When she re-introduced me to PIlates, it was part of a life changing phenomenon which slowly and steadily eliminated decades of back pain. Her laser focus in making assessments about my body then programming my fitness accordingly is as much an art as it is a science. At 68 years old, I feel stronger than I did when I was young. I now have more flexibility, stability and physical confidence than I have in years. She has helped me recover through various orthopedic surgeries with Pilates and other techniques - all more successfully than the required physical therapies. Erin is fantastic and "spot-on" about helping you modify your poses in order to attain proper form in both mat and reformer classes. She is also motivating, inspiring and extremely accomplished in Pilates. If a pose is particularly difficult, Erin takes a moment to demonstrate the correct form. The classes are challenging and dialogue during class kept at the bare minimum (sometimes I can barely breathe, let alone talk, because of the intensity of the work)! I am sore (in a good way) later in the day and into the next day after a class. I clearly see a more defined muscle tone after attending two classes a week for a month and it just got better after several months. Erin is a professional and takes her work seriously (without being overly serious herself) and wants every attendee to get the most out of the time spent in her studio. The studio is clean (even by my germophobic standard) and neat. The original tin cut-out ceiling (which, of course, we look at the most) adds a nice touch to the physical surroundings. Sign-up and attendance items are efficiently handled and do not detract from class time. As a nice bonus, Erin will introduce attendees to each other; which can simply generate good will during the class or can result in friendships (depending on your own inclination). Everyone in the classes I attend is friendly and the intensity of the classes does not really give room for others to be checking you out and judging. I'm addicted and will return to Aligenmentz any chance I get. It is Erin's voice I hear in my head now that I have returned to Pilates in California.

Aquidneck Island needs more options and this is a fine enough studio but it just didn't offer a smooth Vinyasa flow type of practice which I am accustomed. I will give it a few more tries... As a windsurfer and snowboarder, I know all too well how hard it is to break bad habits when taking on a new sport without proper training. Tara is a Master Instructor for a reason. She also add humor and humility into her teachings. I met really sweet women in the class, something I love about being in the tribe. I feel so happy and joyful when I enter the doors at Ritual. I wish I lived closer.

This place is where I discovered Buti Yoga, which, unfortunately, I can never un-discover…read more I'm from the area, and started googling around for a yoga class while here visiting family. This new place caught my attention and the Buti Yoga class fit my schedule. I did not look up "Buti Yoga" before I went. This was my fault. In the studio, music blares so loudly that even the non-terrible songs sound terrible. We get on all fours and shake our booties. We stand up and shake our booties. Some mountain climbers. Then we get on our knees and shake our booties. The official story, I later discovered, is that the Marathi word "Buti" was chosen because it means "the cure to something hidden or kept secret." My dudes, it's called "Buti" because it sounds like booty. A couple of down dogs happened incidentally, but by any reasonable measure there was no yoga. There was dance, which looked fun for the teacher and the three women who were close enough to hear her instruction. But I was near the back, where we had to crane our necks to see what was happening, and then imitate each move haltingly, maybe twice, before the next one came around. Even when the vast majority of the class froze in confusion, the teacher never paused to break something down. I felt dumb and miserable. For a minute I just sat my Buti on my mat and stared at the Biggie and Beyonce lyrics neoned millennial-ly onto the walls, hating them even though I love Biggie and Beyonce. I should have thought to leave, but there is no hearing your thoughts in that room unless your thoughts are Kanye at 100 dB. Eventually I grew to appreciate the loud music because I could say "This is stupid," out loud, several times, without being heard. At the end of class we bowed and said "namaste," which makes sense, just like crossing yourself and genuflecting on your way out of a nightclub. Look, basically all American yoga is appropriative. I've unblinkingly gone to studios offering "yummy" flow classes and selling inspirational stationary in lobby. I'm not a purist. But to me, there's something especially insidious about this Buti shit. Calling movements "primal" just to titillate a bunch of fitbit wearers. Referring to a roomful of mostly/all white women in a strip mall as a "tribe." The extremely on-Insta founder from LA, who is here to unlock 6000 year old yogic secrets for you, and also hawk her $63 protein powder. To be fair to this establishment: Buti is just one of the classes they offer. The instructor was sweet, super energetic, and can twerk, good for her. The facility is clean and spacious. Your first class is free, and no one here actually invented Buti Yoga. Three stars? But still. RSS really seems to embrace the Buti ethos of hashtagged enlightenment and fake sisterhood and full-makeup workouts. Which should embarrass us all.

It was an inner spiritual retreat in 90 minutes. Her language and calm approach to give permission to go within slow and steady is a most delicious way to start an already beautiful day. So lucky to have this in our town and why don't I do this way more often if this is the glorious outcome. The classes are mostly restorative, so don't expect to be breaking a sweat in most classes. However, if your purpose in doing yoga is relaxation and stretching, this is your place. A few things I wish they'd improve - first, the parking is very cramped. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful in downtown Bristol for any parking...but it can be hard to get in and out. Second, their schedules occasionally change without notice so make sure to check the website (NOT the paper schedule they hand out). Finally, they have lovely paper decorations hanging all over the studio, which get in the way for standing poses. Not a huge fan of those- they kind of impeded my warrior poses. Overall, a calming great place to practice and I'll certainly be back! I loved getting to trial different instructors. They round out my yoga practice, as I like a variety of styles & intensity levels. This would be a great place to being a more novice yoga practitioner, someone with an injury, or someone seeking a meditative/relaxing class.

The class was a fast paced total body workout that included the treadmill, bike, tower and weights that could be modified to the various fitness levels of my bridesmaids. Kathy's coaching style was perfect for our group - she pushed us to work harder and motivate us, but was extremely personable. We had a great time, worked up a sweat and got to finish the class with mimosas. If I lived near the studio I would definitely attend fitness classes at elevate on a regular weekly basis!

The instructors and members create such a positive, supportive, and no-judgment environment that you instantly feel welcomed. Caroline, the owner, is one of the kindest and most uplifting people I've ever met. It's easy to see how her energy sets the tone for the whole studio. Seaside Sculpt has built something genuinely refreshing: a strong community rooted in encouragement and fun. I always leave feeling stronger and much happier than when I walked in!
