Aside from slightly less a selection from Home Depot, this is the place I'd prefer to go with all…read moremy hardware needs. Like previously mentioned, obviously Home Depot with it's spaciousness, carries a lot more, but this place bests HD in just about every other category. I've never actually left here without finding what I was looking for. And unlike HD, the employees here are friendly and are knowledgeable. The staff has always been pleasant, from when I used to come here as a kid with my father, or now whenever I come in there 20+ years later. It's almost a throwback to the way things used to be (and should still be) about them being happy to have your business. The store renovated itself quite nicely during the last maybe 10 years. I'm just grateful this place remains standing when so many have faltered to the bigger chains. A true treasure to the area.

This location has been reliable for decades. I depend on them for custom paint, fabric dye,…read morecleaning products, gutter downspout extensions, hoses, Dremel parts, old stock hardware/fasteners, and other obscure items necessary for repairing older local homes. Front of store usually houses rotating seasonal items. They have a wide variety of kitchen/storage and other less hardware centric consumer items. Oscar and the painting section crew are great with custom colors and color matching. Being able to pick up a quart of a custom color has been very helpful for me over the years. Steve and the other hardware/store crew are always good at answering my random questions, leading me in the right direction. The checkout staff always changes, but employees are consistently nice.

I love quality tools and secretly wished I had the training and experience to be able to use everything in renovation/ construction. Here, the owner has spent years learning what his community needs and he offers wonderful variety and choice in many hardware product areas. He is especially attentive hardworking gracious and accommodating -- service is outstanding. AND if he doesn't have it, he offers to try to find it! I really avoid Home Depot..... Lowes is not as bad, but these old fashioned neighborhood hardware stores may not be the least expensive alternative , but the friendship relationship hands on practical advice and wonderful help create an always pleasant experience. And, GREATLY add to a comfortable bond to one's neighborhood.
