My back had been my weakest link physically and I figured stiffness and chronic pain was the payback for all that running along with all those years. Shawn came highly recommended and I initially went to him knowing I had much to gain if he could help and only a few dollars to loose if he couldn't. Working with Shawn has been an extremely positive experience both physically and spiritually. I've recovered flexibility I've not seen since college, my core is stronger, I no longer have ANY back pain, I feel healthier and I'm back to running pain free.  Just being pain free has made my visits well worthwhile.   The improvements in my running are icing on the cake. Sessions with Shawn are great.  Initially he focused on relieving my back issues and now he focuses on getting me more efficient in my running while maintaining a healthy and sound body.  Throughout it all Shawn has given me exercises to do at home and has, in a sense, become my coach and also my friend. She was so nice and accommodating. This was our first time and we were all looking forward to it. Once we arrived, she was prepared and ready for us, introduced herself and explained what to expect during the experience or journey and showed us into her space, which was open and beautiful. She has a pleasant affect and a soothing, calming voice. We all had a really wonderful time simply laid back, relaxing & listening to her sing and work the bowls. We had much to talk about, after we left, about our different experiences, which was fun. All positive. It was really a nice hour and we felt relaxed and refreshed afterwards. Like after a massage. So I went. Why not? So, you know those nagging thoughts of self-doubt, fear, self-deprecation? Well, I wanted to get rid of some of them and see if Dr. Cox's methods worked for me. On her website she touts...Mind Body Tools for a Successful and Happy Life. In our session, we spent an hour talking about what I call past programming. Incidents in childhood that have an impact on how we approach life. In that hour the visceral, anxiety ridden feelings I had around fear of failure went from a 9 down to a 3 and then eventually complete calm. I'll definitely being going back to see Dr. Cox. Those nagging thoughts you know...they never quite all go away. But these sessions are surely going to keep them quiet for a while.

And if you think yoga is only about movement and fitness, you're in for a treat (as long as you have an open mind).
