We got to have dinner YOKO Japanese Restaurant in San Juan. Something a little different and fun during our trip. Absolutely make a reservation in advance as seating is limited and the dining area is small. We took an Uber over from our hotel and arrived a few minutes before our reservation time. Upon trying to enter, the door is locked and we couldn't get it. There was us, and another person hanging out. I rang the bell with no answer and just hung out for a while as a couple more people arrived. It definitely gives it an exclusive feel but also kind of a shady vibe too. The door opened after awhile and they checked you in. There were several minutes after our reservation time with no explanation on the process. Once you get in, It's beautiful inside. You then see that there is such limited seating and a small space that you can't wait inside. So basically, you have to wait outside until they are ready for you and another party has left and the tables are reset, etc. Do note - you can't see into the restaurant, but everyone can see out. I looked out several times during our meal thinking hope I didn't look like a fool while waiting. You could see folks trying to look in to see in the restaurant, and others adjusting their hair and clothes, etc. OK, now onto the food. If you find yourself dining here, make sure to get the Pork Belly Bao app! It was perfect and the best I have eaten. The dinner was long, the food was good, but I would say the presentation and the limited dining was the main appeal for me. We had: ~Pork Belly Bao - $17 ~Yakisoba Camerons (Caribbean Shrimp) - $19 ~Black Cod - $30 We did order dessert and waited about 20 mins only for them to tell us it didn't set. There was a bit of a language barrier here as our server didn't speak English well but we all got through just fine. The food was absolutely delicious and it is such a quaint, fun, space. Definitely recommend a meal here. There website is https://yoko.restaurant (no .com, just as it), if you want to check out more pics, menu, and the space.

This is the type of place you have to make a reservation at probably like a week ahead of time, so not super easy to get a table but once you do it's amazing. The vibe in the restaurant is nice and the food was incredible. Would recommend the pegaitos for appetizer, the yakisoba noodles with chicken, and the black ebi roll. Everything is great but those were my favs.

Yoko is the kind of restaurant that you have to come back over and over again, just once is not enough. Is definitely on my repeat list every time i'm back in the island. Can't say enough of how good this place is! Being there many times and the consistence is remarkable. That's something I really appreciate about the restaurants that I love. Chef Jose is a young power-force, talented and creative. When experiencing his food prepare to get your mind blown. The space is intimate and small with dim sexy lights. Getting a reservations can be hard because of the limited space so I advise to do it ahead of time. The staff is attentive and friendly. They come by the table often, always making sure everything is fine. My go to cocktail is the drink of the house called "Tokyo Mule", similar to Moscow Mule but with lyche, refreshing and light. They also have many other great cocktails, sake and wines. Let's talk about FOOD! I have tried almost the entire menu without lying. There is something about their food that is addictive. I loved the fact that the food comes slowly, giving you the time to appreciate every dish. All sauces are house made giving each dish a unique touch. Every dish is well presented and explained in detail by the server. This last time we had the Gobe Roll, I swear I can eat a dozen of them. It has a salmon layer, no rice, crab salad and avocado inside, topped with toasted quinoa and lemon aioli. Also the butter crab hand-roll that comes with the most insanely good butter/ponzu sauce to dip in. The yellowtail sashimi, super fresh and the salmon foie nigiri which is one of my all time fav. We were lucky this time because the chef had toro tuna available so he did some specials outside the menu. The toro tuna sashimi that melted in your mouth and the toro tuna poke bowl with crispy onions, avocado and rice. DELICIOUS! Outstanding dishes that we didn't order this time but are definitely a MUST. The pork belly bao, okonomiyaki, pegaditos, miso glazed black cod, kimchi fried rice... so many! Overall the food is fantastic, the ambience is cozy, the staff is great, what is not to love about!? My fav sushi place in PR by far.

If I had to describe the content of this restaurant In one word that would be DELECTABLE! But don't take my word let the dishes do the talking! Highly recommend the Black Ebi roll and their pegaitos! For the mule lovers I would not hesitate to order the Tokyo mule! Only downside to this hidden gem is that you need to make reservations ahead of time and I mean AHEAD of time esp if you have a party larger than 2 lol! Luckily I was a patty of one and was able to be seated at the bar.

I have heard a lot of buzz about this place, so I felt lucky to be able to make a reservation. When you make a reservation, you are charged $50 (to incentivize you to attend). If you show up, the reservation system will return your $50... The reservation started a few minutes late because the restaurant was turning over from lunch to dinner - so you wait outside. Once seated, service was okay, not the fastest but okay. Just like the service, the food was (just) okay. The waitress told us that the main entrees would come separately but she did not tell us that we would get the first three entrees 30 minutes before the 4th was brought (after everyone else was done eating). Overall, Yoko is okay but not a place I need to return to.

Wow! This is one of those experiences that you have to repeat! I mean the combination of flavors is so good that you keep eating and tasting your wine again and again. We had the Nikkei Tuna Tacos to start, which we combined with Artesa Pinot Noir wine - boom! Excellent combination. Try the Black Cod and the Kimchi rice - wonderful. Leo was of great help - guiding us through flavors. The place is small, so make your reservation, and ENJOY!

I received this recommendation from a friend that grew up near Condado, and I'm so happy we tried it. Now this is one of my favorite Sushi restaurants I've ever had. The place: we came here right after the beach without a reservation and they sat us immediately (sorry we didn't dress nicer!!). Very cool staff, both waitresses were kind and attentive. The drinks: drinks came quickly and both were fabulous. I'd recommend the suika to anyone coming here. Try the blossoms if you know you like lavender. I wish we could have tried more! The food: everything we got surprised us. It was all amazing. First we got the Bao buns, which were small but worth it!!!! These were crunchy but still melted in our mouths, and the sauce was delicious. Next we got the Kiury roll. Adding fries plantains on top is so unique and it's great. TRY IT! Next we got the black ebi roll. The tempura shrimp on top is SO GOOD. The price: somewhat expensive, but 100% worth the price. The attire/the occasion: we came in swimsuits and clothes over top, but i would recommend dressing nicer. Come here for a date night or a girls night out! Final notes: make a reservation if you can! Otherwise, get there early (we came at 4pm exactly). No matter what, you'll be happy with it if you like good sushi.

After so many great recommendations I decided to bring my husband for his first father's day dinner. Making the reservation was a piece of cake; I just went and reserved a table online. You pay $50 for your reservation, but they refund it back a few days after your reservation. You cannot use those $50 for your bill- sorry. Are reservation was at 7:30pm and we got our table the minute we arrived The restaurant is not big so tables are reserved for each party there. Which I honestly think is a good/bad idea! good idea because there is no wait, but bad because you can't walk in if you have a craving Once were seated, we didn't even wait 3minutes for water to arrive and our server. Once he arrived he asked for any allergies that they should take in consideration for our food. He gave great recommendations for me that would be pregnancy safe and safe for my allergies. Food arrived quickly and we NEVER had our glass of water empty- I'm not joking the service was excellent! Every single thing we ordered was exquisite! I can't honestly say anything negative of the food. The ONLY feedback I would provide is to have more duck with the fried rice since the plate is for sharing. Even though I can't eat sushi pregnant, there are others options to eat! which is something I loved because there is a menu for everyone There is a valet parking right on front of the restaurant ($10) until 2am which I think is great because there are other places to go in Calle Loiza after dinner. 10000% recommend this place. If you ever visit Puerto Rico make a reservation!

Pegaitos. You'll notice one is missing. I failed to shoot before eating.

OMG!! This new trendy spot on Loíza is to die for! Only 6 tabletops in these COVID days, so good luck getting a reservation, but you're in for a treat if you succeed. We had the Pegaitos which were crispy and warm on the bottom and delightfully soft and cool on the top. The Okashi Shrimp were crunchy and spicy. The Yoko Roll was sublime. The edamame was drizzled in scrumptious sesame oil. Even the miso soup was top notch. I'll stop now. Just go. You won't regret it. Thank me later

We started with the tuna pinchos, and wow--fresh, perfectly chunky, and packed with flavor. Then came the goat cheese quesadilla, which might honestly be one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Creamy, rich, and just unreal. I finally had the chance to try escargot for the first time--and now I feel completely spoiled for life. If that was my introduction, the bar has officially been set sky high. Even the Caesar salad stood out--crisp, balanced, and done exactly right (which is rarer than it should be). But the real star of the show for me? The guava and cheese bread pudding. I'm not exaggerating when I say I would 100% pay to have that Ubered all the way to me in Miami. It was that good. What blew my mind was the staff it looked like a hive of well trained bees just buzzing around this insanely packed room doing the best job. The general manager should be proud. Every bite felt intentional, elevated, and memorable. This place didn't just meet expectations--it completely redefined them. Spectacular doesn't even begin to cover it. BRAVO. Chefs kiss.

Half of the chairs were wet when we arrived, and the waiter had us wipe them down ourselves. On top of that, several menu items we wanted were unavailable, and one of our drinks never even came out, despite reminding the waiter multiple times. We also received an email only a few hours before our reservation saying it had been moved two hours earlier, even though nobody from the restaurant contacted us directly or confirmed the change with us. Overall, the atmosphere just wasn't pleasant and the service felt off the entire night. The food was alright, but definitely nothing memorable. The staff also seemed very unwelcoming, which added to the strange vibe overall.

AMBIANCE You're in the city so it's an eventful area. There's street parking and nearby lots but your best to carpool or rideshare. As for the vibes, I'm told in the daytime it's a local marketplace that's filled with vendors and other fresh produce booths. It's pretty chill with a nice neighborhood feel. As for the evening, this is where to turn up and get a pulse of Puerto Rico parties. EXPERIENCE Go to your bar, pick your vibe from community, club excessive, lounge feel, live music or etc. Drink choices rangeThey have it here! Plenty of photo op spots and good energy. I was here peak of the #DTMF era so it was magical to see people come together with a speaker and a cowbell. A local put into perspective how this was way better than paying for an expensive hotel party. It was truly a 1 of 1 experience. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. It doesn't get any better. There's a reason why this space is dropped in lyrics and people's recommendations because this is the heart of the people. So don't be shy! Grab a drink, walk around, catch a dance, and be safe! I guess this was purposefully done as I've heard it's nuts here on Fridays & Saturdays. When you get dropped off at the main road when you walk down it takes you to all the action in a few hundred feet. This place was still packed, but it was popping, the place to be at night I'd guess. They've got all JJ da of restaurants, bars, & clubs here. Tons of music, & a good time.
