4.35 stars. After stepping off the train at the Yonkers Station at riverfront, I had to get something to eat and drink. If you're not from the area, the first thing that would grab you is the gorgeous view (from the train platform) of the majestic Palisades just across the mighty Hudson River. Anyway, I digress. I walked across the street from the station and settled in here before ubering back to the nearby family homestead. A cozy environment, friendly service, and they brew beer...sounds good to me. I enjoyed their pilsner while feasting on a generous batch of delectable wings. Came here after the rage room! It's in walking distance but there is a parking garage if you want to park. We had their brunch. The waffles was a bit soggy but the chicken was amazing. It's located near the water and a shopping area. I will visit again when I'm in the area gain. Service was quick as well which was surprising since the place was packed. read more

Yonkers has indoor dining right now which is great because of how cold it is outside. No outdoor seating but people are seated pretty far away from each other and when I went on a Saturday afternoon, it definitely wasn't packed. In the beginning, they gave us a pretty hard time. I was trying to redeem a Groupon that I had gotten for my birthday (it wasn't expired but they kept on insisting that they wouldn't accept it). They ended up accepting it after a while which was great. We were able to choose 4 different drafts from a big list (photos of what we got are attached) We got: - Nachos appetizer (so delicious and filling) - Chicken finger appetizer (pretty fried, good and comes with delicious sauces to dip) - burger (basic but good, comes with fries) - fried chicken sandwich with waffles (not the best. Chicken was rubbery and waffles seemed like they were frozen and then toasted. Good flavor but strange texture + consistency - churros (by far the best thing we got. So delicious. It's a Friday afternoon and we are wondering what to do and where to go. Everything around us is the same old thing so we decide to venture out to a place we have been following on Instagram so we decide to take the 45 minute ride to Yonkers Brewing Co. upon arrival we were greeted by Joe who made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Rather than sitting at the bar we decided to sit at a high top adjacent to the bar so we could enjoy the ambiance of the place. Joe was kind enough to let us sample the summer ale that was new and not yet on the menu. It was crisp and tasty so we decided to have it. Next up we had to try the peach bbq wings YUM!! The were crispy, meaty and delicious! The slight peach flavor was just right! Next up we had the happy hour mussels with fries. The garlic wine broth was really nice but my only complaint was that half the mussels were closed. We were still a bit hungry so we asked Joe for his recommendation for one thing that my husband and I could share .. he suggests the short rib grilled cheese sandwich. While we waited for our sandwich, the manager John stopped by to say hello and have a quick chat which was really a nice gesture. Something like that really makes you feel welcome. Sandwich came out nice and hot. It was smothered with sweet sautéed onions which put the sandwich over the top. The sweet onions played well with the rich juicy short rib. Worse part of visit, we got charged a cover charge because they had a band, not an issue except we got charged had three beers and left, never even heard a song. I tried their shrimp tacos and was disappointed because there was no seasoning and it was drenched in their sauce. I figured I could give them another try with a different item on the menu. When I came back I tried the fish tacos and they were just as bad. The fish tasted like absolutely nothing. There was also too much sauce and the guacamole was definitely from a package and had a strange flavor just like the first time. I will say the wait staff are friendly and the atmosphere is nice but I wouldn't come back for food. I didn't try the drinks so I don't know how they are. read more

The room is nice and in style. The chairs are comfortable. The staff is smart and attentive. I took a beer, a dark stout. mediocre beer! The taste is not expressive, with a slight bitterness, more like sour kvass. The staff is noisy, BUT!!!! Why ask "How to fry a burger, medium or val dan?" If the chef is not even going to get into it, but spoils the meat in the cutlet to the state of the sole of a boot!!!! They brought a burger. The top of the bun didn't even warm up. Cold like a refrigerator. the cutlet is overcooked! The dish was taken away, but offered to pay for it?! I had to call the manager. I won't go here again and don't recommend it. read more

Took my daughter to NY/NJ for a birthday weekend, and we ended up having a dinner here. Very happy that we did. The place had a really cool vibe, the 2 beers I had were really good. All the food we had was really good, and above anything else, the service was fantastic. Our waiter (Alex) was great, and he went way above and beyond to make sure my daughter felt special on her birthday. She's been talking about it since then as one of the highlights of the weekend and she hopes that we can get back there soon. Service, food, beer & environment all great here. I got this magazine in the mail telling me some of the best restaurants in westchester county so I thought I'd try one of them out! The menu here is so interesting. I definitely had a hard time picking what I wanted but decided on the. Mimi's southern fried chicken sandwich. It came out and I was so excited. Honestly though, it has no flavor! The bottom waffle was super soggy and it was an overall big disappointment. I also got the Bavarian pretzels. They were fine. My bf got the pulled pork tacos and they tasted good. I really enjoyed the mango chutney. I finished the meal off with the fried brownie. Not my favorite brownie of all time but overall it was a great bite. Out of all the options in Yonkers, we choose this place and we disappointed with the overall quality of the food for the price. We order a variety of items from the menu including the salad, wings, chicken sandwiches and a few other items. The food was edible but not very enjoyable and very overpriced. For an $18 salad, there was just lettuce and tomatoes with a few shrimp that was covered in a sauce, not what you would expect from a restaurant, but maybe a beach snack bar. Just a suggestion, perhaps enlist the help of Jon Taffer from Bar Rescue! I really wanted to like this place but I can't help the feeling of disappointment. read more

I'm only giving this place 1 star because the only thing that was good there was the cider I had. My friends and I went earlier today to celebrate my birthday and it was horrible. We weren't greated by any staff member. The waitress we had was in such a horrible mood, no enthusiasm at all. We could see that our food was ready and sitting on the stand waiting to be taken to us. It was there for 8 minutes before being bought to our table and when it was our waitress just dropped it off and left. My friend got the Mac cheese- it was cold and tasted like it was from the box. Another got the fried chicken and waffle. The chicken was good but the waffle tasted like plastic. That dish was also cold. I got the buffalo chicken wrap with fries which was decent however the fries was cold. Not once did the waitress stop by to ask how the food was even or if we needed anything. We had to ask another waitress for our check and waited another 12 minutes for it. The place wasn't even busy so our waitress had no excuse to not check in on us or give us the wait time for the food to be bought to our table. Our waitress didn't even address the fact that all our plates still had half or more of the food on them still when we finally got our check. I went there because the menu said it had octopus. I got there and the waitress said they don't have it anymore. So I ordered truffle fries. barely tasted the truffle. They were crispy but regular fries. my date ordered shrimp scampi with linguini. It came with spaghetti and it was sooo bland. Mostly lemony no garlic and more like cream sauce not wine and butter. And they use flimsy 99 cent forks so disappointed. Filled with regulars and locals. Yonkers is a solid brewery and a fun place to hang in an area sorely in need of such options. Ample parking nearby, though it is an incredibly short and convenient 2 min. walk from the Yonkers Metro North station if you are thinking of visiting from the City and/or want to avoid the pesky designated driver. While I've yet to have an exceptional, breakout beer here, they have a solid list of well-made beers. There are of course a lot of IPAs, but kudos to them for always having a diverse array of styles on tap and experimenting with different styles--have had a couple of particularly interesting sours here. The bar is spacious, with ample seating and both board games and more standard bar entertainment (foozball, pool, lots o' TVs with sporting events). For a brewery, Yonkers is impressively family-friendly (my friends have brought their kids here where they can rock the board games while we hang and chat), but never feels overrun with kids. It actually feels more like an cool local restaurant that happens to be decorated with kegs and casks with a (much) better than average tap list than a straight-up brewery. Much like the beer, the food is more solid than amazing. Perhaps a bit more hit-and-miss than the beer, actually. The burger and short rib tacos were just kind of bland and average, but the pretzel with hot mustard appetizer is great, and if you are willing to shorten your lifespan a bit, the decadent fried chicken on waffle sandwich is excellent. Overall, a fun place, particularly great for large groups, whether a "just friends over beers" gathering or even a family outing. read more

My buddy Jim turned me onto this place. While chatting at beer club a couple of times, he kept mentioning it and said we should bring the group up to Yonkers. "Up to Yonkers?!" I thought, "is that a place people would want to go?" Well, after two successful trips there, I can say that yes, people do want to go to Yonkers and with good reason, as long as they are going to Yonkers Brewing. You will likely run into one of the owners or a relative while you are there and they can tell you about the brewery came to be. The building is an old trolley shed just two minutes from the Metro North stop. They usually have about a dozen beers on tap and between the time I was there in March until I was there in July, I swear they have improved significantly. I got a flight recently and there wasn't a beer on it I didn't enjoy. Service is also great. Friendly and hard-working, you will immediately feel welcome here. I ate some shrimp tacos and patatas bravas when I was there recently and both were very good. They use sustainable disposable plates and utensils and I admire their commitment to the environment. City folks, listen to me. You can go from Grand Central to Yonkers on the train in a half hour. It takes longer to get some places in Brooklyn from midtown! Do yourself a personal favor and go to Yonkers Brewing, have some great brews, some good food and meet the friendly folks there. Tell them Bill from beer club sent you. read more

I was so excited to go to this bar near home but ohhh what a disappointment. The place looks nice and its clean but the service is HORRIBLE. I went there this past weekend with my husband and just like everyone else that came in through that door, we had to seat ourselves. There were 5 or 6 waiters/waitress standing at the end of the bar on their phones. While the bartender, an older gentleman was too engaged in conversation with a couple sitting at the bar. We had to ask one of the waiters to come over and well my margarita was horrible, bartender is a horrible mixer. My husband asked the waiter for a suggestion on one of their best beers brewed by them and he brought him a regular ipa. We ordered wings and they was whiter then white. I spoke with John Rubbo Sr, the owner and catering manager for an event almost a month out. About 3 weeks out I was planning for a birthday party for 10+ people, I was advised by John that I only needed to make a reservation and not put in a deposit for 1 tab as it was under 20 people. He said that the open bar option was 2 options for three hours: one with unlimited beer and wine $30 (before tax/gratuity) and 2nd for unlimited beer/wine/liquor $40 (before tax/gratuity) . I let him know that I was ready to put down a deposit, knew what menu/drink items my party had wanted. He said I didn't have to worry since I had a small party and could pay on the day of and each person could pay on their own tab if they wished to. Throughout our correspondence, I have never ceased to be utterly transparent and followed up on a weekly basis to make sure I was provided updates (vice versa). On the day of, majority of my party arrived for the reservation under my name, I got a call from my friend saying that they did not have the reservation for open bar. I proceed to then give John a call who aggressively and rudely responds to my concern saying he has never told me this although I have recorded the calls and also archived the emails. He said this was never the arrangement and they do not accommodate to open bar. He has painted the picture to me in a way that explicitly demonstrated he scammed and wasted my time. He said such a event does not exist in his business establishment, non profitable, and "only for parties" which was what I made the reservation for. He essentially bait and switched his words. Never in my life in the duration of living in the metro area have I dealt with such an unprofessional individual that runs a subpar business. read more

Loved Yonkers Brewing Co! Great bar/restaurant/brewery mix. Food- We got wings to start (garlic & buffalo). Both were very crispy but I'm partial to spicy buffalo wings. The garlic wings had too much oil for my taste. Shrimp tacos were great as were the mussels. My friend enjoyed his Greek salad. Beer- great beer selection here. We did beer tasting flights and were not disappointed. You can choose between three tracks which include 6 beers each. The beers were on the light side for the most part and were quite flavorful. My favorite, however was the cider. Atmosphere- very welcoming and cute inside. Service was great. I love that they have various games to play and we took full advantage. This is a cool spot that just needs some TLC. Their draft beer selection could be better, as most of their kegs were tapped. But you'll like pretty much any you order. The bartender was really welcoming and when my fiancé told him he wasn't a stout drinker, he gave him a few to try and a little info about each. He turned him into a stout lover!
