Nice yoga studio inside the day spa! They have their own parking lot, which is very convenient. The yoga classes are great and sometime (if I get lucky) I was the only student in the class. All teachers always help the students to understand the pose and adjust the student pose to get most out of the benefit of the correct pose. Most people are regular but a few are day spa customer. All props are available to use. The studio is clean and the restroom is clean. I like the the studio has one side that we can see outside through the huge glass window. read more

Decided to try out Yoga Lamar because it's close to my house and there was a Yelp deal available (basically half-off a month membership). I had high expectations after reading the other reviews but sad to say that Yoga Lamar didn't meet them. While I should have known that this wouldn't be an authentic yoga experience because it is located inside the salon, I was still disappointed. The yoga studio is located inside Spa Lamar, next to the hair stylist area. The doors to the yoga room are thin so you can hear the hair stylists and their clients throughout your yoga class. This is distracting and doesn't make for a very "zen" experience. The room itself is clean and bright. The room isn't very big but thankfully the classes I went to were small. It would be uncomfortable to have more than 10 or 15 people in there at one time. The AC was broken during one of the classes I attended, so we were really sweaty about halfway through the class. Someone asked the instructor to turn on the AC, but it was broken, so we opened the doors to the room. It felt much better temperature-wise, but the noise level from the salon increased, making it harder to meditate. Being that this is a Scottsdale yoga studio, the other students were mainly older, stay-at-home housewives. The women didn't give off friendly vibes, so I felt out of place not knowing anyone else. The atmosphere felt a little gossipy and cliquey, which is an unfortunate vibe for a yoga studio. On more than one occasion, some students in the class were chatty throughout the practice, making meditation difficult. One comment I heard during class was, "My butt will look so good after this position! I am so fat." UGH. I like yoga studios where students don't speak throughout class, unless they need help from the instructor. This is not a gym hour with your girlfriends; it's a meditative yoga class. The instructor for one of my classes was wearing a very thin, white tank-top without anything underneath. Needless to say, some of her body parts were poppin' out of the tank-top - very unprofessional and distracting during the class. While I'm not asking for 100% modesty, at a minimum you should have your nips covered! I was not happy about that and felt uncomfortable during the class. I made it a point to avoid her classes after that experience with her. I am disappointed to report that I haven't received any contact from the studio after my month-long membership ended. I didn't feel like a valued client when I was there, and I still don't feel valued as there has been no follow-up communication. Why not call me and see how my experience was, and try to get me back in on a regular membership? Don't you want your Yelp-deal clients to become regular clients? read more

I'm at the end of my one month unlimited classes Groupon and have loved health benefits from practicing yoga. The studio is clean with large windows that let in a lot of natural light. It's very relaxing. Their equipment is pretty complete and in good condition. The equipment includes: yoga mats, bolsters, straps, sand bags and blocks. They also have a bottle of organic cleaner for the mats. The instructors are super friendly and seem very knowledgeable. I really like instructors Leah and Alex. Leah's class really makes you work and it feels fantastic after wards. Alex knows her stuff and is an excellent teacher. I've taken basic flow, all levels and restorative yoga (so relaxing!). The physical benefits have been fantastic. My core feels a lot stronger and tighter. And I feel less stressed. My only complaint - which some would see as a positive - is that they heavily stress the religious/philosophical aspect of Yoga. I'm not interested in that. I am interested in the health benefits of yoga as exercise. This includes, core strength, flexibility, stress relief and overall body strength. I really liked this studio, but wished it stressed the physical benefits more and eased up on the spiritual talk. read more

Yoga Kamala focuses on the internal benefits of yoga, while also keeping in mind physical benefits. If you're looking for a calm workout in a great atmosphere, you may want to check this place out. I am not into the loud pounding music they play at At One Yoga so when I found this studio, I was very pleased. The studio is one room in the basement of Sachi Salon. I enjoyed browsing all the hair, nail, skin and boutique items before heading down to class and think that every teacher I have met has been very welcoming and nice. I "grew up" doing yoga the traditional Ashtanga style so finding a studio that had a class without music or at least soft enough for me to hear the instructor is nice. The classes range from basics to traditional Ashtanga and are usually morning, noon and night. Check it out if you are looking for a truly relaxing, meditative experience - I highly recommend! read more

This studio was very disappointing to me. Their instructor turnover is high and when I mentioned that I was pregnant and wanted to know if any of the instructors had experience with poses that either should be modified or should not be done while pregnant, the response I was given was that I should do the research on my own and just start attending a beginner class. Even after having been a client for several months, by asking this important question, I was treated as if I was a first time customer with no recognition for my patronage. If the instructors are not skilled enough to be able to guide a variety of ailments or situations then I am concerned with the level of their knowledge. read more

Spa Lamar Yoga - it's beautifully designed, felt casually elegant, and is very warm and inviting. I will definitely go back and do a day of spa treatments but for now, I'm reviewing the yoga. The studio is off to the right of the main area, a very nice, clean, zen studio with all the props you could need. I loved the studio and enjoyed the classes I took there. I always went to the 10:30A classes and most of those were yin classes which are a very different type of yoga so you need to know that going in. I thought all of the teachers did a good job and I would go back to any of their classes. There was one, however, who was truly a gifted yogi. His name is Lee Gaines and he really is amazing. I've been doing yoga for 6 years now and have had many different teachers, 85% of them were good while 5% were so good I would follow them anywhere. Lee is in the 5%. I read a review complaining about noise but it was always very quiet when I was there (including weekends) and I found a wide range of ages in the classes that I went to. My only suggestion would be to offer a mix of classes at each time slot. Yes there is a mix of classes but I only go at 10:30 and I would have liked to have done 2-3 yin classes (which I love) and then 2-3 flow classes each week. Basically Mon-Fri were yin classes, mix it up. Yes, go to Lamar Yoga and enjoy! read more

I found this yoga studio on yelp and I love this place. I have been to most of the classes at all different times, and haven't had a problem with a teacher not showing up, like the previous reviewer. The studio is located in the Lamar Spa, in a private studio. I have done yoga for a couple of years now, but just at home from DVDs. The studio is wood floored, bright, and all equipment, mats, bolsters, blocks, etc., are provided. The teachers are attentive and knowledgeable. I usually rush in frazzled and stressed from my day, and leave feeling centered and calm. This place is everything I had hoped to find when looking for a yoga studio. read more

I want to love this place for yoga....but, it's a challenge. The spa is lovely, and the staff is super friendly. Unfortunately - the yoga classes are hit and miss. I have had a couple of good instructors, and a few not-so-good. It is important for the class to reflect what is on the schedule - for example, there are certain expectations associated with a "flow" class - such as a flowing sequence of poses, music, etc. I really hope this place can get some great, experience instructors and have a more consistent offering of classes. I LOVE this studio!!! The staff are friendly and nice. Very warm and welcoming place. I love the Flow classes they offer. The classes are small but it gives a more intimate atmosphere. Kayla is an amazing yoga instructor. I have been there twice the past few weeks and she taught both classes. The studio is nice and small and same with the classes. They have the mats there for you to use which makes it very convenient plus it's located inside Spa Lamar so you can't help but feel "zen" when you're there. This is the best studio I have ever been to. I have been a member for almost two years now, and wouldn't go anywhere else. The teachers at this studio are amazing. They really care about about making sure you are in the right pose and that you are getting the most out of your practice. They don't just tell you what to do while getting a work out themselves. They walk around during class and actually teach. The atmosphere is very calming and peaceful from the minute you walk into Yoga Kamala. I am always greeted by a smiling, friendly staff. the "restorative hatha yoga" class was terrible. It wasn't yoga by any stretch of the imagination. we lay on the floor in a handful of different resting positions - that was it for a 75 minute class. this should not be advertised as yoga -- it was more like nap time at nursery school. I was slightly nervous trying yoga again, especially after some not-so-pleasant experiences at 2 other yoga studios in the valley (due to grumpy instructors, loud music and packed classes). After researching online and reading Yelp reviews, I decided to purchase the $59 one month unlimited class voucher through Yelp. And wow, am I glad I did! From the moment I walked in the door, I felt extremely comfortable - the front desk staff is so friendly, answering all my yoga/class questions and showing me around the entire spa explaining that yoga members can take advantage of the spa services at discounted prices. At my first class, the yoga instructor made it a point to learn about me and my level of experience. She also walked around during class giving everyone pointers to improve their postures, make modifications to poses and provided reminders to focus on our breathing. That was the first class that I have ever been to where the instructor seemed genuinely happy teaching yoga and sharing the practice with her students. I have been going to Yoga Lamar for several weeks now, trying different classes and different days and my experiences have all been positive. I feel SO good physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually; I can't remember a time in the recent past when I felt this good! My voucher just expired, and I am going to re-new to become a member. read more
