They surprised me with a swag bag on my birthday! No, I didnt tell them. No, I have never worked out on my birthday, until this year.

YOGASIX LasCo- perhaps the redeemer of 2020! Im a selfish Yelper that depends heavily but rarely leaves reviews. But this place has helped me get my groove back! Covid was unkind to us all. Perhaps you met the fate of quarantine 15. Perhaps you declined mentally & started tally marks to keep track of days. We won't even talk about what recycling days looked like. We all needed a reset. This studio has been exactly that! All levels can easily integrate and the atmosphere is very welcoming, not intimidating at all! (they offer 101 classes for those who feel they need a basic intro) It WILL change your body better than any bootcamp, and no running required. Everyone from the desk to instructors are personable and in a very genuine way. The modern lighting along with great music tracks help you get lost and leave the world outside. Its seriously addicting and Ive now become one of those weird people who starts feeling off if I go more than 2 days without it. They also offer virtual options for classes so you can do them from anywhere. You know you've thought about it. You see the ads and the sign and think I wonder if that's any good? Maybe I'll check it out. Some day... one day...IDK if I can do it. Its probably hard. I'll feel weird. IDK about the heat. JUST TRY IT!!! Ive yet to see a new person not end the class with that WOW sign me up! Ok, I'll stop before I sound cultish. But seriously. Just go.

If you like structure and consistency in your yoga classes, then you'll like Gaia. I first…read morediscovered them on ClassPass, but I stopped doing CP and going to Gaia directly. My favorite class is Still Water (yin yoga) which is focused on holding single poses for a longer duration. I also like the other two beginner classes, Gentle Waves and Dessert, although I honestly can't discern between the two. Classes typically start with a warm up of some kind (core work in the normal classes) followed by a short 5 minute group discussion. I'll admit the first time I can to Gaia this part was WEIRD. But it has grown on me, I like hearing the "good news" from other people in the class - it gives a sense of community. They also do a short spiritual on the yamas & niyamas. It's nothing weird, I often do find that the instructors give me something new to consider. That's followed by another 40mins or so of practice. During the final minutes of practice, the instructor massages your shoulders and neck with an energizing lotion. I'll admit that I find it a little gross, but I still enjoy it. I mostly feel bad for the instructors. Other things I like: early morning practices, yoga mats and blocks available, room is kept warm (not hot!), and easy parking. My only gripe is that practices don't always end on time. Combine that with having to arrive early (late yogis have to shamefully tap on the glass to get the instructor to let them in!), a one hour yoga class can quickly turn into a 2 hour affair. I've been loving my at-home practice but when I need something more I'll still be coming here and nowhere else.

Blue Feather - Aerial Yoga

I recently came to Blue Feather for an Aerial Yoga + Play class with a few friends. The studio is…read morelocated in the Design District inside Soar Creative Studios, and you can easily book directly on their website. Aerial yoga has been everywhere lately, so I was glad to finally experience it here. The class size was small (~12 spots), which I think is perfect--any larger, and it would've been hard to see the instructor or fully engage in the movements. About 75% of the class was guided yoga using the aerial fabric almost like a sling for support (lots of Warrior II, chair pose, backbends, etc.), with the last 15-20 minutes reserved for "tricks." The time split was a little surprising, but I understand the need to warm up before advancing into more complex movements. Our instructor, Deidra, was confident and knowledgeable, offering options for both new and advanced students where it made sense. That said, I had mixed feelings about the structure. The class was advertised as beginner-friendly, but was filled with her students from moderate / advanced classes, seemingly working toward credit/practice hours. This meant Deidra often modeled progressions for them, focusing her attention at the front of the class rather than circulating to guide newer students in real time. Thankfully, a few more experienced participants helped by modeling positions, which was a big plus. My only other nick was the playlist--which bounced between Mumford & Sons to Gracie Abrams, with the occasional mainstream tracks, which just wasn't my vibe. Overall though, I loved the class and really appreciated Deidra's skill and passion. While not exactly "beginner," it was a fun and challenging introduction to aerial yoga, and I'd definitely return.

I can not remember where I first saw this place online, but I am glad I did. I have seen aerial…read moreworkout places before, but never one in Dallas. Their website is very user friendly. It will show you all the different types of classes, as well as prices, and you can book the classes online. I booked the "beginner" class last week - the aerial technique. I arrived about 10 minutes early and was shown where to grab and a yoga mat and was able to pick the "hammock" (I do not know the technical name for the ropes) I wanted to work with during class. The instructor was really nice and she walked us through each exercise. It was a lot of stretching - not really much off the mat, which was fine; I wasn't intending to be up in the air on my first time. Near the end we did get to flip upside down and hang for a little bit. I didn't find that comfortable so I didn't stay upside down for long. A lot of the other class memebers seemed to enjoy it, so maybe with time and practice I will like it one day as well. At the very end of class we got to get up in the hammock and lay down in it. The instructor turned off the lights so we just had the music to listen to and relax. It felt like we were hanging there a good ten minutes. Very relaxing. The studio is off Seventh Street in the Oak Cliff area. There is construction across the street, but I was able to find parking on Davis in a parking garage. When you walk into the studio there is a shop in the front with all kinds of trinkets, stones, incense, clothes. Cute stuff! I bought the package for 3 classes for $45 so my next class will be the aerial yoga. I'm very much looking forward to it!
