I've been practicing at this studio for 19 years, ever since I was a senior at Oceanside High. It's always been such a welcoming space, and the teachers are truly phenomenal. I love Bikram yoga, so I've tried pretty much every hot yoga studio in North County, but I always find my way back to Yoga Wild. They're constantly making improvements, introducing new offerings, and hosting events that really help cultivate a sense of community. It's hands down my favorite studio. Going to Yoga Wild Oceanside was like coming home to see friends. Mind you, I'm a traveling yogi. Everyone was very welcoming. Random strangers were talkative and kind. The place is clean, hot with radiant heating, and had old school instructors who supported new students and described postures so everyone could make corrections. I've been here a few time. Today, I took a complementary "Karma Class" with a teacher who just finished her training. It was good, better than I thought. Even though the instructor made some mistakes she moved through the flow with grace and didn't give up! I like her positive attitude! I'm glad she played music since it seems like the classes I took before were silent. This studio is very unique. I haven't seen carpet in a lobby of a work out space before. I have mixed feelings about this studio. I signed up for a 3 month special for unlimited classes. Not long after signing up, my grandpa had a stroke making him fully immobile. I helped rehab him and spent the majority of my time at the hospital. A few months later, I called Yoga Wild and explained I only used one or two classes for $149 and asked if they would mind extending the 3 months. She said "they could only extend by two weeks and that I should have called sooner." I explained I was the primary caretaker for my grandpa and yoga wasn't top of mind and she said "that's all we can do." I have memberships to many studios in Oceanside and was going to signup for one with Yoga Wild until this happened. For a yoga studio, the owner doesn't seem to have a lot of empathy for her clients. Community and the way you treat your clients is just as important as the class itself. It wouldn't have cost anything for them to extend by two months but they didn't. Every other studio I belong to understood and retroactively paused or refunded my $ except for Yoga Wild Pros: The Pilates classes are amazing, very fun and high energy Cons: - Yoga class was weird and the teacher seemed frustrated. At one point she literally yelled at the class that we weren't listening to her. I've been doing their hot Bikram class consistently 3 days/week for a few years now. It has completely changed my health and body. I no longer struggle with various physical ailments that before seemed impossible to overcome. I call it my medicine because it has truly become an indispensable part of my life. Amazing yoga and hot Pilates studio! I have been commuting 30 minutes each way from Escondido for the past 8 years because the studio is worth the effort. There are closer yoga/Bikram studios but they are not nearly as nice or of the same quality. The infrared heat is like no other. Showers are a great amenity as not all hot yoga studios offer this after a sweaty workout. Overall, I have nothing but positive feedback for Yoga Wild. I have been coming to this studio on and off for years. The staff is wonderful and I really enjoy how much they've invested into this studio. The upgraded lighting, infrared heat, artwork and sound systems combine for an awesome experience. I can't stay away! It's clear now much love and dedication has gone into making this studio great. They continue to offer a variety of classes, while still sticking to the traditional hot yoga that originally brought me to them. If you've never done hot yoga, I recommend researching it before coming to class so you know what to expect. The instructors make it a fun and challenging workout. This is a cute yoga studio in a great location. I love a good hot yoga class with chill music, I've only been able to go to the silent classes which are not for me, but look forward to trying a class with music when there's one offered at a time I can attend. Music is a magical way to enhance your brain and body capabilities. The hot Pilates class is the exact opposite, they play EDM music with strobe lights, kinda like a nightclub. It's a great workout. The staff are all very nice and the facility is always clean. The owner takes a lot of pride in her studio and cares enough to learn each person's name that comes in which is very cool. I was excited to give this place a try since it's close and inexpensive. I learned, you get what you pay for. My first impression was not great. The place screams tacky and as soon as I walked in I was taken aback by the smell of body odor. Maybe they can't smell it because they're used to it?? I took the "Pilates" class for my first class. They said to arrive 15mins early to get set up and registered in their system. I was 20 minutes early and it was chaotic. They took my ID and had me fill out paperwork and told me to find a spot in the room. Which I did, I had to get home to nurse right after class and left quickly. They called me to say I forgot my ID and to register with them. I told her no, I arrived early to register and could not stick around after class. The woman tried multiple times to get me to purchase the intro special for $99 and thank god I didn't do it. They cleaned the floors right before class and the heated room now REEKED of cleaning chemicals. Not something I want to be breathing in. The instructor started class 8mins late, which is such a pet peeve. The "Pilates" class is not Pilates. It was weird. Club music and literal twerking were involved. Not my scene. If you want real Pilates, go somewhere else. Next, I decided to try the power yoga. This class was held in the basement. There were only two other participants and the instructor used no music. She had us make a circle so we all faced each other and slowly talked us through basic movements. I couldn't handle it, I had to leave. I could have stayed home and done this in my own bedroom, would have been a lot less awkward. Ultimately, not impressed at all with this studio. Do yourself a favor and disregard any of the negative reviews! I was so put off by some of the reviews that I almost DID NOT join Yoga Wild! That is how powerful reviews are! Nasty comments about the vindictive owner are just NOT TRUE! And comments of the foul smelling studio...again NOT TRUE! In fact, the studio smells quite nice for a HOT YOGA studio. There is a small variety of classes offered throughout the day. I have taken the hot yoga, hot pilates, and hot 26 classes. I love them all! The hot pilates is a killer workout and I especially love the hot 26 because sometimes the 90 minute classes make me feel like I want to die by the 70th minute. Albeit rewarding at the 90th minute... Some of the instructors pass out icy cold lavender towels at the end which is such a welcoming treat. The hot pilates is cool because it's dark with strobe lights and pumping with high energy music...who needs a nightclub when you have hot pilates? All the instructors are so kind and sweet! Stumbled upon this business on Groupon and decided to try to out with my husband. I had tried Hot yoga years ago but wanted to dive back into It and do something new with the hubz since he likes to workout. We arrived about 30 minutes early to sign in and prepare for class. Brought our own towels and water. They rent mats there for $2 which is a really awesome price. Teacher was super friendly and welcomed us to the class. When you first do hot yoga, you have to remember to keep an open mind and to have fun/relax. I had seen the negative reviews after and I love the way the place looks. It doesn't stink either. And the main thing is to give it your all in class, you paid for it, so get the most out of your buck by breathing and doing it instead of fanning yourself for 30 minutes! I've been going to this yoga studio for the last 18 years with some gaps of not going with the birth of my two sons but I want to preface in saying I'm a Bikram loyalist and have seen the changes and owners and upgrades etc. It's great to see that the studio has survived through COVID as I know the owners tried very hard to keep everyone engaged. I even love the fact that we were practicing Bikram yoga in the park for a while which changed things up and was a creative way to keep us all engaged. I do love the variety of teachers available now and the teachers are very nice and know you by your first name. I think the only part I struggle with is all the lights and the dark room. I've tried to be open-minded about it and I just remain grateful that I have a neighborhood place to still practice Bikram. But what I don't like is all the lighting. I want to go there to meditate and get into a flow but it's difficult when you have strobe lights hitting your eyeballs. I do a lot of computer work in my job and I just want to get away from any artificial lighting with my practice. So I do wish that there could be a class session without the artificial lighting and just natural light. I'm still giving the studio a four star review because overall it's a good community studio, don't get me wrong but I also want to provide this honest feedback. read more

This place is great! I hurt my lower back surfing about a year ago and between the occasional chiropractic visit and weekly yoga my back has recovered to near 100%. On top of that my flexibility has increased beyond what i ever thought was possible for someone as un-flexible as myself. Its improved my surfing, jiu-jitsu and overall stress level. Word of warning though, the first time i came here I was in the best shape of my life. Between the intense Hades-esque heat and the fact that your own body serves as the resistance against your muscles which means you can push yourself infinitely hard after 30 min into my first class my head was spinning and I felt like I had been tortured.The instructors kept up with the positive encouragement, "go at your own pace" "its normal to have to stop and take breaks for your first class", and I was able to finish the class and the reward was well worth it. After a few classes I figured it out and got "used" to the heat (you never really get used to it) and now I'm an addict. If you have any type of joint injury, especially back I highly recommend this place. Even if your not injured I bet you've got some level of stress in your life (if you said no bite me!). Yoga is the best at reliving stress. Really there is no reason not to try this place, its great! read more

I just started yoga about six months ago. This place is the reason I am in love with yoga. It offers both hot yoga and Pilates to allow variations and keep the workouts fresh. I love the atmosphere of this studio. The owner and the teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable and go out of their way to make their students feel welcome and happy. There is always upgrades and programs to make the schedule for working parents doable. The fun atmosphere of the Pilates class bring in the energy to keeps me going and make me work hard without feeling it. It feels like fun not like a workout. But I feel it the next day which makes me go to yoga to stretch it out and be ready for the next Pilates class. It is the circle of life you might say. Absolutely love it. read more

Was really hoping to like this place but it just missed the mark for me. I was greeted by the super friendly staff which is why I'm giving two stars, but from there things went downhill and I wished I could get up and leave several times during the class. What people say about the smell is true, but hey, it's hot yoga so what do you expect? I was really excited to take the 5pm power yoga class since I haven't been able to find a power yoga class within 20 minutes of where I live in Oside, but this class was...subpar at best. It was held in the basement studio which was surprisingly well lit and had no smell, but it shared a wall with the kids area which is a problem when you're trying to get your zen on and there are screaming kids and loud music the entire length of the class. The teacher seemed new to yoga and new to teaching. There was no music played during the class which only amplified the noise next door. There was no flow to the class and to be honest, I feel that this class could potentially even be dangerous for someone new to yoga as there was such a lack of teaching happening. The abrupt commands and lack of flow will keep me from ever coming back, but to each their own. I just prefer a more guided and flowing type of teaching style, but I'm sure there are people out there who might enjoy this type of class. Not for me but glad I dropped in to try it out. Keep in mind that there are no first class free specials and the only special they offer is $99 for 3 months. read more

I walked into this studio 5 years ago at 48 and was immediately hooked to how I felt when I walked out. I had never done a yoga class before and had a couple herniated discs that would flare up... this class massively helps reduce back pain, it also helped reduce stress and I left happier and with a lighter spirit than when I walked in. Seriously! I was on a 5 day yoga workshop and got taken to this studio to do the hot pilates. I thought I'd sit out most of it as I was knackered but I cannot believe the amount of energy and fun I had with the teacher Vineetha and the rest of the class. I've been going to this studio and it's sister studio in Encinitas for almost 20 years. Most of the teachers are really great and a few are even fantastic. But this morning I had an incredibly negative experienced that I feel compelled to share. Bikram Yoga was created by Bikram Choudhury, a yoga teacher from India. He didn't invent the poses or the heat. He simply took 26 postures from the hundreds that exist and put them together in a specific series. It's a 90 minute class with 2 breathing exercises and 26 postures done at a specific pace. Bikram has become famous in the U.S and students pay thousands of dollars to attend his exclusive and intensive "teacher training Course". Most of the teacher come out of Bikram University with an understanding that yoga is a spiritual, mental, and physical practice that is deeply personal and they teach from a place of caring. Then there's the other kind of "teacher" who is churned out of the Bikram treadmill. I call them "non-yoga" teachers because they are wrapped up in the ego of being a "Bikram" yoga teacher. These types robotically spew the dialog in a militant style and have no awareness of the mental and spiritual part of the practice. Well this morning I had that type of non-yoga teacher. Unfortunately I don't know her name but she 's a short girl with blond medium length hair and is somewhat heavy set. When I arrived at the studio there was no one at the counter to take payment for the class. The previous class had just ended so I went to the bathroom thinking someone would be at the counter when I got back. There was still no one at the counter so I went and found a spot for my matt and water and went back. It was 10 minutes until class and still no-one at the counter so I went in thinking I would pay after. Class begins and I realize rather quickly that the teacher is in a hurry to get class over with. She had taught the prior class and not all Bikram teachers can handle doing back to back classes. She was rushing the breathing exercises. I drive 45 minutes one way to go to class and the whole endeavor takes 3 hours out of my day round trip, so it's really a bummer when I get a bad teacher. In addition, these classes aren't cheap at 16 bucks a pop. At first I said nothing. She then started on the poses. Each pose is done twice and then there's a 20 second standing pose between each new asana. She was skipping the 20 second asana and going from one pose to the next with about 2 seconds in between. If you read Bikram's book on his class, he makes a huge deal about how important those 20 seconds are. It's not a break, but actually another pose where you stand perfectly still to let your body absorb the benefits of the pose. After about 10 minutes I could hear the woman in front of me starting to gasp for breath. I knew I wasn't the only one who thought we were rushing, but I knew no one else would speak up. Eventually I asked her if she would mind slowing down because the class felt rushed. She dismissed me with a wave of her hand and said "No..we're fine" I told her it wasn't fine and that I was a customer who was asking her to teach the class correctly. She bit my head off with "This is my class and I have been a "Yoga" teacher for 8 years. If I say we're fine then we're fine." I was pretty astounded at the lack of wisdom in her response. It would have been great of her to check in with the rest of the class and ask if anyone else felt like she was rushing. Maybe she could have learned something about her class that would have made her a better Bikram class conductor. After that she intentionally sped up the pace which really showed how incredibly small minded she was. I ignored her and continued to do the class at the correct pace. When we hit the floor for the floor postures she mentioned the fact that the class was 26 postures with a 20 second pause in between. Ironically we we're at the half way point of the class and it had only been 30 minutes. She slowed the pace down after that and started taking the pauses for almost 20 seconds. Even with her slowing down to the almost required pace, she ended class at 12:15, shaving off a full 15 minutes. I've had teachers like this before. They get their ego stroked by feeling in charge of something for a small window of time and completely forget that it's your yoga class. If you decide to try Bikram yoga and you get a teacher like this, don't let them ruin your class. It's your yoga class and you paid good money for it. Listen to your body and don't let them push you to an injury or make you feel bad if you have to leave and use the bathroom. Drink water when you need it. If you need to modify a pose because of a problem in your body, this type of teacher may reprimand you and try to embarrass you. Ignore them and do what feels best for your body. When class ended this foolish teacher accosted me about not paying for my class and I refused to give her the payment. read more

Bikram Yoga Oceanside: Where bad habits grow and thrive. I've been practicing Bikram yoga for 7 years now. I make it a point to do Bikram wherever I'm at, even when I'm on trips or away for vacation. Needless to say I've practiced in dozens of locations over the years from North LA county to San Diego, and in Michigan, Nevada, and DC. This Bikram studio is the worst studio I have ever practiced at. Allow me to explicate. Bikram yoga offer's a whole host of benefits, and exercising DISCIPLINE is one of them. The instructors here simply do not advise against bad habits like they do at other studios. So in other words, people are allowed to continuously get up and leave the room to refill water bottles, and oftentimes they do so IN THE MIDDLE OF A POSTURE! This is ALWAYS corrected and advised against in a Bikram class, but not here. Other honorable mentions of stuff I've seen people do here: people dramatically falling out of postures, people talking to each other and muttering under their breath. Many times at this studio you'll find people doing their own thing. Starting late, doing their own postures, wiggling around and swinging their head side to side between postures, etc. One of the instructors (the owner) SINGS SONGS during class. Yoga songs. Tries to get you to sing along with him. You've got to be kidding me. This is not Bikram Yoga. Finally, and read this part slowly and make sure you really take this in: during multiple classes that one of the INSTRUCTORS attended...the INSTRUCTOR was TAKING A YOGA CLASS and HAD HER CELL PHONE ON HER AND WAS TEXTING DURING YOGA. DURING BIKRAM YOGA AN INSTRUCTOR WAS TEXTING ON HER PHONE IN BETWEEN POSTURES. A YOGA INSTRUCTOR. SOMEONE WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE SETTING AN EXAMPLE.....WAS TEXTING......DURING A BIKRAM YOGA SESSION. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! It's really disheartening to see such an amazing yoga practice be taught and led with such disregard. If you are a newbie, make a trip elsewhere to see what real Bikram yoga that actually emphasizes the disipline of the mind and body is like. read more

I have practiced this amazing yoga sequence in Long Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach. I love everything about Bikram - the heat, the postures, the discipline, the meditative aspect. When I moved to Carlsbad, I was really excited that there were two studios so close. I have purchased packages 3 different times and just yesterday purchased a one month pass so that I could "begin again". Two minutes into the 4:45 class, I was reminded why I never come to this studio...First, the class started 10 minutes late (did he forget the Bikram discipline???) Then during the first breathing exercise, he left the room to let someone come in (really late) During the whole class, he spoke so fast I thought he was trying to sell me something at the County Fair (think Auctioneer) His incessant chatter was distracting and stressful, he sped through the postures so fast I could not understand anything he said. Between postures, he read ads about what is coming up at the studio...(?) and during the transition between standing and floor, he read a passage from a book about I am not sure what because he talked so fast I could not understand a word he said - main point - he was chattering during that all-important savasana (which is meant to give way to peaceful and relaxed stillness). Practicing this yoga is supposed to be a mental and spiritual mission - how can we practice when the instructor is so disengaged??... I have taken classes from a few instructors at this studio, both in Oside and Encinitas, and I have rarely left feeling the way I felt leaving other studios. I have seen cell phones, heard singing (?) clapping, jokes (?) These are fine for other yoga practices, I suppose, but Bikram is supposed to be a cut above, a discipline, a way of life - not at all what is practiced at this studio. I am really happy that soon there will be a new owner (finally!) - hopefully he will either fire everyone and start from scratch or make his instructors take the Bikram teacher training again - clearly, there is not a single one who follows that discipline. read more
