I started learning and practicing yoga here in early 2024, and it has absolutely changed my life…read more Khristine is extremely knowledgeable and passionate, having studied in the Ashtanga lineage of yoga in India straight from the late Sharath Jois, grandson of the founder of the Ashtanga method (who in turn studied under Krishnamacharya -- Google these names if you're curious of the significance). Of course, lofty credentials don't mean much if they're not put to good use, but Khristine continues this rich and sacred tradition by teaching students old and new with thoughtfulness, compassion, individualized care, and great humor. She's very skilled and observant in suggesting alterations and adjustments to facilitate injuries, health conditions, and other student-specific needs. And if you think yoga is only about movement and fitness, you're in for a treat (as long as you have an open mind). Her knowledge of pranayama (breathwork), yogic philosophy, and the other "limbs" of yoga are second to none. The other teachers here are also extremely skilled, knowledgeable and helpful. They bring their own diverse skills and yoga lineages to the community to create a fun, expansive and well-rounded place to learn and practice -- whether you're a brand new student, a casual participator, or a seasoned lifer.

This style of yoga is highly effective on many levels. It allows you to see where your own strengths and weaknesses lie. It can shine the light on your own fears and neurosis but in a very gentle way. My favorite part about Mysore style Ashtanga yoga is the self lead aspect as well as the focus on the breath. The breath in my opinion is the key element to calming the nervous system which in turn creates peace, grounding, and deep inner connection which makes my days go so much smoother. I noticed how much easier it was to get through the holidays this year compared to past years. I am so grateful that this bright human being has brought this opportunity to the Central Coast. It truly is a gift to our community.

But while the meditation itself brought subtle positive changes in my life, the real world still dished out plenty of opportunities to for me to suffer through. Mark Schecter's POMA workshop showed me how to establish a mindfulness practice to handle the challenges in life with more grace and reap the true rewards of meditation to live a richer life. I truly believe that mindfulness training is the most useful knowledge we can ever obtain.

She was so nice and accommodating. This was our first time and we were all looking forward to it. Once we arrived, she was prepared and ready for us, introduced herself and explained what to expect during the experience or journey and showed us into her space, which was open and beautiful. She has a pleasant affect and a soothing, calming voice. We all had a really wonderful time simply laid back, relaxing & listening to her sing and work the bowls. We had much to talk about, after we left, about our different experiences, which was fun. All positive. It was really a nice hour and we felt relaxed and refreshed afterwards. Like after a massage. We didn't want it to end. We'll do it again sometime, for longer!
