On a whim, the three of us went to split some frozen yogurt. My friend told me she enjoys going here over Menchies as they use fresh fruit when make it. I was interested in the popping pearls so we went for the transparent looking ones (I forgot the flavour) with our vanilla low fat yogurt. It was around $5 which I paid $2 of for my share. I'll usually make a pit stop at Yogen Fruz whenever I'm back in Vancouver and shopping at my favourite mall. They have great fruit blended yogurts, which I haven't seen much of in the States. You can choose from low-fat, non-fat, and reduced sugar bases. At ~110 calories per serving, it's hardly a guilty pleasure. I like that blended froyo allows you to create whatever flavours you want. I usually get mine with matcha green tea and lychee/blueberries. The matcha flavour's really great and adding the fruit makes me feel healthier. It was creamy and the chai flavour reminded of Christmas. I also really liked the crunch from all the almonds. However, I do have one big complaint--the inflated prices. Each fruit you add to your blended froyo sets you back 75¢, which can add up quickly. Toppings, of course, are also extra. $5 is more than what I'd like to spend on a quick snack at the mall. Years ago when I lived in Victoria, we lost every Yogen Fruz. I spent years under the impression they went out of business, when one day I was strolling through Metrotown and saw YOGEN FRUZ. I literally screamed and made a b-line. I cannot speak highly enough of this place. You pick your yoghurt (fat free, vanilla, etc), the fruit you want blended with it (all actual fruit), and then lastly you can pick toppings if you like. I always go with no fat, blackberries and coconut on top. SO SO SO good. Honestly the best frozen yoghurt I have ever had and I'm sad they don't seem to be doing well! I like how their frozen yogurt is thicker than Qoola's and pinkberry's. The flavours are noticely less sweet than the competition's! I don't like how it's not self serve though, because I like to be able to scoop my own portions. It's rather pricey at $5 for a small, because I can usually fill my large cup 1/4 way at Qoola for under $3. Oh, their coffee flavour is really awesome. I'm only giving this one star because the frozen yogurt is good. However, I'm thoroughly disappointed in the quantity of the yogurt they give you. I stopped by today and ordered a small blueberry frozen yogurt, and was dumbfounded at the minuscule amount of yogurt they give. The cup was not EVEN half full, I wish I had taken a photo. Sure they leave room for toppings but this was just outrageous. Half of my cup was empty, and the swirl was HOLLOW inside. $5 for at most, ten bites. I ordered a small, not a spoonful. I used to love this place, but the last time I went there I got yogurt that has clearly gone bad. I brought this to the attention of the lady who works behind the counter and she got very hostile and confrontational. She tried to tell me that yogurt is incapable of going bad, which of course simply isn't true. She just yelled at me until I gave up and went away. I used to stop here every time I went to metrotown, but now I have such a negative association with the place I never want to go back. Awesome froyo, not like the self serve stuff or the pinkberry froyo, you can taste the goodness! I love their original tart, it's YOGURTY, and you watch them put the chunk of yogurt, cream cheese whatever it is into the machine to make it. Lots of flavors to choose from too! I always get the green tea because it's made using matcha... I always ask for a little extra and the lady isn't super stingy. Only think I don't like too much is that they don't have a lot of fresh fruits, most of them are frozen. :( read more

The 2 stars is a compromise between polarized feelings. I'd give it 5 stars simply for the fact that it's a low cal treat that actually tastes good! But I'd give them 1 star for price and 1 star for customer service. This all factors in for me. But if it doesn't for you, and you don't care how they treat you and how much they charge you, then consider it a five star review and stop reading here! I can maybe chalk the customer service up to "Vancouver service." I suppose it's pretty typical on that front. They just aren't friendly and rarely smile here. Fine. But a few weeks ago, I was there and ordered the overpriced treat because lets face it, it's delicious and I had 5 bucks in my pocket. But when I asked for a second spoon for my friend who was sharing with me. Guess what, they didn't have any extra spoons they were willing to give out. If you didn't know this, their blue semi-square spoons and apparently prized possessions and they will only give one spoon per order. If you ask for a second spoon, they reach into the spoon-reject-box and pull out a flimsy white spoon and give you that. Well, fine. I don't really care that I can't have two blue spoons despite the fact that I more than paid for it. I should be allowed to have 20 blue spoons at that cost. But again, a spoon is a spoon. What I DO care about is that they wouldn't give me a second spoon to share because they only had blue ones. They said I'd have to order another item. So, we had to walk down to the food court to get a second spoon. Handed to me for free, without even ordering anything for Orange Julius. I'm sure I'll eventually return, but most likely not to this specific location. read more
