Just went here for Sushi. It's really good. I am a bigger fan of Show Win in Northport because they know me and I even have a roll named after me! So i went here last night with my bf. The place was dead, but it was a weeknight so we gave it a try. I was in the mood for soba and soup. When the waitress gave us our towlettes to wash our hands, I was browsing the menu &I hadn't even used mine yet and she came and took them away. A little strange seeing it was dead and there was no need to rush your customers. Ordered a spicy tuna roll first, which was fresh and delish, so i was excited for the soup to come. BIG dissapointment. Soup base tasted like water and they just threw the noodles in and called it soup. It may be that i have higher expectations being half japanese but i'm pretty sure anyone who tasted the soup would not have enjoyed it. My bf ate his whole bowl anyways but i asked to take mine home (so i could make it better :) ) I didnt want to waste a 10 buck bowl of soup and noodles. My friend and I arrived here during the early afternoon. We tried the Lunch Special - the one with Chicke Teryaki and Sushi on the side. Was about $13. It was a good deal. No one speaks English and can understand that the fault is theirs that they lie on Seamless and promise food on time. Phone was inedible. My favorite sushi spot in long island. This place is not a trendy bells and whistles kind of place, but the food can't be beat. Everytime I come to Yokohama, the food is fresh and delicious. They have a variety of rolls for every taste bud. My favorites are the volcano, 2008, cajun tuna, Huntington, and mango. The list could go on with the variety. I've been here maybe 3 times over past 5 years. The 2nd time was pretty good about 2 months ago where I had a meeting. Decided to take my wife there a week ago as we usually go for sushi to other places. Place is very clean. I was very impressed with the service here. Not overbearing but very attentive with drinks and continually checking on us. They give you the sealed hot wipes for your hands to start off which is nice touch. They have been there a long time. I was also impressed at manager who was continually walking around but placing a lot of his focus on sushi bar watching his people prepare the sushi. They were continually wiping there area. I have been on a sashimi kick lately and my wife does a couple of different tools. She was very pleased with her rolls. My sashimi was absolutely delicious. Larger pieces than our usual places and very fresh. My only critique that night is their shrimp shumai. It's a staple for me and it was very rubbery. Not a big deal. I did eat it. Unusual as it's a simple dish. Other than that, the meal and experience were fantastic. Also, decor was pleasant. Drinks were solid. Prices are right in line with other sushi places. read more

1st time coming here, the manager & waitress made us get out of our seats after ordering our drinks and settling in with our two infant children bc another couple said they didn't want to sit near someone with children. Didn't offer us a discount, free drink or appetizer, nothing. The food is good, over priced on the specialty roles. Second visit not a great experience. Waited a while to take our order. Rude staff!! I used to order from them all of the time. I have spent so much money on dining and take out. All of a sudden I notice they charge me an extra 2 dollars on each sushi roll if I want the rice on the outside. WHAT?! Apparently if you ask for sushi with the rice on the outside they charge you extra. Ridiculous! I haven't ordered from there since. When I confronted them they were so nasty and hung up on me. We eat sushi at least twice a week and YoKohama has been our go to place for years. Tony, the owner, is always accommodating and friendly. To start with, we always order oysters in butter garlic sauce. Other sushi places have this dish, but NONE come close to the quality here. Also their avocado salad with sun dried tomatoes is very good. For rolls we always get a spicy girl roll, a Dix Hills roll, Two Flavor roll. They have a sushi sashimi platter for two that is incredible. You have to try this place. They aren't a glitzy fancy restaurant. They are just consistently high quality sushi restaurant. There are many new sushi restaurants up and down Jericho tpke in Commack and East Northport with nicely appointed interiors, but For food, Yokohama can't be beat. read more

We took my mother to the restaurant for her 87th birthday. We were greeted and seated immediately without a reservation. The server and wait staff was impeccable in their service. Our server was personable and friendly, and our drinks were refilled diligently. I ordered the chicken Teriyaki which was enough for two good sized meals! The chicken was served on a bed of fresh, steamed carrots, zucchini, and several other veggies. My mom had shrimp Teriyaki and it was served with the same veggies. Both came with soup or salad and rice. My husband had spicy salmon rolls and spicy tuna rolls. Neither were spicy enough for asbestos mouth, but nothing ever is! Even so, he said they were very good. Our server consistently checked on us. I told her it was my mom's birthday, and although we were full, we ordered the chocolate ganache cake with ice cream on the side. They had asked my mom's name prior, and sang happy birthday directly to her instead of a generic restaurant happy birthday. Later, our server told us the cake was on the house. Overall, it was a great dining experience, and we will definitely return, especially since my daughter, who wasn't with us, is a vegetarian, and they had many vegetarian offerings on the menu. read more

Food and service was okay, but cleanliness was a big issue. My cup of tea came with a squashed fly on the bottom, which smeared all over the tablecloth. Our server apologized and gave me a new cup of tea. However, when we asked, she refused to switch us to another table even though the restaurant was empty, and only covered the smeared big with a napkin. When our food came, my boyfriend received the wrong item (shrimp instead of salmon) but we let it go. However, my tempura dish had a hair on it. Once again server apologized and gave me a new dish. But this new dish had a hair on it too. At this point we just gave up. read more

Very disappointed. The Seafood Kushiyaki was very poor quality seafood. It tasted overcooked, not fresh, and farm raised. The fried rice tasted ok, as did the salmon roll and eel roll, but since the shrimp and scallops tasted so poorly, I just hope I don't get sick. Went here on Valentines Day with a reservation. Food was excellent, my wife and I got the Miso soup, fried rice, Tiger Roll and three other sushi rolls. Service was great, never had to wait for waitress to refill water or take away dishes. Prices were great also. We will go back again soon. read more

I love sashimi and I feel the best way to judge a sushi restaurant is definitely by how fresh their fish is. I came here after work for dinner and ordered mostly white tuna and salmon sashimi. The food came out quick and one it did, I was really happy to see generous slices of fresh looking fish. The flavor was definitely there and all for such a great price! Service was also excellent as servers were attentive and frequently came to check up on me. Will definitely be my go to spot from now on whenever I want a sushi fix! read more

I eat sushi at least once a week. I have eaten sushi all over long island and NYC. Living in Commack we usually order in from Kurofune or Nissen...We decided to change things up and try Yokohama with delivery today. We were not happy at all. First of all we ordered online. They messed up the town we lived in even though we typed it in correctly. We ordered some rolls and a bunch of sashimi pieces. As soon as we opened the container of the sashimi, we were overtaken by a terrible fishy smell. My husband and I were no able to eat half of the pieces we ordered! The mackerel was very fishy and oily, smelled terrible and tasted worst. The scallop sashimi had the same problem. Also they were cut up uneven and the two orders were very different colors, which leads me to believe this was not fresh fish. We got some pieces for my son but were afraid to even give it to him. The spicy crunchy tuna and salmon rolls were ok. Nothing special.. The eel and yellow tail were also not great and very, very fishy tasting. The yellow tail also had a strange texture to it. We live around the block from Yokohama and will not order from them again. We were very disappointed with the quality..There was no way the fish they gave us was fresh.... read more

I am very impressed with this place. We just found it this past weekend and wow, what a wonderful local sushi place. The menu is VERY diverse. filled with great sushi choices as well as non-sushi choices for those who somehow don't eat sushi (something I can't fathom but taste is relative I guess). There are so many different rolls, all of them great, and their drinks are very yummy too! The service is warm and friendly, no reservations are required, and their fish is very fresh. Just perfect. I love this place!!! The service is so friendly, you're always getting a "hi" or "how are you?" everytime you pass an employee. Your water glass is always filled everytime you take a sip, and they're always around if you need anything. The prices are reasonable and the food is excellent. The pad thai is GREAT. Tokyo rolls has to be one of my favorite rolls from yokohama. I also love their Kani salad. Both are so good, the rolls are made visible where you can see them. Yokohama is also available on Grub Hub, so they will deliver right to your door. The atmosphere at the restaurant is very calm and quiet. you can tell that the quality of their food is very fresh. I tend to be a little scared to try new sushi places because you dont know how fresh they are, but i have no worries with yokohama. Try it, you will not be disappointed read more

When I called the restaurant to see what was taking so long the woman Lily was very rude on the phone. Once they food finally arrived, 80min later, the deliver guy proceeded to bang on the door after I already got my food demanding a tip! That was the most disgusting thing I have ever witnessed. I have been to this place several times and always have had a god meal. The staff is friendly despite the limited English of some of the waitresses. The sushi specials are amazingly tasty. The food is fresh and the presentation is very elegant. The prepared entrees are also good but they really excel at the House Design special rolls. BTW, ask for No. 5. Not on the menu but very tasty. Prices are reasonable but you can easily over order the sushi specials which are more expense that the Classic rolls. read more

LOVE YOKOHAMA!!! First of all. For delivery, they are incredible. We always order online which makes it super easy, you can adjust everything to exactly how you want it. They always give us an estimated delivery time of over an hour, and the food always arrives within 30 minutes. It is excellent if you need takeout-FAST. I haven't had one dish from them that I did not like. I always get the special sushi rolls, as well as their pad thai, chicken w/ garlic sauce, kani salad, shumai & pot stickers.
