About three months ago, we ordered and had our meal delivered and when our meal came the delivery man stated he was annoyed by the low tip he received, I was shocked but gave him the benefit of the doubt. Today, We went for a quick lunch and got ok service! When it came to paying, waitress stood over my shoulder while writing out the receipt, and then continued to complain about the tip I was giving her and stated it should be higher!! I was in disbelief!!!! I'm not a cheap tipper and I feel that I tip appropriately, but the comments made by this staff was absurd and appalling! Everything was very good here. I went with three non-sushi eaters who very rarely go to Japanese restaurants. They were impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant, the presentation of the food, and were even brave enough to try a piece of Philadelphia Roll (still won't eat raw fish though). Anyway, the menu is very extensive and definitely has something for everyone - whether you're a sushi eater like myself, or prefer teriyaki or tempura or a bowl of noodles - you will find something to your liking here. They even feature a nice selection of Asian fusion cuisine which incorporates Thai, Indian, and other Asian influences. We started off with a platter of Gyoza (pan fried pork Japanese dumplings) for everyone at the table to share. We then progressed to a Philadelphia Roll since I was determined to get everyone to try at least one piece of "sushi". That was an adventure. I have to agree with the previous reviewer that the rolls were a little small, but I didn't mind that. They were perfectly bite-sized and could be much more easily popped in your mouth than a larger roll. The dinner Bento boxes are a great deal. I had the 5 piece sushi Bento box which included: Miso soup Mixed green salad with ginger dressing Fried Shumai (shrimp dumplings) 5 pieces of sushi A tuna roll White rice Sweet potato tempura with dipping sauce All for $18.00. I can't believe I ate the whole thing. Based on the opinions of the other diners at my table: the Salmon Teriyaki was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Thai Chicken with asparagus was flavorful but not overly spicy and the portion was so large that half of it had to be taken home. The Shrimp Teriyaki and Steak Teriyaki which are served on a large bed of mixed vegetables were also very good. We visited this restaurant last Saturday night for a friends birthday party. We were a small group of six and all of us were moderately to well versed in having sushi. The place touts itself as a Asia Fusion restaurant and I'll have to agree. Most individuals will find something they like on the menu. Our group was seated in the blind corner of the restaurant. I was a tad disappointed since I wanted to see more of the huge restaurant space, but since it was with a group of friends that I hardly see, it was nice to have a more private area where we could chat loud & freely. Service was prompt if not a tad curt & pressing. It was a first visit to this restaurant and you would think they would give you more time to look over the menu, our waitress seemed annoyed that we wanted to mull things over a bit. As compared to most Japanese Restaurants I've been too I was also surprise at the lack of complimentary table munchies, no edamame or fried noodles to much on. Our orders comprised mostly of sushi, Pad Thai (One chicken & One Shrimp), a bento box, & the Mango Salad. As another reviewer said before, yes the sweet iced tea was more sweet than actual tea. Overall though the seafood was so fresh, and the sushi presented beautifully. We had a spicy salmon roll, Black Dragon Roll, Spider Roll & NY Autumn Roll. The Pad Thai & Salad were huge portions, easily sharable. Even the Ice cream was delish (I'm a fan of Bryers Vanilla). The sushi is easily in my top 5 places, while the Pad Thai is easily in the top 3. I do have to stress here that the food was excellent, but our server was really quite loud & pushy. She asked if we wanted to wrap up our meals even while we were all still eating. The topper was motioning me if I wanted the check without any prompt for me. I was shocked since we were only there for 2 hours, and there were plenty of tables free. All in all the experience was a delight on the palate, but I would definitely say the service left me a bit sour. The only plus came with the check when she gave us all York Peppermint Patties. If you are in the area it is a great restaurant to try, be sure to look for coupons on-line as we were able to take off $10 off our bill. I will try this restaurant again, the Pad Thai is enough reason for me. But if the service doesn't improve I will make sure to make more of a fuss. read more

Just returned home with my father from a lovely lunch at Yokohama. We had the sushi/sashimi combo each and it was delicious. My dad and I especially loved the tea. The fish was fresh and full of flavor and the miso soup was better than any other my dad said he ever had. This has been the decade of Japanese restaurants in Commack. At one time dominated by Italian restaurants, suddenly there was Miko, Zaza and at one point 5 Hibachi restaurants alone. The relatively new Yokohama is good on all counts. I am curious about whether this is a new opening of the pre-Covid Yokohama a little further west on Jericho Tpke. That restaurant was more traditional sushi and teriyaki in a rather plain setting. Previously it was called Kyoto, after that amazing Japanese city. This new version of Yokohama is very much changed. It's in the Nisen style, the very modern Sushi house that brought a clubby, modern Japanese look to Commack. Yokohama is similar to Nisen in style and the excellent food quality. The service is good and the sushi is fresh. I've been here 4 times and it's been consistent. I would recommend the interesting roles as well as more traditional sushi and sashimi. read more

Too small, too crowded and no place to stand or sit while waiting for a table unless you want to wait outside. But the food is good. No better though, than the significant number of other high quality sushi restaurants locally scattered in and around Commack. My experience with the owner's daughter, however, was inexcusable and the owner has no control over her. She was rude and refused to apologize; leading the owner to inappropriately scold her (he hit her) in front of everyone. She walked out; he followed her, but apparently lost that battle as he was then told to not seat us! (when in Rome). We ate instead, at a more suitable restaurant with a larger variety of great food, bigger, more spacious; more tables so no wait, with a large vestibule to stand and a huge bar to sit at if waiting for a table. We were greeted with smiles and happy content staff. Content with our meal at Mihana Japanese Bistro & Bar in Mayfair Shopping Center, needless to say we will never be spending our hard-earned money at Yokohama ever again. read more

Perfectly done sushi. The rice is at room temperature and has the right consistency. It won't fall apart as you're eating it. Once it's in your mouth it'll separate as it should. The neta is proportionate and is very well chosen roll to roll. The fish is high quality and prepared amazingly well. Their sashimi and tuna tataki are examples of this. They have great appetizers and desserts as well. As for the restaurant itself, staff is friendly, service is quick, and the ambiance is great. A must try for sushi lovers read more

Yokohama gives you great sushi and service for the right price where Nisen which is 2 minutes away, provides a nice interior design and overpriced sushi. I came here on a rainy Monday at 11:30 am right when they opened up lol. Apparently its hard to find a decent lunch spot in East Northport/Commack on Mondays. My friend and I ordered four rolls: Tokyo, New York, Huntington, and Spider. The manager gave us complementary salad while we waited as we were the first customers of the day which was nice of him. My rating is based on the fact that the service was good, the food was good, and the wine was really good which is sometimes rare at a sushi place. The rolls were a little smaller then this californian is used to, but the wine made up for it! We had tons of rolls that all had fresh fish and were served in a big plate that looked so pretty. Fairly decent Japanese restaurant in East Northport. Started with a house salad which was just mixed greens with way too much ginger dressing which caused it to be rather soggy. Then we had sushi. White tuna roll was fresh but the rolls themselves were quite small. Then went on to the SoHo roll, salmon, yellowtail, tuna and avocado which was good. Also ordered tekka don. The slices of raw tuna were rather thin but they came on top of slightly vinegary sushi rice. I prefer my sushi rice with more vinegar and theirs was a bit plain. Service was very fast and friendly. The interior could use a face lift. Prices were average, dinner for two ran about $55. Not my favorite place for sushi but not a bad option. read more

This has been my go to for years. Unfortunately this week I had a bad experience. I ordered online for take out. I ordered the NY autumn roll but asked if they could please put yellowtail in the roll instead of smoked salmon. I picked the food up around 9pm and opened it up about 9:20. I ate a piece and thought it was a little "off". Tried a second piece and couldn't eat it. Turns out, they put EEL in the roll. I do not like eel at all and couldn't eat any more of it. Got a chance to taste the raw oyster and sushi from here. The oyster with the Ponzu sauce was extremely fresh and very tasty ! I also ordered some Uni and they were huge! I felt like i was at Greenleaf just down the road! She mustve felt off guard when i wanted to order one more thing.. Shady business practices. I ordered from Yokohama last night via the Grubhub app which does give the option to pay in app and either get delivery and/or pickup, we chose to pickup. When I arrived the man at the counter told met the price which was more than the price given to me via the app. it ended up some of the prices had been updated in the restaurant menu and not on the in- app menu which unfortunately was not my problem. The man was extremely argumentative and rude and had the audacity to say " Why are you busting my balls over a few cents', my reply was " It may be a couple of cents but it's the difference between whether I am a repeat customer or not" I would think that a full fledged debate over clearly published prices is the last thing an establishment would want. To top it off the sushi was just so-so nothing that stood out. The tamago or " egg curd" was not made in house and clearly packaged and was extremely dry on the edges which led us to think it may have been pre-sliced. This unfortunately left a lasting impression and I don't think we will be giving Yokohama our business again anytime soon. it's a shame that poor customer service is the main reason. read more

Great Sushi.... but I cant give 5 stars. I've been coming here for 4 years. The raw fish is usually outstanding. I eat Sushi twice a week and have tried all the best rated places on Long Island. My friends and I end up here often as it is so much better then the other places. The Sushi Sashimi combo is amazing and their specialty rolls are perfect. I subtract a star because the decor needs updating and I am sick of the waiters with their thumbs in my soup when they serve the bowl. The staff is very nice and friendly. While my wife and I were moving some old things of ours to a Storage Facility in Commack, NY we just happened on a Sushi Bar called Yokohama. After placing our old things in storage, we drove to Yokohama for lunch. On the outside, Yokohama, doesn't look like a Sushi Bar - in fact - if you didn't know the name of the place you'd think it was a typical American restaurant. Yet, once you enter Yokohama, your greeted by a very friendly staff and the typical Sushi decor. We were seated quickly and a polite waitress took our orders. We decided to try the Duck Spring rolls with Plum Sauce. Very good! Our Sushi order consisted of Volcano Rolls (Deep fried smoked salmon, crab, avocado, witha hot spicy mayonnaise & massago sauce on top - one of my personal favs!), Pink Lady roll (Crab, Eel, avocado, tobiko wrapped in pink soy bean wrapper) and Lobster King Rolls (Lobster Tempura, avocado, cucumber, lettuce & chive). The food was fresh and very tasty! The rolls were simply perfection. We quickly devoured the food. We left not only satisfied but happy knowing we added another great place to share with not only our family and friend but our fellow Yelper's as well! read more

I've been here maybe 3 times over past 5 years. The 2nd time was pretty good about 2 months ago where I had a meeting. Decided to take my wife there a week ago as we usually go for sushi to other places. Place is very clean. I was very impressed with the service here. Not overbearing but very attentive with drinks and continually checking on us. They give you the sealed hot wipes for your hands to start off which is nice touch. They have been there a long time. I was also impressed at manager who was continually walking around but placing a lot of his focus on sushi bar watching his people prepare the sushi. They were continually wiping there area. I have been on a sashimi kick lately and my wife does a couple of different tools. She was very pleased with her rolls. My sashimi was absolutely delicious. Larger pieces than our usual places and very fresh. My only critique that night is their shrimp shumai. It's a staple for me and it was very rubbery. Not a big deal. I did eat it. Unusual as it's a simple dish. Other than that, the meal and experience were fantastic. Also, decor was pleasant. Drinks were solid. Prices are right in line with other sushi places. read more
