30 minutes and the actual installation was very quick. I was relieved. Losing your keys can be rather stressful, especially if the keys aren't yours. I'm glad this process was painless. read more

Very fast. In and out in a minute. $2 a copy for a regular copy.

I was meeting with friends for lunch in South Beach. On my way back to work I realized the horror- my car keys inside my locked car. Yelp to the rescue! (Isn't it always? lol) I called York Lock and Key and within 20 minutes a locksmith was there and asked for the same amount I was quoted when I first called. I mention this because there have been times where other locksmiths up charge on site. (Yes, this isn't my first car lock out.) Fast, efficient and honest locksmiths are a rarity in Miami and York definitely delivered in my time of need. Thank you!!! read more

Went to get a key made in store. The man at the front was very unhelpful and very rude. I will not be coming back here.

Miami Beach is an Eco-system by itself. Bar, restaurants, night clubs ... and a great locksmith? Yep. true. We needed to duplicate an elevator key, odd shaped, like a cylinder, for an elevator of a Lincoln Rd. building. Never thought that a locksmith that can do that would be as easy to find as thong bikinis in SoBe! And not only did York duplicate in 3 minutes, the service was attentive and professional. Recommended! read more

I got locked out of my house and did not have spare keys! I went on Yelp to look for a locksmith and contacted York. They were quick to answer and explained they could be at my place in half an hour. They were prompt and were able to open the lock without damaging my door or lock. The locksmith was extremly helpful and friendly. Great rates! read more

Great key place!!! They were able to make copies of all my keys - AND amazing Customer Service!

I used their service yesterday for the first time.I was very impressed with their professionalism, knowledge, Willingness to help, and do whatever it takes to get the job done. I live in Boston, and I have installed a very sophisticated lock in our Home in Miami Beach. I was very surprised by the level of knowledge the technician had about this very new technological lock. This is one of the lock that has a keypad and can be remotely accessed. While I was still in Boston, my nephew told me that the keypad has stopped responding, and is not working anymore. I called another company first, and they told me that the repair could not be done without changing the entire thing. I ended up paying them a fee only for coming out to my house. Then, I give these guys a call, and they were not only able to repair the keypad, but also filed the friction between the deadbolt and the door, so it will not happen again. They also replaced the lock chamber so it will not happen again. And their service fee was very reasonable. When I checked the yelp to give them a positive review, I am not at all surprised that they have five stars all the way. This is the only place I will call for all of my lock issues in Miami read more

Just used them again now for key copies but have also used them many times over the years for copies or if/when locked out of my place with no quick way to get a spare (happened a few times). Every time they have been friendly and helpful - at least the ones I have met. Their key copies always work reliably and they were lightening quick. read more

These guys are great. They copied my keys in minutes for an extra set that I needed. Not only are they the only locksmith on the beach, but they are reliable. This is the place to get keys made! read more

York Lock is reliable. I think this is all I need to say in recommending a locksmith.

The key to my front gate bent from the summer heat & my landlord was going to charge me $$$ to replace it. Crossing my fingers, I stopped at the York shop, and the locksmith immediately straightened it out, tested it in his store lock, and didn't charge me anything. It's working great, and I am so appreciative! I will definitely take all of my future business to York! read more

My husband has used Mike before when I lost the keys to our house and because my husband gave him a raving review I decided to us him today at work. I was running errands on the beach when I remembered I needed to make an extra set of keys. I came across this place and decided to stop in. Although I wasn't greeted right away or shortly after, I did get what I came for., two duplicate keys for under $3. Quick, cheap, perfect! read more

I used York Lock and Key because we needed a spare key made, and we have a unique key that's pretty tricky to duplicate. I found York Lock and Key online and I wasn't sure what to expect or if they'd be able to help me. When I walked in I was greeted immediately by a man named Oscar who assured me that they could duplicate my key. Within 5 minutes I had my new key and for only $10 (I had been quoted $20+ by other stores because the key is so different). I was thrilled with the experience and by the excellent customer service that Oscar provided. I will definitely use this company again the next time with need a key! read more
